I love that grin on your Dad's face at the end😂
Well done, Clare's dad, brother and nephew. 👍☘️
Wie schön, dass sie für ihre Arbeit zur Erhaltung des Erbes der Stadt anerkannt werden! Ich bin so froh, dass sie die Parade und die Ehre genossen haben!
Ohhhhhh you’re dad is just the cutest ever!!!!!!!! That looked like a lovely parade….just goes to show that you don’t have to live in a big city to do a parade. Watching this brought a tear to my eye.
How lovely for them to be recognized for their work in maintaining the heritage of the town! So glad they enjoyed the parade and the honour!
I have family members who live in the same village as your dad😊. Xxx
They called them "smacks" where I grew up but basically the same slice of potato, deep fried and COVERED in malt vinegar. YUM. Grand Marshal is obviously loving the day. Best Grand Marshal.
Great honour for your dad and colleagues to have been honoured for all their work. It is big news here in Montréal when the Grand Marshall is announced for our St Patrick’s Day parade and we all hope it won’t snow that day! Craved salt and vinegar potato chips when I was pregnant so I share your concern for the lack of vinegar 😊
So nice that your dad was honoured like this.
That is immensely enjoyable that your father was a Grand Marshal. That said I was legitimately concerned that the dance group at the end was going to go up in flames

☘️☘️☘️💚💚💚 what a grand day
Congrats to Dad & his friends on their long careers and I wish them all fun & adventures in their well deserved retirement!
Loved seeing your da in the parade 🥰 He’s so sweet and I always hope he’s keeping well. And it’s so endearing hearing the parade MC say “Please god, we’ll all be back next year.” Reminds me of my granddad - whenever I’d hug him goodnight and say “See ya in the morning”, he’d always respond “Please god.” I don’t know why that made me tear up 🥹 From what I’ve seen, the local parades are the one to go to! Dublin seems like a big US marching band parade. I love the local bit of humour these smaller parades add. Def would be on my bucket list to attend some day 😄
Congratulations to your dad on being a Grand Marshal very good parade to watch good video you have a great day now
The MC is a legend, you can’t teach that Irish wit.
This was great! Your dad being honored as Grand Marshall for the Parade was fantastic! He looked so happy!!! Your nephew was a perfect traffic cone! He’ll need to hold on to the costume and take is soon arriving little cousin out nice and safe each Halloween for trick-or-treating. 😉
Congratulations to your dad, and a very belated Lá Fhēile Pádraig sona daoibh. 🍀
Congrats on the fun Claire.. another great video
Greetings from Upper Left USA. The vinegar... YES!!! 🙌 Why is it such a precious thing now? I recently had to go to FOUR different stores before I could find a bottle of malt vinegar. 🤷🏼♀️ Congrats to your dad. Looked like a fun day.
Loved this Video small village parade like that just seems wonderful. Hope you're feeling well Clare and Thank you for the Vid.
This is amazing!!!! Thank you for sharing these moments with us! Your Dad is as amazing as you are!
What a nice town you have. Father is a charming gentleman.
That's so cool 😃, it's amazing the whole family is famous... Way to go 👏👏👏... CHEERS
Thank you for sharing this with us 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 CONGRATULATIONS to your dad for being the Grand Marshal also your brother & nephew for being in the parade as well 🥃 Sláinte 🇮🇪
Looks like you and your dad had an amazing day! All the best Clare! ☘
that is cool to see your dad and his group get a nod from the town for the job they've done over the years. small towns, or village as you call it, are amazing. when my grandparents passed away in their small village of 100 people, everything shut down for the service of each of them, and it shows the community spirit that larger places often lack. i hope everything is going well for you and Alex, take care.
My small podunk town/village in deepest darkest south Alabama just north of the Florida/Alabama border only has 7500ish residents these days... Many of which are of Irish, Scottish,German descent ... Yahhh,we know how to drank and party 😉
Aww Congratulations to your dad that was so cool! Hope you're keeping well 😘
I loved it. He was having the time of his life.
Aww, that's so great.
How awesome for your family! Your dad looked to be having the time of his life! Thanks for sharing!
Oh my god, that last fire limbo was unbelievable 😮!! Enjoyed this vlog so much 💚
Your Dad is the cutest man ever. Show us your bump soon. God bless.
My grandmother used to make those potato cakes! I haven't had one of those in 40 years!! Clare, I so envy you getting one! lol! I loved them as a child! No one that I know now makes them. :(
What a great honor for your Dad to be grand marshal tis year at te parade. And what a smaching parade tat was. Looked lime loads of crack.
Your father is so class.
Everyone thinks it's hilarious that I have a ziploc bag with salt, vinegar, ketchup (heinz), tissues and another ziploc with some baby wipes but omg they are delighted when they're looking for them. 😄 Adding that potato scallop onto the list of things to try, it looks fab 🙂
They never put enough vinegar on the chips.
Next time you're down the takeaway chippy, snag a handful of vinegar sachets for the car. Some people carry tiny bottles of Tabasco, so why not have a ready supply of vinegar when you're out and about?
@LindaC616

