And has probably spent more time building/rebuilding/installing/deinstalling/reinstalling/changing it then 90% of ED and SC players have actually spent ingame xD That's pretty much the only reason I ain't got a setup, as I play so many other games on a regular basis that it's just not even close to being viable to tinker around with something like that, in relation on how much I'd actually use it

@@Oroberus I respect what you are saying. I just bought 2 alphas with bases and I am going to pick up 2 mounts as well. I reached that point as a gamer where I want an experience and not just another game. So for me, I just want to play one game and play it well and enjoy every moment of it. I also enjoyed the comment about most SC players don’t have that much time in game. I just started at 3.17 because I feel that the mechanics actually offer something to do now. I have killed myself in hilarious ways and each time there is the pain of having to spend all that time getting someplace all over again only to die a different way. Each time I learn and I am more careful. SC has a learning curve and I am so thankful to the Mining guild I joined, without those peeps I may have given up early, but the reward of sticking with it is quite high. So the cost of this setup worth it. We just need to cross our fingers that CIG delivers.

@@Newt211 I 100% understand your point and it's a fair point, thing is ... it's kind of the same for me BUT there is not 1 single game but roughly 5 to 10 to which I'll ALWAYS return and play them again and again and again but those games are usually not viable for specific setup *g* - Battle Brothers - Kenshi - Baldurs Gate - Fallout (1/2/NV, fuck the rest) - Jagged Alliance 2 - ETS2 - Rimworld Only ETS2 would be viable for a setup and all the rest of it just won't work very well If viable/payable, I would indeed have a setup too, including a seperate room for VR xD For everyone who does stick to mostly setup games (or 1 game) I say: Go for it, I've played on setups and even in specific rooms for it and it'S a great experience :)

It sucks for me because I want a set up like that but to get the stuff shipped to me it’s like 300 dollars a piece for each stick and button panel, and about 150 for each mount and about 60 for each mount adapter. And my current bills have me saving about 10 dollars a paycheck

Amazing upgrade! good to see you actually smiling at the end as well. The passion this brings to space sims is incredible!
Ok, this item is now on my every wish list . Thanks for the advice, review and setup suggestions.
Sick set up, but big shout out to that C.K. Socket Set. Very nice.
Great work, please do more like this. So fun!
I have virtually the same setup as Astro, I do keep my throttle in my loop as I use it for ground control. My only complaint is the rubber dust covers on my Mongoost bases one is already cracking. I might reach out for a replacement. Same thing happened to the covers for the cable attachment. Great plastic's and metal work. Slightly dry rubber on one stick. OUT OF THIS WORLD PERFORMANCE! Astro you look very happy sir. My Zaxis gets here Friday!
what a brilliant use of a small space.... I was born in England , but grew up in Canada,, here ,, if you need more space ,, you just "spread" ,, bigger rooms.. bigger houses ,, bigger yards,,, well with the economic reality that has been dealt to us all in the past few years,, WE are all learning to downsize. As people in Europe have done for ages now. when I was younger my family went back to England to visit relatives,, I was amazed at how small the houses were,, the rooms,, the appliances,, even the bathtub, I am amazed you turn out such High Quality KZread Videos after seeing your small space there ... Thank you for showing such an innovative way of using, 'space' , keep up the great work.... .....and yes a long time subscriber to your channel, and even your new channel
If I had the money, i'd go virpil.. but as I look at my wallet.. it's gonna be a no go for me now unless a huge life change happens. i'll continue to use my MS sidewinder. Cheers on the new setup!

Huge life changes can happen in small increments, some of which you can control. Getting there is tough, and may take years, as it did for me. Initially I just tracked expenses in broad categories, but exact amounts, not even actively cutting anything away. Find out your "normal" monthly averages for you. After a while you'll find categories you can improve. TBH, the pandemic helped cutting entertainment, travel and food expenses, but just knowing by about how much it did affect me compared to my "normal" gave me the confidence needed to eventually place my order - and knowing how long it'll take to "compensate" for it economically.

