Oh my dogs do eat fast. Always in a eating race against each other, then they rotate to the others bowl hoping to find something forgotten.

I often put 2 of mine in crates while they eat because yes that can sometimes happen. ;)

We have a 9 wk old BC who, beyond eating fast, gets really worked up (heart and adrenaline pumping, losing focus except for on food) whenever it's breakfast or dinner time. She tosses slow feeders and is uninterested in scatter feeding. Any advice on how to keep her calm whenever dog food is present?

The good news is she sounds food motivated! :) I would do a lot of feeding by hand on a boundary because it sounds like she will need calm training. So give her a couple of kibbles (or chicken or chunks of something that is part of her daily food) while she is on her bed or mat. Then you can throw a kibble off the bed and say "get it", then reward extra kibble for coming back on the boundary. Continue feeding on the boundary, tossing the odd kibble away and telling her to "get it". But always more food (= more value) on the boundary. You don't have to feed her all at once, spread her food allowance over the day. I also would use frozen things, and healthy chewy things on a boundary. My fast eating dogs enjoy the Toppls. A lot of people use Kongs too. When Raven was little I would have many frozen hoofs and Toppls and would give them to him several times a day on a boundary or in a crate. It's also good for their teething. If you don't have time to freeze that's okay too, for some pups frozen things are too difficult. Chewing is very calming for young pups.

@@TheDogVlog I will try this also! My BC Zoe Rose is 10 months now and is a nervous girl. However I learned quickly that hooves and horns are to be chewed on outside. My house smelled horrible for 3 days!🤣

awesome video! I have a little problem with my dog that I really just don't know how to help him with. :( I need to leave him outside by himself some of the day and he has a really hard time being outside by himself. He starts barking and yipping at the door, and then he'll bark at anything else outside that he can. I'd really rather him be happier about being outside, and not bark all the time. I really don't know what to do, so I was wondering if you would have any advice?

Does your dog bark or yip when you are separate from him within your house too? I'm currently studying separation related behaviours. Most dogs want our company but some will panic and have an escalated reaction when left alone. In those cases you don't want to leave them alone to bark it out, but instead slowly condition them to being separate. If your dog starts barking at 5 seconds then you work on the door and leaving/walking away first. If your dog starts to panic at one minute, you start before that. It's a lot to explain but these books are excellent: amzn.to/3r85AV8 (this is an affiliate link, but you don't pay any extra if you buy - I recommend these on my Amazon page also.) Julie Naismith is my separation training coach/teacher. I will be talking more about separation anxiety in future videos. I have a dog with extreme anxiety and it's definitely challenging. The other thing to consider is that your dog could be afraid of something outside. My dog Skene is very triggered by outdoor sounds like other dogs barking. I am working on increasing his confidence.
