But it is mentioned as "this sickness trying to take over" i interpret the demons to be some sort of mental illness anything from depression to even a addiction such as drugs or alcohol.

Hello, just wanted to write this and say thank you. I listened to this song when it first came out. I was just a young pup then, just barely a year into double digits. It hit hard when I first listened to this, to the point I was all blubber and tears. Now, almost ten years later, I can confidently say that most of this song, while still relatable in some aspects, now holds but a mist of nostalgia. I've found I needed no concouring of my demons, just understanding. I saved myself from them and even befriended them, if you will. This song was the first ever song to truly open me up and rip my heart out before building it back together peice by peice. While I'm not dissing my rough childhood, this song was healing to me, because it validated me in a way. Thank you for breaking me, as well as giving me something to poor my heart and soul into, to share my burden of the times I needed you. This song made it more bearable. Keep up the amazing work, you deserve all that you've done 💜

i used to listen to this all the time in middle school on the bus ride home. it would help release all my pent up stress and anxiety. now i'm close to graduating high school, reminiscing on my past, and all the shit i went through. its insane how much I've changed over the years.
