How was your experience with education in the country you're from? Would you ever consider studying in Ecuador if you had had the opportunity? This episode was a LONG episode I know, but not every episode is going to be like this. Some will be long when there's a lot to talk about while others will not. Regardless, thank you for taking the time to check every episode out.

Thank you for sharing your views and experiance. Thinking about these 5 students that did not do well. There can be various reasons, sometimes it feels like every and other person today has ADHD, ADD, Ashberger or some kind of letter combination. I probably did too. If I look back and look at why I failed pretty bad in school was, partly absolutly not at all interested in homework. Apart from assignments I dont think I did a single homework through highschool and pre colleage. I did mediocre by just attending class, sometimes I did really great just attending class, and sometimes I falied. For me it started already in first grade, I was early an ace in the class and when my class mates were still not even half way in the first book I was in book 4. No matter Swedish class, history or math. But guess what, I got bored..... Throughout the class years I would get more and more bored because I mostly new things already, had figured out things on my own, gone to the library and read through albums and albums and more albums about things that really was only some 20 pages in the history book. While, at home I lost my time already than with computer games (Commodore 128 and Amiga), your too young to remember those. I think a lot of the students today that is not very good students just need another approach, and they need not to get bored.

Wow Ace, thank you for opening up my eyes on the educational system in Ecuador. I thought it was a little more rigorous than the States.

Ace, appreciated your comments about the pressures faced by teachers to pass students. Unfortunately, during the pandemic teachers at the university level in the U.S. experienced the same. Many universities were terrified of losing students and being unable to keep their higher education “businesses” going.

It’s sad to hear that because while it might seem great if you’re a student to pass easily, it really does create a problem for them when they have to face the real world. I’m wondering if the pandemic made things like this worldwide but I’ve seen it for as long as I can remember over here.

Hello there, Ace! I just finished watching your video and among all the languages you can speak, you chose the truth. The education system is in favor of students. It doesn’t allow teachers to do their job properly or as it should be done. The education system aims to enhance the teaching-learning process, but how that’ll be possible if the system is unfair by allowing unperformed student to pass, which lets good students down or students who make the effort to turn in their homework/assignments in time at least. While other students whose performance isn’t good enough, are allowed to hand in their homework/assignment late over the same grading scale. They could be allowed to hand their homework late, but over a lower grade. Under those parameters, the education system seeks excellence!! I couldn’t agree more with you on the fact that schools and high schools are way more concerned about delivering outstanding events instead of focusing on giving class itself. Hey I’m fully aware that events are the way for private schools to promote themselves and so schools can perhaps increase their number of students every year, honestly, I believe it is way better to stand out for your education more than for your events. The problem isn’t the events as long as they have academic purposes, the problem is the number of events scheduled for a school year. Because there are lot of schools whose school year calendar is filled with more events than classes.

Hello there Steven! It is tough being a teacher because everyone is against you. If it’s not the students, it’s the school, and if it’s not either of those two then it’s the parents. It just seems so strange to me how parents can believe that teachers can have control over things even parents themselves have no control over. I may have said this in videos or comments before but I will definitely always say that the education at home is very important. It is truly a terrifying thought that a good student could go rogue if they ever decided to but it would only be the fault of the system itself. If slacking off is rewarded with 50 chances (exaggeration) and low punishment; then why would a good student feel compelled to keep being a good student? You are absolutely right that there are way too many events. I hate to be the stick in the mud but I’m sure there can be phenomenal events without the need for there to be more events than school. I would love more academic competitions or things that promote a student to be a better student, that’s why open houses just seem like the ideal thing you know. Thanks for your feedback and for checking this episode out!

I always find it amusing that people believe that we in the U.S. speak "English." We don't speak "English." The people in England or UK speak English, we speak American. The American language is much different from English. We've incorproated many different languages. Much of our language is made of Spanish, German, Irish, French, Latin and Greek. An example of "English" is that when you say biscut, they mean a cookie. In American, we mean a bread. In "English" the word fag means a cigarette. In American, it means to be weary or limp. I'm often amused that Ecudorians teach their children "English" and I have yet to run into someone from the UK.