But do they have sachets or do they just have a bottle and you put it on yourself or they put it on for you?
You look AMAZING!! Glad you had a great (& sober) Patty’s Day!!! ❤❤❤
That was so neat. I see why your proud of him.
That looks like so much fun! Your dad looks so proud! What an awesome video! ❤😊
Your dad is adorable.
Loved it, and your Dad is so sweet, are you sure hes your Dad? just kiddin ya. thanks for the smiles. donna from North Carolina
How great ❤❤❤❤❤
That is very cool, your Pops got to be a Grand Marshal. Good times!
Thanks for sharing this moment in time, my favorite part was when your Dad was making a B-line straight for you once the parade was over. :) Priceless moment. Best wishes as always to you, yours and of course scritches for Miss MIllie.
Over here in the States, we call them Hash Rounds, which are deep-fried minced up potatoes,usually served at breakfast time,but never with vinegar... If at a restaurant they can be served up with diced onions,chopped ham,grated cheese,and even jalapenos if one likes... Which I do. 😁..Congrats pops on being the GM,and soon to be grandpa !! Love ya Clare ya bonny Irish lass you 😉

We have Hash Browns, which are what I think you’re describing (breakfast item etc) and they are completely different. Not the same thing! You’ll have to try it to understand it 😄
The core strength of the limbo guy...jaysus. Also, comhghairdeas to your da.
Loved all of it and your father looked great
I hope you're doing well, Clare! Much love!
Our little town here in NY has a very similar parade.🎉🎉🎉
Your father is adorable ❤
not sure how often you're in the city centre but Enzo's Take Away on Parnell street does potato scallops, but fair warning they can be hit or miss.
I loved watching this. Thanks Clare. ♥

@@Clisare you can see him leaning forward, watching intently. That works! 👍
Would absolutely love to sit with your dad and his friends in a pub to talk history. It is so great that the town honored your him and the other gentlemen. That potato scallop looks like what we call potato hash browns but would definitely like try it with the vinegar. Hope you and the baby are doing great.

We have hash browns here so if your hash browns are a breakfast food, then that’s not that same as scallops!

Hello Clisare! 🤗 Love your videos. I always giggle at your parts on the Try channel and was delighted to see you do your own videos. Subscribed of course. Hey have you tried balsamic vinegar on your chippies? We have many different flavours here in Canada. Blackberry balsamic is my fav. Looks a bit like a large hash brown, your potato cake dealie-boo. Never thought of vinegar with a hash brown. Hmmm. Must try it one of these days. All the best to you, Alex and Millie!
@Bowkind
Ай бұрын
Similar but there is some key differences, hash brown is usual grated potato mixed with onions, moulded into triangular shape and pan fried. a potato scallop is a slice of potato coated in a batter (sample batter used for battered sausages) and deep fried.
@terenzo50
Ай бұрын
@@Bowkind Never had onion in my 60+ years of hash browns. Anyway, I said it "looked" like hash browns, not that it was.
@Clisare
Ай бұрын
I don’t think so as we have hash browns here and they’re very different. It’s a battered deep fried potato
That potato scallop would be the equivalent of a McDonald's hash brown here in the US - shredded potatoes cooked in oil until golden brown and crisp. ETA: After further review (thanks, Clisare!) they are definitely NOT the same. If I ever come to Ireland, I need to try one myself (or find the recipe to make them).
@Clisare

I’ve commented this a few times already - no, it’s not the same thing. It’s battered and deep fried. It’s not a lightly fried breakfast food. We also have hash browns here, they’re not the same

No.
If you start carrying around a bottle of vinegar, would that make you a vinegar hipster? Like all those pretentious people packing portions of Sriracha salsa? Actually, now I think on it, if you wash out a tabasco salsa bottle (with the removable plastic bit) and remove the label, then you could refill it with vinegar, so you have your own small vinegar bottle. (Heck, if you have a printer, and if you're a label nerd like me, you can get avery compatible labels and print your own label for your personal vinegar bottle.) From what little I can see of it, I think I LOVE your father's little village there. If you visit the U.S. again, check out Shakey's Pizza and order some Mojo Potatoes. They don't have vinegar, as it's not really an American tradition, so you'll have to bring your own. But, they're much the same, except for portion-size. Bon apetit.
