So much of the comedy in this movie revolves around the culture clash between northern big city and southern small town in the US. Didn’t know if you guys would get all of that but glad you loved the movie. One of my favorite comedies.

One of the crew had gone to law school and so this film has some very accurate scenes in the courtroom.

The actor who plays Judge Haller is Fred Gwyne. One of his most memorable roles was that of Fred Munster from the show "The Munsters". Also, in the judge's chambers shows a law degree from Harvard. While it wasn't a law degree, Gwyne IRL did graduate from Harvard.

they literally have classes in some law schools with sections that cover the accuracy of the movie's court scenes

@@mikeymike1981 I don't know about classes, but I worked in a law school library and during my job interview tour, I saw it in their small DVD collection. I asked if the court scenes were "textbook accurate", as I heard. The librarian showing me around, who was also an adjunct law professor, said yes.

There is a channel on KZread where a lawyer watches movies with court scenes. The lawyer said this was one of the most accurate court movies out there. And Marissa Tomeii??? 🥰😍😍🥰

The death penalty is dependent upon the state. Some states have it and some don't

People who watched this movie don't realize that when Miss Vito gave her testimony it was from the questiosns that Vinnie asked... to be straight forward.. Vinnie being around autos himself rcognized from the photo the posi-traction tiremarks... and that they were even (independent suspension) . since he is the lawyer and can't testify...... Miss Vito had to do the answers from her auto knowledge... but Vinnie knew...

The owl that woke up Vinny is a Screech Owl. Despite its name, it's actually a quiet owl and gives a very relaxing sound.

The premise of the movie is the clash of New Yorkers in deep south Alabama. They have completely different accents, which you might not have detected.

This video is too short. Too much of the movie is edited out. Other than that, it is a good reaction video. As an American, I find it interesting to see how people from other countries see our movies.

"The two yutes" This is an example of a dramatic difference of dialects in America. New Jersey, where Vinny is from, has a sharper form of dialect but in Alabama the dialect is more drawn out. It's the exact same word, just pronounced differently.

The concept of "Discovery" in the legal system dates back to English Common Law, but for centuries, it was more a nominal concept, not one that was rigorously upheld. (In the old Perry Mason novels, written between 1933 and the early '70's by an actual lawyer, Erle Stanley Gardner, most of the courtroom drama centered around the tricks the prosecutor or Mason played to be able spring surprises on the witnesses - getting them to suddenly spring up out of their chair to declare "yes, I did it. I killed so-and-so" which became known as a Perry Mason moment.) It was Brady v. Maryland of 1963 which forced the adherence rigidly to Discovery (still called a "Brady motion" filed to compel the other side to produce the needed info). At the time of this movie, however, its impact had not really spread to the general public. I remember watching this movie when it came, and being taken completely by surprise of this concept. And immediately, I thought to myself "well, of course. That's only fair.!"

I love the "Italian-style shirt" prison umifirms are never noticed by most viewers.

She's allowed to be there because in most cases the public is allowed to view the proceeding. 👍

This movie be a great case study point as to the cultural differences within the States. At least y'all Europeans got a few thousand years to unravel a couple of knots at least. The U.S....well still trying to be a teen while most other cultures can be an adult. Some dumb adults around but at least an adult culturally speaking.

I've never seen this movie and yet I can quote so much of it.

For many years there would be what i later found out was an Eastern Screech Owl 🦉 like the one in My Cousin Vinny and it doesn't sound that way. I'm Mexican American and well this will tell a bit of what we believe when it comes to owls. In Mexican and Mexican-American folklore, owls were called lechuza, which were shape-shifting witches who prayed on the weak. Even though white owls are featured in some scary stories, overall they don't convey a bad spiritual meaning of death but rather represent the spiritual significance of what death represents. I remember it would mostly arrive at sundown at a large old mesquite tree at the corner of my yard. It would start "screeching" and i asked my great-grandmother do you hear that what is it. She'd yell at me angrily to get inside. She never answered my question but knowing what she had told me in the past about lechuzas I understood. To me there was nothing soothing about the sound the screech owl made. It creeped me out. I remember it was late at night and i was awakened by the screech owl with a full moon also by the way. I actually yelled out shut up! And it got even louder. I was so spooked. Granted i felt silly after so many years and finally seeing the little owl arriving at the tree.

The way you cut this movie... nobody understands anything.

Ladies, you seem like really sweet people, and i like you. I don't say this to be mean or hurtful, but this is absolutely the worst, most uncomprehensive reaction i have ever seen. I'm 10 minutes in, and i have to stop. This movie, and it is a great comedy, has sailed so far above your heads that i have difficulty believing you watched it at all. Please, anyone who has not seen this film, go find a different reaction to base your understanding of MY COUSIN VINNY on. Don't judge it by this. Better yet, rent it and have your own reaction. Then watch this, and you'll see that this reaction is a mile and a half wide of being cogent. Really, you guys could have done a thousand times better.
