That was a close call! I'm glad that you survived. To others, take the advice, call the ambulance. Palytoxin is no joke. It will kill you, people in your home, and if there's enough of it in the air, it will go through the vents and take on your neighbours as well, if you live in an apartment.

Glad you are ok. I had Formalin poisoning last Friday and I was how you were at the beginning of this video. I could not breathe and every time I almost fell asleep, it really felt like I was blacking out/dying/getting no oxygen so I'd wake back up gasping for air until I caught my breathe and my face and fingers tingled with oxygen. I would try again to fall asleep, only to be low on oxygen again. Waking up gasping and shaking. Oh, and it felt my brain and ear canals were on fire. This went on for 3 days. Ultimately, as advised in the video, wear protective goggles, mask, and gloves. My body's reaction was from 1 small sniff of formaldehyde(trying to treat brooklynella) and I am not allergic to anything. Stay safe out there reefers!

A family of 5 from Adelaide, Australia were sent to hospital due to paly toxin poisoning. The reef tank owner was cleaning the rocks outside of the tank and they had zoanthids on them, which in-turn released airborne ‘spores’. I’m guessing it’s the same case here

I think using the saw most likely created aerosol droplets of water that contained palytoxin and you most likely inhaled them. Thanks for sharing this though as I was due to frag a colony of this species at some point this year and didn't realise. In fact the person that sold me them probably hasn't got a clue either so I'll let him know too. It does raise the question of responsibility though as currently the seller has no responsibility to provide information about toxicity when selling a paly or zoa. The responsibility sits with the buyer. Maybe that needs to be changed....

a 110 heart rate isn't the biggest thing to worry about. It's no different from taking in too much caffeine or nicotine. Yeah it'll make you feel uncomfortable, and worried that it might cause issues but it's not something to worry about. Yeah, pay attention to it, make a note of it. But that's still in the "healthy" range of 60-120 that most doctors say.
