I'm European living in the US for over 2 decades. Sadly, I noticed Americans find everything offensive. If you have a differing opinion, you are racist, inti-semite, or fat-shaming. My parents used to invite guests to dinner from all walks of life to invite titillating convos. Today, the dinners would turn into a blood bath. The lunacy is from the shity education system and tv. Good work! Thank you for a voice of reason.

They are pathologically judgmental and bigotted. As for myself, I categorically reject all forms of progressive liberalism and wokeness. The only person I will stand before in judgment is God, for the life I have lived as an INDIVIDUAL. God does not judge us according to our latest fad group identity. They refused to hear the case. On the merits of the case Ventura would have won. Another example. The banking know your customer act. Banks give the government your information without a warrant nor without probable cause. Civil Asset forfeiture laws. Assets are seized by government with no conviction of any crime. Now you know why my friends and I, who are all immigrants to Canada, who came from former dictatorships and Communist countries are leaving this legacy brand country. By many metrics, Canada is not only trying out, but is in fact, hurtling toward totalitarianism. We're further down the road than most realize. All levels of government and the courts are acting against the Constitution and constituents. The law is not upheld, the Constitution is merely a suggestion, violation of civil rights is increasingly common. Protests are now illegal, personal property has been seized by government decree, certain religious worship is under attack, The Church has now gone underground, there are internal closed borders, the military is now available to any province for any need they have, the government overrides parental rights to thought and body, the Nuremburg Code is now actively violated, speaking out against the government has been outlawed. None of this is hyperbole, people have gone to jail over many of these points in every corner of the country. Our best and brightest constitutional lawyers have more cases of government violation of rights than they can keep up with. Those of us who recognize the hallmarks of actual totalitarianism are getting out.

"...taken America for granted" Why are the "wheels coming off the bus?" In my opinion, 99% of today's Americans have "taken for granted" a GREAT MANY THINGS. Public education, which was instituted in the late 19th century, has failed to educate citizens as to what makes the country unique...what caused America to be exceptional in the histories of nations. During the second half of the 20th-century, Americans enjoyed the benefits in much the same way we enjoy cut flowers from the florists. Within a period of time, the beauty wilts and the flower turns brown and then black (no racial reference suggested). Historic America is gone. The Nation's second President John Adams explained: "...we have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge... would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." Here's the formula that's been ignored: Religion > Culture > Social Values/Politics/Economics. It was the Nation's founding Protestant Christian values of the 1) necessity of productive labor for survival (Genesis 3:17), the individual right to private property (Exodus 20:15; "You should not steal"), etc, and many more fundamental structures that work in harmony (rather than dysfunction) with Reality. America's contemporary society continues to engage in what began as a '60s drug-fueled rebellion against Reality. Understandably, the result is social, political, and economic Chaos. Enjoy!

John Burris why do you need school teach you to cook if you're not planning to be professional cook? Why parents can't do that? They don't cook ? Same with budgeting and money handling. What parents are for? School is for more specialized subjects, something like math, chemistry, physics, literature or even art.

@@vg7985 uh, most American parents don't really know how to cook either. That's why junk food and fast food are so widely consumed. Most parents don't have financial literacy either..........and I don't mean just basic personal finance like Dave Ramsey either. That stuff is far more useful than most of what I learned in high school. Some basic accounting would really help also.

Enjoyed your comment. Especially about The Fourth Turning. I have several copies of the book that I purchased back in 97. Taking the long view as described in that book, which is so prophetical is about the only thing that gives me hope. Here’s the problem with leaving. While there may be better places to live, there is no guaranty that they will not change. Your child from Russia knows Russia from several years ago. Today Russia is ranked in the top 10 economically and are in the top three militarily. They have accomplished great things over the last two thousand years - which are overshadowed by the events in the last century. They have a leader that is tough and stands up for their country and it’s people. While Russia may have problems they are not a torn apart country like we are at the moment. Your daughter might think about a visit.

Mr. Henderson, I based on your "50-year" comment we're the same age, and I think from the same area of the US. Well, you nailed it. I could go on and on about the name-calling (I was called a racist and misogynist by my own mother when I voted for Trump) and overall lunacy that prevails but what stood out for me was your remarks about Americans' complete ignorance of their own history and good fortune. It's said that people have short memories but in the West they seem intent on having NO memory. I blame the universities and corporate media, among others, but the fact is we're witnessing, to paraphrase Douglas Murray, the strange death of America.

Thank you Mr. Henderson for this very engaging commentary. I agree with you one-hundred percent. We live in a time that most of us could never have anticipated and keeping on pleasant terms with one's friends and family has never been so potentially treacherous. Mutual respect is indeed the way to go. I visited Russia many years ago and met some of the most wonderful people. At that time there rampant shortages. To save power, it was even partially dark in the airport. Returning to the US was staggering in contrast. People from wealthy nations truly don't appreciate the freedoms and abundance they're born into because most of them haven't experienced anything else. I've lived here for decades although I'm from the UK (which is just as bad if not worse these days). There is a huge sentiment in the older generation over there that the war years brought out the best in people because everyone pulled together for the good of the nation. I was also raised to have massive appreciation towards the US because without it, Europe would've been lost and we might have starved during the post-year wars. These days; I am preparing the leave this nation in the not-too-distant future. All the best to us all on this Memorial Day.
