I’m always late to the party, but I finally got my D500 this past week and I’m loving it. Your video is one of several that I have watched in regards to setting up the camera. Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. I upgraded from the D5300. Subbed! P.S. I love the Blinkys, I did not know that it did that. Thank you

Thank you so much! It is always nice to hear if someone finds the video helpful. It is never too late to get a D500. :D It is a very good camera. I also upgraded from the D5300, and still use both.

Brilliant! I setup my camera with all of your settings! Thank you very much for the video and the selection of features. All makes sense to me. One problem: No more beep when focus is locked! The setting shows Beep is ON, but not beep can be heard after making your settings.

Thank you for your comment! Nice to hear that you find the video helpful. I think I missed the setting about the beep in the video, I set the beep setting to "off". I read in the manual that you don't get a beep for locked focus when using AF-C, so maybe this is the reason.

@@kidotatsuhiko5885 this is APSC vs. Fullframe. Depending what lenses you already have and what you want to photograph. The D500 has a very fast and acurate auto focus and fast frames per second which is good for sports and wildlife photography. For landscapes and portraits maybe a full frame body is better. Full frame lenses are much more expensive. Nobody can tell you what is better for you, you need to decide. Try both before you decide.

As a beginner photographer I would learn photography with a D5300, D5500 or D5600 or whatever camera you already own. Learn and practise will get you better results than new gear. If you don't have any camera yet, the D500 is definitely a very good camera for photography (but a bit pricey for beginners).

Try to use the virtual horizon (09:52) to ensure that you really hold the camera straight. There are also two ways of holding the camera vertical (CW and CCW), use the one that you are more comfortable with.

Hi! I was not able to reproduce that error you are describing, but I assume it has to do with the contacts between the lens and the camera. Try to dismount the lens and check if the contacts are clean, if not clean them and mount the lens again and see if the error is gone. Or try another lens, I guess the error is gone then. Hope that helps! Cheers!
