    Kelly I am so happy for you that you are going back to school! (I hope it’s NYU). I went back to school in my 50s and got three degrees (with honors), over six years, because when I was young I was married to an abusive person, and my goal was to just get my two kids safely to adulthood. Being true to yourself and never becoming stagnant will get you through the tough times and keep your spirits lifted. I really relate to what you said about being misunderstood. It is the most hurtful and offensive thing to those of us who try to always have positive intent. 😊❤️

    I dropped out of college when I was 20 years old and it haunted me for years. I started my first business when I was 21 years old and began having great success when I was 23. I went back to college at 25. I had friends and family who didn't get why I was going back because I was doing so well in life. However, it was personal and important to me. I often hear KZreadrs becoming stressed or burnt out but what I don't get is why are you chasing anything - you already made it - now it's time to focus on creating what YOU consider is valuable and sharing with the world what's truly in your heart. Why force anything to chase some numbers. Nothing really amazing comes from ego, it comes from the heart and presence and taking your time nurturing an idea. Imagine someone like Picasso or DaVinci forcing their paintings - just to make as many as possible... It don't work that way... great things take time...

    KZread video creation is comparable to being asked to write a 4 thousand word essay every week and to create and add visuals, keep your skin and hair looking great, an immaculate apartment and get an A - C grade every time. You have to think up the essay title, research it, write it, review it, re-write with and find the music too. Some people just copy someone else 'homework'. Some just read the book and record. Some just turn in F grade work. But you might get very stressed if you were once an A grade student who slipped repeatedly down to the F's. You can only compare it to being a journalist in a newspaper or magazine because that is what you are. Selling content so that advertisers can feed your audience their 'advert'. That is why news 'drama' led. You compete for attention. That is why they are stressed.

  • @bookofgloryx

    @bookofgloryx

    @@goodgirlsguide Very eloquently written :) I agree and it's unfortunate that most of them fall into this trap however I know quite a few creators who don't give a damn about the algorithm - they focus on the stories they want to tell and don't worry about views, they make less videos but you can rewatch them a ton of times because there's so much value in them. I guess you can be the type of creator that creates for mass every-day consumption or you create content that has longevity. No choice is wrong, you just gotta do what works for you. I do however believe and know from my own life experience that burn out usually happens when you put yourself out of integrity - when you do things you don't really want to do (for too long).

  • @dovenicolevlogs

    @dovenicolevlogs

    @@bookofgloryx honestly, those creators might still worry about views and retention rate. They just don’t mention it as much of they fight it cause they’re more interested in the creative side. What I will say from a very small channel standpoint is that growing on KZread takes years. Literal years. It’s not like tiktok where you can get a random 1M followers who don’t even know you for a short video. On KZread, you absolutely fight for every single subscriber. It’s an expensive and exhausting process. So by the time you actually do grow, you’re already used to stressing about it. Basically it’s like being less fortunate, working for years, then suddenly you climb the ladder enough to have the home or car you want. Time off. Nice clothes. And you almost can’t step into it because you’re so used to fighting to survive.

    @@dovenicolevlogs @BookOfGlory - You're both right. You can stress on your way up and stress to stay on top. @BookofGlory your perspective is more that of an 'author of classic books' who hopes to be found and appreciated as a legacy. @chrisrianbosse, yours is the graduate in a corporate job strategy or mentality where they work hard for recognition. Whichever strategy, structure and form of your copy or art is the most important element to ensure viewer and personal satisfaction.

  • @dovenicolevlogs

    @dovenicolevlogs

    @@goodgirlsguide I getcha except Book of Glory's perspective just isn't accurate for most KZreadrs and just because they don't seem stressed doesn't mean they aren't. It could just be that they stress between uploads and that causes them to stall. Or they're burning out. Or they're simply waiting on approval for sponsors. I'm usually really open-minded to different perspectives, but Book of Glory's seems to dismiss the realities. And since I've lived them myself for 2 years and have a lot of interaction with KZreadrs, I know that there's a lot she missed in that comment.

    I have to tell you girl...college doesn't necessarily add value to your life. Especially today with social media! In many ways, I feel my experience of college did a lot of damage to my mindset and mentality. I thought I "had" to go to college. I had to work the typical 9-5. I had to act and think a certain way...10 years later (I'm 35 with a degree in journalism) I used it for 5 years in NYC at a daily major newspaper and I was miserable and burnt out.I ended up leaving to become a cop (nypd) and that was even worse!! lol College doesn't equal success...it doesnt make a person any better or worse than someone who is able to pursue passion projects like KZread and make a career out of it. In many ways I WISH I had thought more about my likes, dislikes, my boundaries, etc....instead of worrying about checking all the boxes in life, like getting a degree. If you want to get a degree or go back to school for the experience, great. I don't regret it.............BUT it's definitely not all it's cracked up to be, especially with the opportunities available to anyone with an iphone or laptop and a dream.

    Always have an exit strategy. I worked as a live performer for almost 2 decades, and "quit" multiple times over the years. Now that I'm making KZread videos, I can see so many parallels to being a live performer insofar as dealing with the feelings of producing art and overwhelm and 2nd guessing yourself. An exit strategy (a reasonable exit strategy, becoming a gazillionaire isn't reasonable) is vital to staying sane.

    Absolutely. As any type of performer the highs are high and the lows are very low. i’ve experienced various types of jobs and I think I am best as a part-time creator. I achieved my goal of making a certain amount of money over the past two years but I just don’t have it in me to continue at this rate and hit the same goals. This is probably one of my favorite videos I’ve made because it’s completely honest. I also liked randomly dancing to Beyoncé and posting it with no expectations and no monetization. 😂 reminds me of the days before everything in the world became chaotic and when I focused on making this a business. That’s because going fulltime was was not part of my life plan. I was in the Air Force and had a very clear life plans. This was my hobby. It’s cool that I went in this direction but uploading content every day about my life is weird and it feels rudderless because there literally is no story. The story is that I upload content…about uploading content LOL. I am probably a perfectionist but there must be a topic or a story. Even if I returned as a part-time college blogger that would give me a STORY.

    Interesting perspective. I was gonna say that I deem college unnecessary for someone in your position, given that "education" is out there for the taking online and in many more places. But after hearing your reflection it does kinda make sense for the community and routine aspect. And I think adult-student life after having worked gives you a different perspective than someone just going through the "Middle school -> High school -> SAT's -> College with maybe or maybe not having a part time job or some internships" doesn't get. I would suggest getting involved in student clubs, those are the best way of getting a community, plus are less "age based" compared to just going to classes or events like parties where you do see people gravitating to people their age. And I'd also say majoring in something that you truly find interesting and that you want to grow in, something like philosophy or math for example, is the way to go and maybe try to stay away from stuff like "marketing major" or nebulous stuff like that that you think you're going to be able to tie into what you do as a youtuber (falling into the trap of thinking a degree in marketing is going to get you clouted up "in the future" when the actual thing that matters is that you actually have built a channel with 600k+ subscribers). 50% of college is "the experience" and "the networking" etc but the other 50% is what'll keep you going. That's just my point of view though as someone who took longer than expected in finishing his degree. Do whatever floats your boat lol

    I totally agree with you. Going to college would be for structure and networking mostly. I totally don’t need to go. It’s just something that always means something to me since neither of my parents finished their bachelors and my mom was in a time where she got hired pretty much in school and managed to get a job today that you need a masters MINIMUM for.
