My DIY “Over-engineered ESP8266 Flashing Device” for Easy Sonoff & Shelly Tasmota Flashing

Ғылым және технология

This was a project I came up with in my head, wondering if it would work. Today all the parts finally got here and I got to put my ideas to the test. I am here to report a great success!
Now based on my work, you can take this concept and build your own “over-engineered” flashing device in your own way or follow the parts list below and make one just like mine.

Very cool! This is something I knew that could be done but was never sure. I'll try Termite next time I play with one of my ESP8266s, seems easier to configure WAPs than hrough Arduino IDE Thanks for sharing!

Nice idea. When I've been flashing similar devices I've not found it necessary to release GPIO0 though, in order to flash. Once the flashing is done, of course, I no longer ground it.

That's good to know didn't know if it was needed. But since I started with Sonoff's I was not willing to keep holding that button down :) I guess this is a good procedure so I don't re-enter flash mode on reboot. That or replace the ground for GPIO0 with a momentary.

Nice Yoko arcade stick. Are you using a Brooks board? Also what fighting games do you play?

I built that a LONG time ago, not sure if Brooks even existed. It has the MC Cthulhu inside of it. I don't game much anymore just no time, but back in the day I was into the classics like Street Fighter Alpha 3, Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat 2/3, but the game that really got me wanting a Joystick and I put a lot of time in on with MVC2. I built an entire arcade control panel using Dreamcast Controllers as my interface just so I could play it at home with friends. Looks like the build and pics are still alive here: forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=89419.0

@@ViciousXUSMC Jesus .... I wish we were friends back in 2000. I would have appreciated what you did 100x more than your friends probably did. Sounds awesome! Plus, I would have been able to give you a challenge to boot. ;-)
