I feel everything you are going through. For children to learn how to write proficiently they need to have good quality literature read to them daily! I know your hands are tied with what you can actually teach. But that is the way Writing Instruction Begins. Children hearing what good writing sounds like!!! Talking about good authors, their ideas for stories, their word choices, e.t.c. You are a Great Teacher. I hope you can get through this year. And remember, there are lesson to be learned from every bad situation.

Please please get through this year and then look for another district that aligns with YOUR values. I've been following you for awhile. You are a GREAT reading teacher, don't let them take that away from you

You are such an amazing teacher. You had a great set up! Don’t leave teaching, we need passionate teachers like you. Change districts!

You are right that would be a whole lesson separate from what you are doing. That’s what administrators don’t understand. I feel your pain all teachers go through this and it’s a battle. Curriculum is a guide and you are the teacher . You are the one who decides not the administration way.

Omg, our TX 2nd graders go from addition and subtraction within 20 to multi-step word problems w triple digit numbers... in the same unit! Absolutely crazy.

The U.S. is so different. I teach in Ontario, Canada. I can use any texts or resources I want. It's a lot of work, but I appreciate the autonomy.

Love your transparency! I just started a channel and find it incredibly difficult to find time to vlog but there is something liberating about talking to the camera where there is a community that understands!

Hi Ms. Blanco, I'm so happy to see you're still at it. I relate when you say you have to preteach before you can actually teach. I see it a lot with the Covid kids.

This district is not a good fit for you. Sadly, there are a lot of districts that are like yours where they are essentially taking the fun out of teaching and teachers are feeling like they are just a body in a classroom. Praying that you make it through this school year with your mental health intact.

I am glad you are doing better emotionally and adapting where needed. Like Cindy, I have been worried about your feeling so overwhelmed and having to change your teaching styles. I know you have had a lot to change in a short period of time but I am somewhat confused about the items still on your classroom list of whether they can still be used or not. Even though you may have to take some things home, they may still be put to use later or differently than your original plans for them. And nothing stays totally the same. By next year, they may change things up again! So if possible, don't get rid of organizers, supplies, or books for awhile. If decorations, lamps, or alternative seating would be of help to create a cozy room, add them to your list. I won't be able to send items until the new year, so you have plenty of time to change your wishlists as needed. It would also help to give priority tags where needed too. It doesn't matter which list I work from as long as I am sending the items that would help the most for now while adapting to curriculum and changes this school year. Hang in there! Next year should be much easier knowing what you are learning this year about teaching styles required, curriculum, etc. I am glad you now have some grouping levels so that you can make changes to help each group according to their needs. That's what is most creative about teaching regardless of what curriculum is used. So I hope that is helping you feel better about being in the classroom. Continue to keep us posted on how you are doing along the way amid the classroom details.

We got an Amazon wishlist order today so that helped a lot but those privacy boards helped 100% when they took their test.

What amazes me the most is that your admin saw you setting up your classroom. Like why wouldn’t they warn you or tell you about what you wouldn’t be allowed to use? 😒

I don't like teaching writing either. I teachb3rd/4th grade self-contained (special ed), and the expectations are ceazyvfor me too. I teach ELA, MATH, SOCIAL STUDIES, SCIENCE, AND WRITING. Good luck!!!

I only saw your very first video about failing student teaching, but I see now that you are a teacher anyway. So, how did you get your teaching license?

Not for nothing, but your school district sounds really strict and boring. I feel so badly for you. Don't thepuw anything away. You may go to another school district. This district is NOT fit for you.

72 kids is absurd. I probably missed the explanation but if I may, what happened? Did the other teacher leave?

She was put on administrative leave. Not sure if she will be back. But the admin decided to combine both bilingual and general Ed so now it's 72 kids

@@teacher_in_houston Damn, that sucks! Well I hope things will get better, I know the burnout is real. My sis works for NYC DoE, and the stories she tells are equally chaotic. Shit is rough; I commend educators, not easy.
