    First aid kit, of course. Inside some painmedicine, 2 rolls of bandage thats all. No plaster, i use duct tape for that. Its called Jesus tape here in Finland 😅 Can repair skin and/or clothes, tent and whatnot. I have duct tape around my walking stick so easy to transport too. Last weekend i was hiking and burned my down jacket a hole. Some duct tape and problem solved 👌

    When I'm out walking/hiking I just carry a knife, water, lighter, food, torch and booboo kit (and extra layers depending on the weather). Where I live there isn't a single bit of actual wilderness in the country, you're never more than 10km from a house or road. Maybe I'll carry a basic first-aid kit if going over some rough terrain, but that's about it. Of course if I'm camping that's a different matter, but I wouldn't carry all that stuff for just a day's hike.

    I live in SW Ohio. In my daily travels I am rarely more than 4 miles from my home and generally less then 50 yards from a home where I could knock on a door and ask for help. Is the UK so sparsely populated that you need a bug out bag? Are the people so standoffish that they would not offer assistance?

  • @RedBranchBushcraft

    @RedBranchBushcraft

    I very rarely meet people where I go, also anyone I could call wouldn't be much help so it's self rescue or wait for rescue if something goes wrong

  • @LaughingMan44

    @LaughingMan44

    2 жыл бұрын

    UK/Ireland is very densely populated for the most part, except for parts of Scotland and maybe Wales. In my parts it's like how you describe Ohio. IMO, such a pack is overkill. People here would offer assistance for sure. Weather is also very mild, it rarely gets below freezing, and when it does it'll be -1 to -3c usually. British isles just aren't really a survival situation sort of place, unless SHTF. Now there are parts of the mountains where there would be inconsistent phone signal, so if going over them it'd make some sense bringing first-aid, an emergency blanket of some kind, that sort of thing, but you're not going to be more than 12 hours away from rescue if you've been sensible and told someone where you're going.

  • @RedBranchBushcraft

    Any Ould Paracord will do, 550 or smaller , generally my tarp for sleeping out is up and down in one night so I don't feel the need for expensive Paracord. Even tarps I put up in red branch Bushcraft, which stay up for months I only use the cheap 1000 metres rolls
