No matter what, if there is AMG hammer in the video I’ll watch
The E30 M3’s topping $150k was painful. The R34 Skyline’s clearing $300k was a kick to the teeth. But now these Hammer’s are a million dollars, this is just getting quite frankly ridiculous.

Idk, hammers are a pretty essential part of construction and quite a few diy projects. Are they worth a million, idk. But they sure are handy.

Hammers are such an interesting vehicle to me. It has so much class for being such a fun car. Let alone the power for the age it was built in. 10/10 vid Vinwiki
I love hearing stories of owners actually driving and enjoying their cars 😌
Amen... cars are meant to be driven! I had several people over the years of my ownership of my CTS-V wagon astounded that I would DD it... putting 80K miles on it in less than 4 years. But IMHO, it's all about those smiles-per-gallon and if you don't drive them you can't enjoy them.

I paid for it, I intend to get my money's worth and honor the designers by driving it like they intended it to be driven. I wouldn't drive something that didn't make me happy and if it makes me happy I'm going to drive it all the time.

I would have liked to have heard the reaction to when it moved from 30k to 1M and the realization.
The coupe has one of most beautiful rear ends in the industry 🥰
The shape and lines of this car is in my top 3 of all time.

I've never understood why AMG voluntarily ignores the massive market for manual V8s

Too integrated with Mercedes-Benz now. More complication= higher service cost. Dealerships don't make as much money as you think from new cars. The money is in the used cars and service centers.

@@jalenad11 Exactly, they really started to lose any control or influence in the early 2010’s. The best Amg’s were made in the late 80’s and 90’s anyway. Some of the post merger 90’s Amg’s are my favourites.
I remember having. When are they? Mercedes hammers in my mates garden. We just smashed it up and then scrapped it. I think we paid £200 for it with a body kit on it regional Mercedes alley wheels, spoiler body kit and aftermarket body kit all the inside original lights. Aftermarket light you open the boot. It was full of stuff
Favorite stories on vinwiki. And I think that’s not just me and Ed understands that well but there’s only that much pre merger AMG content you can do.

Thanks, nice to hear that people agree and approach their cars Similarly.
Hey Ed, Hammers are interesting vehicles but like everything else these days, it's overpriced!!! 🙄
Amazing escalation on the prices for these cars! Can’t believe Ed wasn’t involved in jacking these prices j/k 😂
Great approach to running 90's MB which are if purchased wisely & looked after with at least a moderate effort, so easy to live with as a DD. I say that 5yrs into owning a 280E in the same 199 finish & condition as the coupe. Everything works & it drives like a hot knife thru butter. My "issues" in the last year were blower fan & wiper mechanism needing strip-down/lubrication (a pleasant day-ish or so of my time to do a fastidious job) & an excessively high idle at start-up (20 mins of internet research & a €30.00 coolant temp sensor). I average aprox 10k km per year & hate every one of them. :)
Hammers are great but should not be worth more than 100k at best.

With only 30 made, only 13 in the USA, maybe ~20 are left at a guess, (there is literally a comment here about how someone had a beat up one in a garden then scrapped it so even if every other car somehow survived that's just 29 examples!!!!) so sheer rarity alone would make it at least 100k valuable. With so few around any kind of demand for them AT ALL will skyrocket prices, since there will simply not be any more available than already exist, such is the way with old things.

Hammers are like every other car. They are worth however much a rich fool will pay for them. In a world where 2014 Mazda 2 Sports are selling for 15k (Local Five Star dealership), anything is possible.

I seen a civic r during covid brand new MSRP of 109k !!!! In yellow an red, terrible spec going from dealership - dealership. Also a accord V6 premium ( or w.e they call the top tier one) for 60k insane!
so hes looking for the 1% rich customers who give him an open check book. we all want that but its only .1% of customers.
150k to go thru it and fix everything that needs fixing? Shop is putting a 120k in their pocket.

Actually not a car guy I just enjoy the stories on occasion when the title catches my attention, so naturally I spent the whole video waiting for the reveal on how it came to become a $1M car. 😑
I love Vinwiki stories. But there is a downside, after listening to dozens of stories and the little side comments and inuendos I am getting to know the story tellers too well. For example, every town has a Rabbit, that likeable guy that no matter how well he does or how great the gig is he just can't help crossing the line or pushing the envelope. Then there is Doug who I now switch off when I find he is the story teller I believe he can best be described on KZread as a bit of a dick.
