ZHC how long did each page take you from layout to final pencils?
Sadly, your work will likely be discarded and destroyed if you submit it to Marvel's office's, and unless you have been invited specifically for a job on an issue there's only a small chance of any work offered at a convention, as most of their publications are already staffed... Marvel is a corporate affiliate with Disney now and as such they very rarely work with artists or "talent" outside a foundation of well known professionals, acting through certain agencies. The best advice is to begin submitting samples to known writers within the independent comic community. Publishers like IMAGE, VALIANT, or even Self Publishing ventures are the best way to get some publishing experience under your belt. As your work there becomes known and your following increases, it will give you the leverage you need to move into the major titles. You are very talented, and Amazingly charismatic in your promotional skills. Such great work! Ever consider a KICKSTARTER? Looks like you'd get the support to self publish something if you wanted to... then you'd actually own it and not have to worry about page rates. :)

This is amazing! Can't wait for updates about future employment. NOTE TO ARTISTS: Listen to Zach about what it takes to get to a professional level of competency. He has said before that he drew for 5hrs on school days and 8-10 or more on non-school days. There's no shortcut. I wish I had been that dedicated when I was younger but I wasted a lot of time on video games and entertainment. As a result, I am now 47yo and still stuck in menial jobs like construction-related fields which are not really my thing. I am now taking the time to learn proper shading and cross-hatching. Next will be perspective. Please don't be undisciplined like I have been and live with deep regrets. Work hard and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Construction related fields are among the best jobs in any industry. They are a needed and necessary skill set for so many, perhaps consider your own strengths. Comic artists are a dime a dozen, and not an essential to society. The major companies rarely even employ staff artists anymore preferring to hire freelancers; and pay scale is based on notoriety, and past work experience. It really is thankless work, for menial pay, and constant struggles to meet deadlines. This is speaking from 20 years working as a comic artist. Perhaps consider following your opportunities? Good Contractors, and craftsmen are worth their weight in gold.

I hear you Lazarus but all I know is, I am happy when I am writing, drawing, painting, sculpting, etc. and every day I am forced to give my time and energy to construction stuff, I feel hollow inside. I come up with lots of ideas every day; songs, movie ideas (I've written one screenplay--took 30days off work to do it-- and want to write more), cartoons, children's books (I have one on Amazon but had to take 6wks off work to do it and got deeper into debt but it was a great experience) --I have 3 children's book ideas that I could do right now if only I could afford to stay home and work on them full time. I absolutely cannot do them in my spare time. I can write down ideas but when it comes to the real work of illustrating them, I need huge blocks of time. There is no end to all the ideas that flood my brain and I could do it all if I only I could get to a place where I can stay at home and sit on my rear end and do the work. I worked 80+hrs/wk, 7 days/wk after hurricane Irma and paid off all my credit cards but my van was breaking down, computer broke, etc. and I bought new stuff but now, wish I would've handled things a little differently; maybe could've fixed the old van and avoided the debt of this new one. Recently, I've been feeling so burned out from all the work that I started thinking I could practice real hard and maybe work for a comic book company as a way to force me to get better and faster--because of the demands of the job--and I do believe I have sufficient talent for this occupation but I just haven't worked hard enough at it. The main issue for me though is; What is God's will? As a supposed follower of Christ, it does seem that He wants to teach me some more lessons in my current circumstances but I'm always discontent and looking to wriggle out from under the burden. Disciples of Christ know this struggle well and I have had the joy and contentment in times past when I truly submitted myself to the Lordship of Christ in my life but then I start grumbling and complaining again.... I'm a terrible example of a Christian.... If you want, you can check out my Deviantart page; toshirohoshi.deviantart.com

@@CNSproductions14 Actually, Biblical Christianity is the only belief system on Earth that makes any sense and is the logical conclusion of critical thinking. I really believe that Jesus Christ is our Creator God, the 2nd person of the triune Godhead; one God in three persons. He really did come to Earth and die on the cross for all who believe and He really did rise from the dead. I've been having debates and discussions online with people around the world since I first got the internet in 1998 and have encountered every question imagineable. I have found the Bible to be the ONLY logically consistent belief system. All other beliefs fail the truth tests.

@@timob1681 It really is when you're close to being fifty years old and realize you never took the necessary action to develop your talents and when you're working construction, you realize you're not really gifted or interested in it and your mind is constantly flooded with creative ideas.... but at least I'm taking serious action now and am finishing this children's book that's been rattling around in my brain for a few years. I mostly stopped working to finish it. Things are tight but I have to do this.
That wolverine piece on the thumbnail looks sick....he's my favourite character and I really love it when someone draws it so coooool

Wow, amazing as usual. You’re going to be a legend in the field.
Your going to be a great addition to the industry, i love your work. good for you man.
Hey Zach, great artwork man. Very talented, love your technique. Keep it up, to me you're right up there with Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, David Finch, Bart Sears, J. Scott Cambell, Kenneth Rocafort and so on. Just keep improving and never skip out on the details. I thought that this Marvel submission was incredible! If you're this good now, I can only imagine how good you'll be later on. Great job and I enjoy your channel.
Congratulations! I'm happy for you! All your hard work is paying off. And I watch Jim Raiz's videos also. See I used to draw a lot as a kid and art was what I wanted as a career choice in life. Well things happened and I was knocked off course and wasn't able to do so. Last few years I've really started drawing again and I have been watching several comic book artists on KZread. I've been trying to learn from them. So you're an inspiration to me just like all the others. So I'm happy to see you getting closer to your goals and your hard work paying off.

Yar doin' amazing work man! Love it!
Absolutely amazing art!
Amazing works! Congrats!
This is amazing drawing 🔥
Congrats on what looks like a big head start! You put in the time and took no shortcuts. You deserve whatever success comes your way. All props to you! If I may presume to offer two tips: A) Your faces are a bit weak. There are some very good ones, others not so much. But you are already way ahead of what David Finch was doing in his early days. B) This is just a personal observation, but I think your art could benefit with some reflected light in the deep shadows, so things aren't too strongly lit, all the time. Look at guys like Rudy Nebres and the awesome Nestor Redondo. Just a bit of bounce light to lighten things up a bit, especially in daytime scenes. I know you used rim light in a couple places; this is similar. I look forward to seeing your name up in lights!
Huuu! That was amazing thank you men!
Wish you the best man honestly amazing work ,wish I could draw like that
Positive vibes!!!😍
Every inker and colorist will hate you. You add so much detail 😂😂
That's incredible work! Congrats on the success on your journey!

Woooowwwww.... it’s so cool, so much details
Dude if you dont get your pass into stardom with one of the repuatable comic publishers out there then I dont know what can be missing You already got everthing 🔥💯
That’s awesome my dude
amazing stuff man, hope i can get half as good as that one day.
That art is soooooo amazing😁😀
Those are sooo sick 😱😱
You're a detailed drawer and I can't imagine the amount of work required for just a couple pages of a comic. I love how you draw veins but my only question is, can you see veins bulge out through clothing? I see you put veins on top of clothing and sometimes I fathom if that is even possible (I guess it doesn't matter, it's fiction). Awesome job and keep it up. Would love to see you do some soft shading and not just the dark hard shading in your drawings.
Dope work bro! I really like it.
Wow your art is amazing I really enjoy this video
they're really cool!! I'd love to digitally colour some of your personal inked stuff if you're interested, couple of weeks before I can do much but it would be awesome to give it a go! Also congrats on everything, James is the person who both got me back into comic art and who introduced me to your channel!
Nice pages bro!! Good luck!
congrats your art is amazing
