@@shakotan4703 We're blaming the parents because gender dysphoria is a VERY REAL issue that me and others deal with, and being told that you're never going to be a real boy or that you're just going through a phase when you've been like this for YEARS is HEART SHATTERING. It's not edgy to want to be accepted. I'm not asking for T or for surgeries, I'm not even asking for a fucking name change or pronouns change. Hell, I'm not asking for a binder! All I'm asking for is love and support. That's it. It's not selfish or edgy to want acceptance and love from the people who are supposed to love you unconditionally and support your decisions in life.

I always say that the best place or time is when you're ready. For me, it wasn't planned AT ALL. I just felt it was the right time to tell them, then I did. But with everyone is different. So my advice is to only come out when you're ready and when you feel safe to do it! That's it, I hope I helped in some way :)

They were mostly supportive except for the few homophobes. At this school, there are little to no lgbt community. It is me and one other person. We both support each other and no, we arent dating. They are lesbian and I’m gay. But it works out at the end of the day. I’m ok now.🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

Came out to my parents and sister 2 months ago. It went awful. I was asked to move out and and it's been a mess ever since that day. My advice: please do not share your identity if it isn't safe. Choose your people wisely and test the waters.

I go home every once in a while, but working hard on my relationship with my parents as they are still at odds. Thanks for your reply xx

Alissa Williams if anything it’s the other way around but my mom did tell my dad my mom hated everything about me coming out as trans ftm it was bad and then she told my dad he said okay nothing else just okay and I didn’t transition now I just identify as non-binary they them pronouns even though only two people respect and if I came out and told them I liked girls my dad would be more for it than my mom

I wish this was an option for me. My parents are divorced and I’ve come out to both parents with little recognition. I went to my school’s gsa and my dad asked me if I thought I was gay in any way. I’d come out, like, three times already so I just said no.

I am really happy for you, it's great that you're able to explore yourself and figure yourself out. My journey to discovering myself as a nonbinary trans girl was pretty difficult, and the acceptance wasn't cleanly across the board, but, I am surviving well enough and I am thankful.

The only thing I can think of is for you to just come out when you're ready and when you feel safe to do it, otherwise it can be really difficult after. If you think your family will accept you, and you're ready to tell them, then tell them! But if you think they'll turn on you then my advice is to wait

Coming out to myself was the hardest, I was down a bad path and struggled with internalised homophobia, basically I was self hating. Once I realised I was bisexual I told a friend I knew I could trust and that made me feel so much better, I remember crying myself to sleep after that. The next group of people I told were some lads I was drinking, knew friends from uni, I outed myself while drunk, that wasn’t my proudest moment. The last people I told were my parents and I couldn’t say it face to face, I left a note on my drum stool before leaving for student accommodation for the week, mum phoned me about it, her telling me that she and dad supported me made me break down.

I really related to this video. I came out around a year ago, but not fully. You really inspired me to tell my parents and friends (maybe teachers) thank you.

I just wanted to let you know that I'm so happy I saw your video. I'm 16 and I know that I'm bi but I'm terrified to tell my parents. My brother and sister now and some of my friends as well. My parents are super Christian so to say that I'm scared to come out is an understatement 😅 I really appreciate your video (even thought I was very late). Thx this is helping me out this is MY first time watching a coming out video I relate to pretty much all of this well I mean I’m not experimenting bc I’m in year five and I know I’m young but I never felt anything with a boy but when I was near a girl my brain my FRICKEN HEART like- but beside that this video helped me a lot:)

I'm asexual, but I'm Biromantic. So I would date guys or girls. My family is really homophobic, it especially became obviously when the lgbtq rights movement really gained momentum. They would always say negative things about it. My brother and sister often complained about how everyone in their school seems not straight. My dad often makes rude jokes about it. My mom says that it's a sin and that it's bad. She found out recently that I would date girls because she looked through my messages talking about it. I felt so betrayed for a moment. Fortunately she reasoned that I probably mistook the feelings as romantic since she was my first real friend in a long time. She told me it was okay to find girls to be pretty. Just not dating and all that. It hurt that she brushed off my feelings like that, like they were nothing. However I'm glad she didn't totally find out. Maybe one day I'll come out to her and my family for real once I'm an independent adult and am in a relationship or something. They'll probably still not like it, and maybe even hate me(I hope not). However, I'll make myself a new family by adopting a kid or two(maybe marrying eventually) and making friends.

Even if i'm AMAB, I kinda relate to this video. Maybe I should make some research...

I relate to this video so much!! When I came out, it was just to friends at first because I found out about the LGBTQIA+ community in 7th grade from everyone talking about girls liking girls and some guys liking guys as if it was the end of the world or a big concert. I was like "This isn't normal?" And then I realized how bad some people would react and I got fricking terrified my family would be like that, so I decided, since I wasn't close to my mom and my dad is from the '70s, that I wouldn't tell them. My mom found out I have a girlfriend and asked me about it. I died, but told her the truth and all she did was nod, mouth "Okay" and leave. Then, she told me dad, so when I actually came out to him because I knew from my mom's reaction that he would be supportive, he said "Baby, I already know"... KILL ME NOW!!!!!!!!!!
