    Journaling....... what a fantastic tool to have! I've been journaling since the 1970s, I write everything, everything down. The good, the bad, the negative. It's a great tool to teach you who you are and how to solve your problems by going back and researching your daily daily habits.

    Loved your video😊 I have been enjoying journaling for years- I find that I can even journal in an app on my phone (no clutter, easy if stuck somewhere with nothing to do) but I also have a paper journal for curling up and downloading peacefully. I think this activity is crucial for keeping me grounded and it actually helps me make decisions as I work through issues or complications. Our minds are so incredible and allowing them the space to float free flowing thoughts is very beneficial to our mental health. Thanks so much for highlighting how easy and minimal this is! ❤

    I decided to live a minimalist lifestyle when I turned 30 years old. Quit drinking, smoking, and quit any negative and unproductive habits in my daily life. It’s been a “journey” let’s just say and I love every single day of it ! I don’t care if people don’t understand my mindset or if they say I’m just being “cheap” by not splurging on material possessions or indulging in consumerism. I needed the lifestyle change for my mental and emotional health 💙 I’m still human though and no better or worse than the next person. I just choose to live a little more consciously from now on ! 🙏 to each his own ! ✌️

    At 63 I too wanted to get rid of the negative things in my life, such as gripping, arguing and always having something negative to say. It seems that as I got older that I became more argumentative, which is a choice, I get it, but like you I’m making that concerted effort to think before I blurt a negative thought out or judging someone. Thank you for posting that comment.

    Good overall approach -- even though I don't (can't?) skateboard, the concept is spot on. Hoodies aren't my thing, never have been, doubt they ever will be so I'd substitute a sweater or fleece but again, can't argue the concept. Now that you have a paper journal (and thrilled to see an analog watch), you'll have to add a pen...

    Every man should have a watch he wears everyday. I think wearing a watch just keeps a man more responsible with their time and appointments since there's something on your arm that occasionally reminds you that time is always moving foward whether you are or not. And I don't mean a smart watch either. In my opinion, and it's just my opinion, I'll never understand how smart watches ever became a thing. The companies that sell smart watches had to create a problem in order to validate their product which is ultimately just another distraction from the real world. I struggled with journaling when I first started for exactly the same reason mentioned in the video. What do people write about all the time in these journals? I tried a lot of different methods until I discovered what's called "bullet journaling". I originally started with the cookie cutter shell that can be learned from a variety of channels on KZread. Over time, I was able to tailor the bullet journal to fit my needs. When I say, over time, I mean it took about 2 years of tailoring the system until I found a format that suited my idea of what I wanted to get out of journaling. I'm fairly new to your content Nicholas but of all the channels I've seen talking about minimalism this is the most straightfoward approach that isn't, ironically, so commercialized like other creators with their completely white asthetic that just makes the concept of minimalism look like nothing more than another take on contempary interior design that was so popluar in the late 80's early 90's. Your content actually expresses a workable example of the principles of minimalism and I think that's what people are really looking for when considering this kind of lifestyle.

    Awesome comment thanks so much. Never tried bullet journaling myself but I may give it a try. So far my writing is messy and all over the place but that’s because I’ve allowed to be the one place that I can have fully unorganized…. Again thanks for the kind words 🙌🏻

    I agree with almost everything except the bellroy sling bag: too expensive not that confortable, it actually gets dirty easier than I thought. Space and compartment wise I don't feel it is that practical. I have a tom toc sling which even when smaller feels more spacious than the bellroy. I ONLY wish my tom toc had the bellroy strap clip.

  • @manashdb
    @manashdb7 ай бұрын

    Maybe this is ironic but I think your watch needs to go. You need the Zeppelin 76685 (It's neither cheap nor expensive to the point that you'd call it premium) watch. It has an old time charm to it and will last you your whole life. For 450 bucks, I say that's a deal because you can pass it to your children or grandchildren. I doubt the Timex will be something they will look forward to even if you manage to hold on to it till then. With the world being so religiously into consumerism, being cheap and being minimalistic can't go hand in hand because the items we buy will deteriorate faster. At the same time we can't buy everything at a premium just because we want things to be simple and last long. This is a good balance in between.

    nice list but that watch definitely shouldn't be worn with anything more than a casual button up. Anything smart casual or above should have a more classy dress piece in my opinion. If you don't care, I'm not going to change your mind. But if you are interested, a good budget option is the "seiko tank" or an orient bambino.