Imagine a vr headset too lol.
Thank you for sharing thus process. I've got a shopping cart full of Virpil but I get unsure about the attachments and it's difficult when I don't have the pieces to see how they actually look and fit on a desk, next to each other. This was helpful!
I’m placing my Virpil order this week. It’s gonna look great in the cockpit I’ve been working on.
Grats on the new gear mate
Actually the coolest thing I've ever seen. Can't wait until I can eventually get one.
I ordered mine (stick, throttle & desk mounts) on the 28th of December and got notification that it shipped yesterday, along with a £143 import tax bill... Oh well, still worth it.
Great job with the setup, walk through and your content!
😆 I did a lot of the same things you did in this setup. I place DCS more the SC or ED. So I took a small shelf piece of wood. I used Thrustmaster OSB buttons. I was able to place them in a position to still use them in VR. When I started playing Star Citizen, I had to use my TrackIR. So, I moved the monitor closer as well.
Phenomenal. You and the setup. Long may you do what you do.
This was exactly the video I needed to see, thank you!
Best space Sim Channel. Watched many of your Elite videos. Hopefully I'll find Same amount of Star Citizen Videos in your Channel once I bought a new PC to play the game
Love this setup! Thanks for sharing.
really love the setup ! and loved the video showing it and the 1 month after :D good video !
Very nice D2A, you have a very understanding partner!
Congrats Astro, that's a great setup.
Amazing Setup , even in my dreams i will not aford them but at least i could see how they look. Have a great time using them in your Space games.
I've had my eye on a Virpil. I was looking for a mounting video to get ideas. Great video.
that's a sweet setup! Once I move next year I plan on building a new cockpit and I'm thinking about investing in a Virpil setup for it, so seeing it in this video gives me a decent feeling about the whole thing, thanks!
Good work Dave, love the new setup o7
That is a very cool setup.
That's pretty sweet. Next year I'm building a new rig, and I think I'm going to go for dual Constellation Alpha (Prime's) with the z-extender on both.
For anyone wondering, this setup from Virpil costs €1,449.40 in total based on current prices.
Wow, Great job!!!
that behringer mixer really stands out between the all the good equipment :D

Awesome setup! And nice elite dangerous background on your monitors.
Just awesome!!
Would have liked to have seen you using the setup to play. Good video, very clean and nice looking setup
What a great setup, hope you enjoy sir o7
props tho you man! This is a beauty of a space setup. damn i like it xD
I wish you have wounderful moments with your new setup.
OK. I can dig that! Subbed.
It looks great, and an excellent opportunity to showcase the virpil kit..and thanks for sharing ..I could probably afford all that, but justifying it is another matter …sadly I share my play space with the family living room, so space is restricted .
I want something like this as I play other games too and this would allow me to still play those other games rather than having to take everything apart.
Awesome setup just moved to pc definitely need sticks !!
Great setup, Monstertech's rail system may have helped too , but this is awesome dude... o7
This has me itching to see more viewers home cockpit reviews.
Very cool setup dude, i wish i had Virpil, the fact they don't have a hard middle point must be so nice when flying.
awesome new setup - im waiting to do one myself. Gotta wait for all the VKB modules to arrive, since buying their stick, Gladiator NXT, im a big fan of this company. :) See you in the Black! PS. You need a bigger monitor :)

