Hello. Nour. This is a long shot asking you this question to you. I had my 135i worked on at the Orange location back in May this year. I had a good experience and wanted to get some more work done. It seems only the auto body shows up now on Google maps. I tried their phone number all day yesterday and nobody picked up. Noticed they had a new location in Irvine. Drove down to talk to someone and the bay doors were shut. Pushed the bell at the counter and nobody came out to lobby. Place looked super nice to the point it seemed out of my pay grade. Like super car status. Any ideas what is going on? Change of ownership maybe?

Making the rod bearings harder, and harder to detect wear through oil analysis does not make them “improved”. I honestly don’t know why they make the tolerances so tight on the S motors. My neighbor had to change rod bearings in two E46 M3s and swap an entire engine into an E36 due to a spun bearing. A lot of noise is made about the S65 motors rod bearings, but they definitely aren’t the only engines with tolerance issues.

Yea LCI bearings just have different material (copper). It mainly has to do with clearance issues, a oil analysis won’t do anything if you didn’t do it since the car was brand new. Better to pay for rod bearings than a whole motor lol.

@@johnnychimpo7539 LCI is aluminum so won’t show anything in the report. Pre LCI is copper and will show up but i did them regardless because of stories on the forums.

The rod bearing is not actually that bad. You could put 50,000 more miles maybe alot more if you allows the engine to wam up properly and change oil every 5-8,000 miles. Mine e60 M5 has 151,000 miles on the original rod bearing.

It’s actually not that bad. Need better warm up procedure and oil interval between 5-8,000 miles. Mine e60 M5 has 150,000 miles on original rod bearing

No, it’s not that bad. He could put 50,000 miles more on it. My car is a 2010 M5 with 150,000 miles still on the original rod bearing.

@@The_North0 yea complete waste of money. Just don’t rev or beat on the car when it’s cold and change your oil every 3-5k and those would have been fine for 40k more miles. I’ve seen rod bearing that were wayyyy more messed up and the motor was fine. No sense in touching a motor under 60-80k miles.

@@slayerarmy the bearings do not fail because of someone pushing the car hard. The bearings fail because high revs when the motor is cold and lack of oil changes. He could have beat of that car for 4 years and the motor would be fine

Bro I just called SSR Performance to talk to them about possibly doing my Rod Bearings on my BMW and was literally on hold for 45 min and it kept saying I was #1 on the queue and I gave up and hung up. I guess you have to be a KZreadr to get good service from them 😒.

Nour you are doing great job with videos loving it but it’s kind repetitive especially with the e9x and other BMW I don’t hate BMW I like them, but should you try to build a AMG it will be something different and a new experience btw I am a car enthusiast and respect all of the car brands and every car has its pros and cons. ❤️

It’s been reported that oil analysis on the LCI bearings doesn’t help much because the aluminum layer gets obscured with normal aluminum presence in the oil. There is an layer of copper under the aluminum and tin that can be detected. Mine didn’t get changed out until 88k and since they were preLCI the copper was showing. Good peace of mind because I know the previous owner tracked the car. I don’t, and I always wait until the oil is up to temp before driving hard. Now that people know the proper care and feeding of this engine, they can go longer on stock bearings. I do get why some would want to just do the service to settle their doubts. Especially not knowing service history and driving habits of previous owners.
