Similar issue with my last build. The mobo was a h510 board so only two slots. Installed two DIMMS. No post. Installed only one dimm, It would post with only one particular slot. Thought the mobo had a faulty slot or something was faulty with my CPU memory channel as i bought it used and untested at a steal price. Removed the cpu to for a quick inspection and to check for bent pins in socket. Everything seemed fine so i reinstalled the cpu and reseated the cooler and VOILA! Problem solved. System posted with 2 DIMMS. Did an online reseach. Turned out reseating the cooler solved the issue. Uneven pressure when tightening the cooler can cause the cpu not to be seated properly and thus not making proper contact with socket pins and as a result simulate symptoms of a dead cpu memory channel. Always ensure to not overtighten the cpu cooler. Proceed in an X pattern and equal tightening torque on all screws. Give it a try if u facing similar problem.

Never understood why bloggers think it’s good to add background music to these videos, especially on troubleshooting or how-to. Everyone that is watching these videos most likely have an issue and adding distracting unnecessary background music makes it very difficult to follow along. Aside from the music, you have an otherwise good video.

Good troubleshooting. Probably would have run a memtest to verify no errors too, but probably overkill.

Glad to see I'm not just stupid for thinking that. I don't know much about fixing PC's, just swapping some parts now and then, but stress testing things that get flaky helps find intermittent problems.

Just built a brand new PC and I ran into the same issue which led me here. It doesn't post at all. I have an MSI X670 board and I get the post code 00, a red light for the CPU, and a yellow light for the DRAM. There's also a burning smell that I cannot pinpoint the origin of, but the AIO pump does make a very faint clicking sound like it's not getting enough power so maybe its burning itself out.
@PCTechHustle
Жыл бұрын
Even if an AIO is burning out it shouldn’t prevent a bootup. There should be some native heat transfer that in theory should allow it to run. If it’s shutting off quickly after bootup then I would say it indeed is the cooling solution but seems like something else is going on here. Feel free to join my discord and me and others can help work you through this!

When installing memory I think you're supposed to clear the cmos after the new DIMMS are in place. Am I right? Im learning as I go.
@PCTechHustle

No you shouldn’t have to do that. Maybe if there is some kind of issue like this possibly. RAM honestly for the most part should just work if it’s nothing extreme on the clocks, etc.

Depends on the situation. Clearing cmos generally helpful when troubleshooting to reset motherboard to default values.
There was a know BIOS issue w/ AMD boards when upgrading from 3K to 5K CPU's. Happened to me, had to flash the new BIOS, fixed it, easy peasy

Yep that was early on when the 5000 series Ryzen chips were getting released. The issue with the PC was not that though. Seemed like some fault / dirt with RAM interfacing with the motherboard.
Had this same issue with my Asus Z790-E turned out the motherboard didn't like the corsair 6200 memory Modules , yes the strange things magic things with the Bios or could be dirty contact pins who knows the land of computers for you

I had the same issue before and I've seen this issue a lot from other people too. I tried swapping the slots and it would work. But then it failed so I had to use 1 RAM, then won't post again till I couldn't use my PC at all/ I bought a new motherboard thinking that would fix it because I thought I had bad dimm slots but it turned out that cleaning the RAM with an eraser would fix the thing.

@@PCTechHustle Yeah, it's a great rig, and the 12400 is a beast. My now secondary rig that it replaces has a Haswell-E Xeon 12C/24T, and the 6C/12T 12400 has 27% better multicore performasnce and a whopping 228% better single core performance. And the thing I love about the 12400 most is that if you keep it well cooled it will literally never go below 4.0GHz even though the base is 2.5GHz. The 12th gen is amazing.

I used to have to completely remove my RAM and reseat the sticks every three months or so with my old AMD FX board because it would just quit working. I had to do that for about three years that I had it. Was I possibly cleaning the slots inadvertently when I did this? Who knows? I have not had that problem with my Ryzen 5 setup in the two years I've had this one, knock on wood.