gladiator is a amazing stick i love mine
Great video. I change to a controller on foot in Star Citizen and use game glass so I am not in menus very much but great for just getting around and basic FPS action
lovely Setup my Dude
At thing of beauty. Virpil makes some quality gear. But my wallet feels the impact quite sharply.
I ended up going with virpil sticks and control panels just like you have, but I went with the monstertech mounts instead of virpil. That way i can have a small mouse pad on the outside of each stick, it holds my mouse and my razer gamepad, which i use the gamepad for wasd movement and like 8 or so keybinds that I could not place on the sticks or control panels, have not touched my keyboard in over a year while I play Elite or Starr Citizen. The I Place my monitors on a triple monitor mount to raise them up and bit and give me the wrap around feel while in the cockpit.
I wish I had room in my den to build such a setup.
you could also get some monstertech mounts for the chair . i use them for my thurstmaster and they swing back when not in use. i just have my flight stuff hooked up into a 4 port usb 3 under the chair and then use a usb extension from the desk to the chair . works great
I like it, only thing I'd change is your desk to a electric standing desk to allow for on the fly adjustments, and your keyboard to a 60% keyboard minimise it's footprint as much as possible.
I have VPC ACE Collection Pedals. They are fantastic, heavy, smooth. Only problem with Virpil is you have to act fast if you see something you want in stock, they sell out very fast. I have the Warthog HOTAS now but when I get some play money saved I will get the Virpil HOTAS setup,
Very good video thank you
You now need that larger monitor for comfortable viewing distance.
The dual constellation with the 0 attachment is brilliant, I've never looked back to HOTAS. But then I enhance it with Gamerglass (couple of stands so I can use more than one tablet), no idea why people are obsessed with other button-gadgets.
Thanks for sharing this incredible setup... now U need a bigger screen ! :D
The monitor looks wayyy too low.
I had the same problem with keyboard/mouse. I basically have come to the same solution, but I took a gaming keypad instead of a full keyboard in the middle. The only issue is when I need to type, I have to reach for the fullsize keyboard on the desk.
I recently got a Warbrd + Alpha-L with a z-extension. I really wanted to like it but there were enough issues for me that I ended up removing the extension and just going with a straight vertical mounted stick. Here's the problems that I had with it: 1) I found it really hard to feel where the center of the range of motion was. This led to a loss of precise control and a tendency to drift sideways. I installed the stronger springs and that helped a bit, but didn't make the problem go away. 2) For me, the Alpha grip isn't really a good match for the z-extension. When used sideways, it's just too thick to be gripped well, especially when using my thumb on the switches while doing maneuvers. My hands are on the large side and I still had issues. A Constellation Delta might solve this problem, but they're not easy to find these days.
I have basically the same setup myself, just the left grip is Constellation Delta and Thrustmaster TPR pedals. Amazing stuff. Sometimes I just feel that I'm spending more time in Joystick Gremlin than playing the game. :D Ended up building a dedicated simpit though since I managed to find a space for it. Currently have a 3d printer running and printing few extra panels.
Yo DTEA have you ever thought about getting printed magnetic sheets with control mappings for each game? super handy to have and easily swappable!
Great video, thanks for the list of components! I'm going to order desk mounts for my virpil hotas set and not everything was clear to me from the virpil store site.
Chair mount the sticks desk mount the boxes split on left and right of the desk where the sticks used to be and move in closer to your keyboard
Great budget beginner setup! And you have 9 unanswered calls from my friend Veeee-Arrrrrrrr.
Spooky - you're retiring your MongoosT-50, and mine arrives on Friday (my first ever bit of Virpil gear - I'll be buying a bit at a time as it's not cheap). Pretty quick from order (it will be around 12 days) but I expect the backlog for throttles is a lot smaller than that for sticks....
Im looking to build a new gaming rig with SC in mind. I adore the space flight side of SC and want something similar to your setup. Though i think im going to go with a star trek style seat/control. Going to use my recliner as the base for the captains seat.
Nice setup. The problem with all these desk mounts etc is that it pushes you away from the desk. I my self like to be close to the desk, dont know why just feels normal. But then the other option is build youre own desk for flight simming, which can come into its own problems if you have a lot of peripherals for other things. Like i have the Honeycomb that i like to use sometimes. Then if i wanna use an airbus i have the TCA then the virpil stuff. It really becomes a headache LOL.
you need a 55 inch oled TV my friend thats very important for this setup! Nice build!
Instead of spending 1.000€ in stuff I'm going to simply raise my chair ;P So everything will be on my desk, but I'll be seating higher Very nice setup Astro! Thanks for the video
@bunker1213

For me, that means my legs don't go in under the desk anymore. But it depends on how high/low you want your controllers.
Next improvement should be an articulated monitor arm support so you can adjust it for better ergonomics and bring the screen closer to you now that you moved yourself back.
I ordered a very similar HOSAS setup on New Year's Eve, except with the mini mount and a keyboard adapter instead of the panels. Not figured out what to do about the mouse yet but my desk is curved so probably going to have it on the right side where it's closer to me. The order has not been processed by Virpil yet though so I'm guessing their Christmas sale went well hehe.

