I love these old roll-top desks. Throughout the years I've eyed them myself, always tempted, but my living situation doesn't lend me a lot of space, and like you noted: rolltops aren't very computer friendly. I needed a space that could be for gaming, writing, papercraft, sewing, quilting, and working from home. I ended up settling on the Ikea 'Alex' and while I love the customizability, and definitely have 'roll top desk nook and cubby' envy here lol. It's such a beautiful piece, and to have it act as an heirloom is even more special!

Hi SorceressZila. Thanks for stopping by and sharing. My computer desk is an refurbished Ikea find. Great desks for lots of different uses! I'm very lucky to have been gifted this desk and doubly lucky to have a great spot for it! Take care and have a wonderful day!

I have a Secretary Desk that I purchased at World Market during the pandemic since my wife and I had to work from home, we needed our own space. She used it mostly during that time, but now it only houses my things since she doesn’t journal or have a paper planner. She’s all digital, even when it comes to grocery lists. But as of now I keep my inks, my canon ivy mini printer (a hand-held portable printer), my collection of paperclips, sticky notes, highlighters, and other small supplies. It has a top that flips open and a pull-out shelf. But I loved seeing ur setup! I am planning on moving my stamps over to the desk so I can actually use them! Thanks for the video!

Hi anicame2. Thanks for sharing! Would love to see a pic of the secretary desk. What kind of wood/stain color is it? Glad to hear you're still using it. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful artifact of a desk!! I’d love to buy myself a roll top desk. The Amish can make really great rolltop desks they start about over $1000 USD. Happy Writing!

Thanks for this wonderful video. I have been looking for a desk like this, but have been unsuccessful. so, i have decided to go to a local furniture maker, and show him your video, and hopefully he will be able to build me the customised desk of my dreams!!!! Thank you.

Best of luck! I'd be curious if he can and what the cost of that would be. Do share when you find out.

Thanks for the tour Frank. Nice piece of furniture with an interesting provenance. My computer sits on a painted piece of wood fastened to an old singer sewing machine base. My craft table I sourced at the Salvation Army-a lovely 30x54" solid maple trestle table. A bookshelf hutch thingie sits on top of that to hold all the stamps, paints, brushes, stickers, etc. I saved a stand alone jewelry box of my mother-in-laws that is about 39" high with five drawers and a small cabinet. I painted it a fun color and changed out the knobs. The "ring drawer" is velvet lined and perfect to nestle my FP's in that I'm not using. The other drawers hold various FP related bits and office items. My small room is chock full. Took a break to watch your video during a culling/declutter venture. I look forward to your interview with your nana.

Are you really this tidy and organized? My art room is crammed with far too many notebooks, inks, paints, etc.

Lol I try to be. I can't seem to start with a messy desk but when I get going it's an explosion. And then reset after.
