My Earliest Fig Varieties for 2021!

In this video I review most of the varieties that have ripened for me early in 2021. Most of these figs are varieties that I have had for a few years, while a couple are new for me this year.
There were a few additional varieties that have ripened for me early in 2021 that I didn't mention in the video, but that shouldn't be forgotten. These include: Red Lebanese Bekaa Valley, Zaffiro, and Malta Black.

I've had the same experience in CT with VDB splitting at the eye. In my experience, it's just not the best here. although...I tried a Nero 600m in Rhode Island, with the same 6b humid climate, and it was one of the best figs I've ever had...in other news..I'll hold onto my LSU pruple, 2022 is year three..

I have the same issue with White Triana, but looks like you are picking it way too early. Allow it to hang 10-14 days until it has many dark sugar spots. Then it tastes better. It holds up well to rain so try it!

Which variety do you have in ground? I’m in NoVa as well. Looking at maybe putting some in ground. Do you do anything special to protect in winter?

I had Improved Celeste, MBVS, Pastilliere, Petite Aubique, and Black Greek in ground. I’ve done different things in the winter. This year I didn’t do anything

Hello, I’m in Ontario. I just bought two figs off an old Italian lady. She has two kinds white and black, cuttings off a the 40 year old mother plants! I would love to figure out the variety. I Believe she brought them from Italy. The mother plants are in a green house

Hollier is pronounced "Ole-YAY". It is a fairly common last name in south Louisiana.