@@sonny9608 I "only" got Alpha R+L, a Z extension, 2 WarBrd bases, 2 small & 2 mini desk mounts + adapters. Was pondering the pedals and extra cams, or maybe a panel, but not sure they fit my style, maybe later. Don't have much space on this desk heh. I really hope the Alphas feel as good as they look. Currently using dual Saitex Cyborgs. They are a bit too plastic and light, but with really good adjustment possibilities. Alphas do look way more sturdy and the extra on-stick inputs will hopefully make up for them all being fixed positions.
Would you show us your key bindings with this setup?
Nice setup there am gonna go Virpil after I get my Owatch 6DOF motion Platform, after I but that sucker then I will kit it out with Virpil stuff
I was sold on a constellation throttle before I watched this video, now I'm sold and impatient.
@DowntoEarthAstronomy
Жыл бұрын
Oh i know that feeling all too well (No spoilers, but i may have something very exciting on it's way in the mail ;-) )
Honestly, for on foot, I'd just use the thumb stick on the left stick for forward/back/strafe and aim with the mouse.
We used to call this sort of thing OPM (Pronounced Opium) which means Other People's Money. It's great when you get freebies.
My Virpil clamps broke twice already. First the screw in the clamp stripped it's thread, and now recently the pins in the clamp broke from metal fatigue because I moved them every time I needed to do some coding for work. I am currently looking on doing some home engineering work to make it stronger. Another warning: be very careful of the twisting motion on your new throttle stick setup. It will put enormous strain on the wrist muscles and can cause a repetitive strain injury. I disabled the twist option in my setup after I picked up a repetitive strain injury and now use rudder pedals for yaw. Expensive but much cheaper than all the visits to the physio.

been using Monstertech clamps for over a year and moved them almost every day... no problems so far. Also they don't stick out over the desk that far. Wouldn't trade my Constellation Alpha for anything tho :)

@@cmdrrubbelspritz2115 Yes I would have to import those if I want to get them. Maybe I will make my own versions using alu extrusions.
theres a little Xbox controller joystick on the Constellation Alpha which you can bind to walking. You can play around with all of the buttons on both Joysticks to almost completely Eliminate the Keyboard from your set up.
check out the ProtoArc xk01 tri fold keyboard. might be the perfect solution for such a tight space
I would love to have a motorized chair for star citizen when it full releases I plan to make/buy one with a full sim set-up
This is amazing I thought the only way to get close to this was spend 1k in a monstertech chair xd
Nice
Awesome setup, just needs a OLED to finish the immersion experience! I have the OLED, missing the virpil gear 😅
you could also try a superslim wireless keyboard, nice video thanks:)
You have a really nice peripherals setup but the monitors seem small and lackluster Time for a big upgrade!!
I didn't realise the Virpil kit was so very modular. It's very cool to see but I can see I'd even have to replace my desk to make Virpil kit a viable option so my budget would be astronomical!!!!
That is an amazing set-up, will try to build something similar one day! What was that keyboard please, I have never seen a keyboard with detachable numpad, looks awesome and very practical, I could definitely used something like that! I'm just started in E:D but I already know, flying on M+K will not suffice for much longer!

Very nice setup Astro. Congrats. How can you play on such a small monitor though?? My 43" seems small for me at times lol.
Nice setup. I ordered a Yaw2 gaming chair and a set of virpils would be nice. One question though. I can not see the mount of your throttle in the video?! Where is it!
What you really need now is a bigger screen. With all those controls, you no longer need voice control!
Cool setup I wouldn't mind having that on Xbox
Bought same setup after watched the Video:). Can you maybe make a video how you setup the Joysticks in Star Citizen.
Very nice. Why didn't you show us the interior of that control board when you had it open?
Envious of your setup! I'm just doing some online research to start planning my setup and came across your video. Obviously I have no experience in the games you might be playing but just a thought - to avoid any conflict between throttle and keyboard and / or the need to move the keyboard ... why not replace the keyboard with the number pad mounted just in front of the throttle control - and then just program your keys? You would just need to add a piece of 2mm sheet metal between the throttle and the mount that extends far enough in front of the throttle as to essentially provide a table-top for the number pad. Or you could just scrap that setup and send it to me 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
I'm interested to see what you would change after a month or so of using it this way. I have a desk that faces my flight seat (Playseat Air Force). I turn my monitor around when I am in the flight seat. I expected that I would fly in the seat, land then jump up, run around and fps from the desk. The ship, SRV and foot combo has really presented us with an ergonomic/space use challenge. On top of this I still much prefer VR when flying, love rudders and occasionally want to game while at a standing desk. I am still looking for solutions.
