My Case Has Settled: Now How Do I Get Paid?

My Case Has Settled: Now How Do I Get Paid? Congratulations! Your case has been successfully settled, and it's time to receive the compensation you deserve. In this video, Joel and Chase explain the necessary steps involved before you received your settlement check.
1. Review Settlement Agreement:
Carefully review the settlement agreement, which outlines the terms and conditions of your settlement. Pay close attention to the payment details, including the amount, method, and timeline.
2. Verify Required Documentation:
In most cases, you will need to provide certain documents to initiate the payment process. These may include signed release forms, tax forms, identification documents, and any additional paperwork requested by the responsible party.
3. Confirm Payment Method:
Discuss the payment method with your attorney or legal representative. Common methods include a direct deposit to your bank account, a check, or a wire transfer. Confirm the preferred method and provide the relevant details, such as your bank account information, to facilitate the payment.
4. Follow Up Regularly:
Stay in touch with your attorney or legal representative throughout the payment process. They can help monitor the progress, address any concerns, and provide updates on the expected timeline for receiving your payment.
Remember, the payment process may vary depending on the specifics of your case and the responsible party. It's crucial to rely on the guidance of your attorney or legal representative, as they have the expertise to navigate through this phase effectively.
Getting paid after a successful settlement is undoubtedly an exciting moment. By following these steps and staying proactive, you can ensure a hassle-free process and finally enjoy the financial compensation you rightfully deserve.

Maybe show up at their office and sit there until your lawyer makes time for you. If that doesn't work, bar complaints are an option but we encourage you to exhaust all efforts to speak with your attorney before taking that route.

Great question. Each state has different laws concerning recoveries for minors. Your state's laws will determine who would qualify to act as a fiduciary for your child's recovery until the age of majority. In many states the settlement has to be approved by a Court.

It's a process I have been waiting for my case to settle. Going on 3 years..... I don't want to keep getting pre settlement funding. I don't know what to do. Hope things move soon since I have two lawsuits

We hear you. It can be frustrating for cases that take longer, especially when pre-settlement funding is involved. Best wishes that your cases get resolved soon!

If it is a civil case your law firm is handling and your client is say $2,000 behind on retainer fees. How do you handle that at your law firm?

We don't work off of retainers so we have never been in that situation.
