So touching and beautiful. My 8 year old daughter yearns for a father figure in her life because her Dad’s rejection of her is so unbearable. It’s terrible. This gives me hope and the courage to open myself up to the possibilities of meeting a man worthy enough to be in our lives. Am so guarded. This will be my motivation. Thank you for sharing.

It’s so heartwarming to see you so involved with your girls and understanding and gaining knowledge of their diagnoses. My son is autistic and my daughter has adhd both have spd. And their dad loves them but he doesn’t do anything to educate himself in order to help them and me. It all falls on me. Which can be exhausting. I hope more fathers learn how important it is to the entire family that they get involved!

Real men, always adopt their steps children with their hearts. No need for papers, those children are lucky sometimes are blessed by having 2 fathers. Sadly sometimes they only have the step-father. I have seen this sceneral, over an over, of the blessings of having a real man stepping into fatherhood for their step-children. I also know real fathers who lived with their blood daughters and sons, who never had a relationship other than to punish and to provide financial support. That leaves their children open to so very much heart aches 💔. I have been blessed with two assum men being Great Fathers to my children 💙 💞💞 💙. My ex-husband who is like an uncle to my younger ones. My Wonderful Husband who beyond his upbringing took me with my children. They both are human with many mistakes, yet they both are Devoted Fathers. As a very young child I would pray for a father whom would be interested in spending time with me. The prayer was answered in my own children's childhoods. 🙏 🤲🙏💝❤️‍🔥💝❤️‍🔥

I'm the Bonus Mom to 2 gorgeous kids... Skyla, 17, and Anthony, 16. I've been in their lives since they were 6 & 5. Being someone new in their lives & them having gone through traumas in the past with their bio mom, the 1st handful of years were challenging & eventful to say the least. Anthony was misdiagnosed at 8 with Oppositional Defiance Disorder & were advised by his psychiatrist to stay stern & strict & not to be afraid of disciplining him when he'd "act out." Their father & I hated this. Anthony seemed to always "act out" & "misbehave." He & I tried so many different ideas for the entire family to participate in as attempts for any kind of positive change at all or at least a glimmer of a not so negative moment with Anthony. We had even thrown a little family party(balloons, streamers, cake, & ice cream) for Anthony when he had 2 days in a row without having a what psych referred to as "temper tantrums/fits"(randomly screaming at the top of lungs &/or crying hysterically completely unprovoked, destroying his & the family's belongings, refusing to attempt eye contact when anyone would speak to him, constantly fidgeting & playing with items that appeared to everyone else as trash.. broken items & such... speaking under his breath all the time, & yelling at the family when he would be in another room that "no one gets it"...."no one knows what is like"). All of our attempts seemed to have failed, some failed horribly. Not until Anthony was 12, during an initial session with a new therapist for him which both myself & his father were present, did we even fathom that him being on the spectrum could've been a possibility. Once finally, officially diagnosed with ASD & ADHD, his dad & I were so relieved! Everything was beginning to make sense now, the ways he'd interact with us/his friends/strangers, not understanding personal boundaries, having trouble grasping when & why others reacted as they had during certain situations, genuinely not understanding why he'd be "in trouble" for behaving the way he had been, & so much more. We both hated the advise & techniques that the old psych pushed on us. At the same time, we felt like we had failed him by listening to his Dr & not enough to what he was trying to tell us. Within the 1st year after his diagnosis, the relationships between Anthony & the rest of the family had grown & become so strong & loving & full of mutual trust(finally!). We all have a deeper understanding of Anthony & of each other now. About a year and a half ago, Anthony came up to me out of the clear blue & asked me if he could start calling me "Mom." HUUUGE moment & I thought my heart was going to explode! Something that helped Anthony understand & accept being Autistic was explaining to him that, even though the word "disorder" is in the name, that's not quite what it is. For him, it was a gift, the ability of being so beautifully different from the rest. He loved that.

My parents weren’t gonna tell me when I was diagnosed when I was 12. I found out when I saw my gramma texting my dad’s cousin who I didn’t know, telling him that I didn’t know I had autism and when I asked her what she meant she berated me for snooping (I had just been staring at her phone screen not what was on it until I saw my name and that she was texting my dad’s cousin so then I wondered why she’d be talking to him about me) and she made me feel I was actually at fault. I didn’t tell my parents thinking that they’d chew me out too and that I was in the wrong anyway so what was the point. Until a few months later when I saw “Asperger’s syndrome” on a paper I handed to my PE teacher. I asked them about it, they finally told me, and I nervously told them what happened still expecting to get scolded. They didn’t and my dad said I did nothing wrong and my gramma was the 1 in the wrong not me and she knew it which was why she got mad at me. Apparently my parents told her not to tell anyone at all. I actually cried when my dad told me I wasn’t at fault since I actually believed I was. The reason they didn’t want to tell me? Well because when I was diagnosed with adhd when I was *6* I kept saying “oh it’s because of my adhd.” Mind you I was 6 and didn’t actually fully understand what that meant just that it meant I was different but in my mind I was still kinda normal I guess idk how to explain it. Anyway my dad also said it was because of their ideas of what autism was at the time as they didn’t have a full understanding of it. They also didn’t want me to think of myself as less than or broken. I am actually glad that I know now as recently it feels like I’ve found my people. People who are like me, who I relate to in ways I didn’t know were possible. It’s nice!

I think dad should let the lady of the night, Lead. Other than that you both, slay my heart, how could any relationship beat out a mother and her child, yes it is a daughter and father, hands down, this is my input, a father is the first teacher of his daughter on how another man is to treat her, one day So this pairing right here gets my vote...GOD BLESS FATHERS AND THEIR DAUGHTERS, for they will start this blessing them selves one day, and it will be beautiful and loving all over again...Amen
