we already talked about this, Mercedes will cover SBC brakes under warranty for 25 years and unlimited miles! it goes for the W211 E class, Mercedes SLR, Maybach etc. i still have the Letter from Mercedes somewhere

Yup true. I used to have a 2003 W211 E320 and I had the SBC pump replaced by Mercedes for free back in 2018!! I sold the car a year later but it's great they extended the warranty that long.

@@elkillerx Well they kinda had their hand forced in the US. They either had to extend the warranty or recall the cars due to an ultimatum from the NTSB. The warranty exstention does not apply globally

I saw your car there yesterday, I thought it looked familiar but the TX reg sticker threw me for a loop, cool to have seen it in person, definitely the roughest Maybach at the event (in a good way)

True, but the wizard work is extremely well documented and Hoovie hardly ever cuts corners. It's a known entity plus it has youtube fame. On balance I think it's a positive vs an unknown car.

I love the fact that Tyler's walking down an isle with the Bentley azure SLS and SLR McLaren and a diablo all of which he also owns 😎💪🏾

It's usually reluctor rings if the message is a black and white message. A diagnostic machine will say replace the sensor's but it's more often than not the rings. It's a different story however, if it's the red message - (Seriously don't even move the car if it gets to that stage). The thing to remember with the SBC system is, it counts how many times you press the pedal, when it gets to the amount set by Bosch/mercedes it's considered life expired (if they last that long lol).

The Automatic Braking System (ABS) rings, also known as reluctor rings, are used to detect wheel lock. Each wheel has an ABS ring fitted behind it that rotates through a sensor. Thank you, I thought it was the Framas Modulator but this is the other piece.

That was awesome. From back there in that car it sounded like you were in a commercial jet with superchargers on it. Always did love the sound of a turbine, even if it's not a real turbine.

Putting the ECU in Dynamometer mode reduces the power.

What's the reason to reduce the power in dyno mode? Surely that's the single time when you want it to be accurate. Its also a one off event that could easily have a disclaimer on the screen. Where's the logic? Thanks

@@procatprocat9647 It depends on the model year and OBD suffix version but yes. The vehicle is run under partial load at different speeds while measuring tailpipe emissions.

@@procatprocat9647 Also that is how Volkswagen got into trouble. The vehicle was set to change emissions parameters and not just power output while being dyno’d for emissions testing.

I had a similar reaction. Right before it showed up and he explained it was for future classics, I joked to myself "I wonder if there's a Grand Prix there?" Was kidding, and then boom right after I thought it, there it was lol. I had a few Grand Prixs, but the later generation (both a 97 and a 2000). Used to be really big into the modding scene for them and was good friends with everyone at ZZP. My 2000 was making 335 to the wheels on its last dyno. Was setup essentially as far as you could go on a supercharger build, full suspension, carbon fiber sd hood and spoiler, fully custom interior (custom made gauge cluster, 3d printed stuff, etc). All tastefully done. I miss that car, but it was a constant project that I couldn't work on anymore so I sold it and bought a C7. Good times though. Though I was absolutely kidding to myself about there actually being a Grand Prix there. Technically even made the joke that it would be a Grand Am (aka the mistaken identity of both that series and the 97-03 series that GP owners hated). Anyway, they were good cars. The earlier gen that you have and which was pictured didn't have nearly the modding potential but they definitely had some interesting variants (like the McLaren one) and some crazy interior stylings. The bodies definitely weren't built to last though. Probably not many left in good shape at this point, especially in the rust belts. Even my 2000 had some rust when I sold it, and I garage kept the thing, and it never even went out in the winters.

You passed one of the nicest cars there: A real CLASSIC Chrysler 300! That shows that I am old! For me a "classic" car was build before 1972!

I was at BJAC on Sunday and saw the Maybach at FCCS! Very interesting car to say the least. Hooptie meets luxury with a long wheel base.

The counts customs Diablo has came along way I remember seeing it when it was in rough rough shape.

Hoovie, I have the same brake system in my 05 E class. There's an extended warranty in effect in North America, 25 years if I recall correct. That covers the unit itself, labor and other ancillary parts are not covered.

Don't know much about cars but enjoy watching.

When doing your dyno testing for comparisons, you should use the very same dyno. The exception to this is DynoJet. Due to the utter simplicity they are super consistent between all DynoJets. I dynoed one of my vehicles on CA on a DynoJet and drove it across country and dynoed it on another DynoJet in MD and it was within a couple of HP. Super consistent.

I went to the Barrett-Jackson auction in 2006. The Maybachs had a new car showcase at the show that year. As did the SLR.

Tyler, next time you bring a car out for Barrett months before hand, you’re welcome to store it at my 5000+ square-foot warehouse where I do car storage for others for nominal fee.

Everyone must have foreseen, this eventual Maybachalypse. Now, with three times the Van-Damage. Hoovie is going lightspeed this time.

There is also some strange estimation of life on the brake valves from Conti Teves - they underestimated the brake cycles the system can do and it will throw an error when reaching some arbitrary number. This can be programmed away by resetting the cycles.

I was at the auction on Saturday (peasant weekend) and it was no where near that easy to get around 😂

Watched your Maserati show, I think it is the ideal everyday sports car.

SBC on the Mercedes 2003-2012 is covered by the manufacture extended warranty (25 years )and its free to replace at the dealership So you should definitely check before you spend and money

You’ve come a long way for a top tier towing channel

If either of the 2 onboard batteries fail it could cause the gray Brake light visit workshop message. If the car batteries run low from sitting it can also turn on the Brake warning. The SBC system also has a brake pedal cycle count. Basically if the brake is pressed around 300,000 times it trips the light. Mercedes felt at this many cycles it will need to be replaced. There are OBD2 counter reset modules available online. They will shut off the warning light and reset the cycle counter. If the counter reset tool is used it will show up in the Mercedes X/entry SDS laptop service history. This warns the dealer that it has reached the cycle limit and needs to be replaced. You can reset it but you cant hide it.

Can’t blame the desert heat because it’s been freezing here in Scottsdale for months.

I'd love to be able to daily the Maybach like that.

The Chrysler 300 being Mercedes based worked to my advantage, I was able to get an upgraded differential for my ‘89 Mercedes Coupe from a 2008 Chrysler 300, also the stronger and cheaper Chrysler axles.👌

It is amazing how quiet it is on the dyno!

Ask Mercedes, they propably will warranty the SBC pumps! They just replaced the pump on my 2003 E320CDI a few months ago! Completely for free! And I didn't even have any service records on it and the car had almost 200.000miles on it!
