Somewhat true but with a sharp ear and sharp eyes honest people can still be spotted. I live alone and needed a handyman. I interviewed him in a parking lot, zero credentials. I asked him my questions like "can you help me." He had instant no-flinch answers to my questions. Fast, easy answers that exactly answer your question are a good sign you are dealing with an honest person. The answers need to be an instant and exact answer to the exact question. No handyman on earth can beat him. He takes down trees, washes windows, puts in new lights, puts in new faucets, and on and on. I'll tell you also that he cannot find an apprentice. One apprentice couldn't read a ruler. He knows his handyman skills will not help the next generation... so he is teaching reading to kids!!! Anyway, I thought you'd like the story. 🍁

Matter of "timing" as Carfax is dependent on proper reporting or in old school terms - "garbage in - garbage out". I traded a car off 4 years ago that was in an accident and repaired in the body shop @ the dealership I traded it in @. Came on line a week later and according to Carfax - no accidents. Long story short - Carfax is only as accurate entered into it's database.

Probably a forged Carfax. Should have bought your own Carfax report. Or, could have been the timing as well. I bought a Certified Pre-owned 2006 Toyota Sienna years ago and one day I go underneath the back to see if I could install a hitch and I see repaint overspray all over behind the bumper LOL. CPO means nothing aside from the fact they're selling you an extended warranty backed by the manufacturer and it's baked into the price anyway.

I had kinda the opposite happen. Bought a used Corolla a few years back from my credit union. Put new brakes in it, but other than that, totally reliable. Went to trade it in a few years later and Carfax said it had been stolen in New York...weeks after I bought it. No, I never reported it stolen, much less in New York. I live in Wisconsin and had never driven the car more than one state away. Try to correct an error on a Carfax report? Fuhgettaboutit. Like the credit bureaus. Holier than thou. They're right because they say they are.

Totaled my lovely Honda Accord Hybrid in September during a rainstorm. 2015 model, thought I bought it on 9/14. 166k miles. I was rear ended 5 times, got ran into my fenders at least 3 times, in addition to fixing hail damage and repainting the bumpers a handful of times. My friend works at the body shop so I always got ridiculous deals. Always paid cash, he never reports it to car fax or anyone else for that matter. When the insurance paid it off, I checked the car fax one last time, no accidents ever reports lmao. It's all a scam, always. Trust Scotty and find someone else to check it out.

Its very bad rep for Toyota or any dealership when customers start dishing the brand name, because the car has 100 different problems. I wish all of them would come down and start checking theses crooked dealerships and start suspending their licenses. They need to learn a lesson and if they don't, things just get a lot worse. I guarantee, that half the cars people buy used and end up either falling apart or not working as they should have something to do with dealers selling cars that belong on junkyards or parts on ebay and not sold in one piece ever again.

Watch out for new cars too! I went to a dealer in NJ to buy a brand new Maxima and I saw that it had condensation inside the passenger side headlight. Upon further inspection, the passenger side fender and front door didn't align correctly with the grooves of the design language. The salesman was surprised and told me they'll call me back the next day to see what happen, and guess what, they never called back 🤣 I still have the pictures to prove this and during the entire time, they never mentioned that the car was in any accident or anything. On a side note, no matter where you get your car from, always get it inspected by a third party mechanic. Doesn't matter if it's certified or even new. Try to buy a car from a dealer near you (if buying used) so that when and if something does go wrong, you won't have to go thru the hassle of getting to the original dealership. Most dealerships tend to deny any work if the car wasn't bought originally from them. Plus any free services promised will be useless if you can't get to the original dealer.

Ironic story. I purchased a used 2016 Toyota Corolla back in 2018 at a Toyota dealership (SAME color and same wheels as the one in the video) and it came with a clean Carfax. About a year later, I took it to have it appraised for curiosity purposes and that's when I found out all the panels on the passenger side of the car were not original. The hood was not original and neither was the rear bumper. And then just a couple of months ago, the two passenger doors started rusting at the bottom (of the doors). I had purchased an extended warranty through Toyota on the car, and they refused to honor anything that broke on it. I took it to a third party dealership to have them check out a motor mount, and they told me it was bad, so I took it to 3 different Toyota dealers and they all said the mount was fine. No need to make a warranty claim on it. Long story short(ish), as of a month ago, I no longer have the Corolla, that car was becoming a money pit and it had to go. I now have a Kia Forte5 (and this time, I took it to a trusted mechanic and had them look it over) and I love it! I couldn't find a Corolla as new as mine or newer in my price range.
