To live in Seattle Washington where Bruce lee is buried , and visit his grave as often as you did. Was indeed cool and an honor. To do what you do now and have your own podcast only proves that anyone is capable of anything in life. Charles like you from collecting the Bruce lee collections as a teenager, to learning martial arts, body Building, developing your own fitness Training, to having your own Bruce lee Channel for all to enjoy. Back in the 70s , the western world was enveloped by the Bruce Lee tsunami!! A wave of Bruce Lee influence, martial arts schools, asian influence, movies, magazines, comics, asian garb and lots of Kung Fu fighting! This Bruce Lee craze impacted so many that still decades later, the Bruce Lee legacy is very much alive and well!! Thanks to you both for sharing the stories!! 🇵🇷

Excellent interview. My first time visiting Lakeview cemetery in 1975 is very similar to Alex's. I also got dragged along by my parents to live on the west coast during high school like Alex. I hated the rain and cloudy weather at first too, but eventually grew to like it. Can't wait for part 2.

It is amazing to hear your stories of how you got introduced to Bruce Lee, guys! I remember my introduction to him with the movie Fists Of Fury! I loved Kung-Fu and martial arts movies and watched all the ones I could find, twenty times each… 😅 However, once I saw Bruce Lee, I instantaneously knew he was the best thing I had ever seen! I think idolising a favourite person isn’t so bad. One needs to remember that, he ( Bruce lee) was a human being, who had tapped into his talent at a very early age. We all have it, but it’s all about being able to find, and take an advantage, rather than take advantage of each other through greed, deception, hate etc. As I’m getting into my early fifties, the world around me seems that, I have fulfilled everything, except for leaving a good legacy when I depart from this world. It’s not about leaving materialistic things or owning them through hard work, but through education and love one for each other. Bruce lee on the other hand knew this , so that’s how a person should motivate and achieve in life in every thing he does through honesty. Bruce read alot through science and technology and it’s attributes through self determination, and willing to adapt with change. Rip B.L

Hola desde España . It is clear what Bruce Lee wants to convey in his films and through them. His philosophy. By fighting and not looking at the opponents, demonstrate your concentration and flow by emptying your mind of any emotional charge that prevents you from flowing. That is very clear in that 4:00 minute shot in Operation Dragon. Empty your mind, be like water, it flows!

Great episode Charles!! Alex has some great stories!! I love his podcasts!! Can't wait for pt. 2!! It's amazing how one man's philosophy and teachings you can apply to so many different areas of life. When I go to staff meetings (break down the images), when I play basketball (it hits all by itself) as well as keeping healthy and fit and still practicing boxing techniques, punching, striking!! I believe that's why Bruce has endured for decades!!

Good Friday Charles! I have mixed feelings about this video and i tell you why. I love Charles and he's videos...but i dont like what that guy did who charles is interviewing . My opinion it was very disrespectul to Bruce an post a video containing drug related personal letters of Bruce. Then this sifu started to call me that i am a child etc because i say that i think its respecfull to Bruce..wow and he suppose to be Sifu of Wing Chun... Sorry Charkes but i just resoect Bruce way too much not say anything about it. Charles you are great btw!

Bruce spoke about being honest, and these letters revealed a lot about what was going on in the last years of his life. I have over 40 videos on my channel, did one about the Bob Baker letters, and the rest are not focused on that. I also wasn’t the one who exposed them - the auction house did that. I did an even handed take on it - and I’m not responsible for people being triggered by open source public information. But thank you for commenting, it helps the algorithm.

That it seems you don't on highest level. You should then think about choosing he's personal life respective not to post personal letters that might have consern abouth health etc and might reflect to he's relatives in the future. This has nothing do being honest so dont get behind of that. I hope you really understand what i mean..and learn it for the future.

Just watched interview again and missed this as I was typing a reply. Alex mentions about getting beaten up and taking up Karate as revenge. Then moving to Seattle and visiting Bruce's grave often, You said it sounds like a movie and bears an amazing similarity to No Retreat, No Surrender. All Alex has to do now is have Bruce's ghost come to him to teach him Jeet Kune Do, and then fight Jean-Claude Van Damme and you have the film.

Steve bye the way I loved the Robert Lee Documentary but not sure Robert was totally satisfied with the finding as to cause of death! Too many other variables involved: coke, cortisol, hash, acid, over worked, no rest, heat, first collapse which he did not address if there was a connection with the second when he passed! Thought they offered good closure on all the other boys death theories! Overall loved the documentary!

She said his name is "Bruce Lee." Aside from "Game of Death," my mother took my Brother and I to the theater to see his movies. This is early '70's. I'm from Jamaica, Queens, and, interestingly enough, my martial arts origin is VERY similar my Si-Gung's- specifically the bully and the age and the revenge. LOL. Ahhh, the Kung Fu Genius, always an entertaining storyteller. Too bad the Lee gravesite is sectioned off, but I guess it was needed for crowd control. Speaking of which, I was in Seattle in the late '80s for a cousin's wedding and had no idea where the grave was, so my mom suggested asking at the hotel desk, to which I went, “Okay, but I doubt they'll know,” and soon as I opened my mouth, "Oh, the Bruce Lee Memorial? It's at Lakeview Cemetery, pretty big place…here, I circled the location and wrote down the section it's in, good luck." Driving there, I was like, wow, that hotel was really on the ball-I mean, how many guests would be asking about Bruce Lee’s grave? When we got to the indicated section and realized we still had to find one out of a sea of headstones, my mom suggested asking what looked like college kids who just came from soccer, to which I went, “Okay, but they’re young guys; I doubt they’ll know. Excuse me, would you happen to know where the Bru-” “The Bruce Lee Memorial? Yeah, it's right over that way.” Walking over, I was like, wow, they just knew-I mean, how many visitors would be asking about Bruce Lee’s grave? Then we got there, saw the impressive piles of flowers and notes, and I was like, wow, guess a lot of people are into Bruce like I am. Nice to know I’m not alone, lol.

@@CharlesDamianoBLC Haven't seen part 2 yet, but I definitely will. You know, the visit was special, but because I had a lot of loved ones die when I was growing up, visiting cemeteries isn't necessarily an emotional experience for me per se; it's more of a ritual. That said, what moved me was how many things were left there paying respect to the man. Didn’t expect that. And in the 2000s when I went to a Lee exhibit in San Francisco Chinatown (did you loan anything to it?) and saw so many people of all colors, ages, and walks of life-there was even a group of school kids taking notes-and signed the guest book filled with signatures, addresses, and comments from all over the world, I was moved again. Why? Well, it was partly by what Bruce means to me, but mostly by what he means to others. A LOT of others. Never ceases to amaze me, and always makes me feel like I’m part of a global family. So keep up the good work, my brother!

Paul I asked Alex the same question during the podcast. He said he wrote to Sifu Taky Kimura but received no reply. I know the Jun Fan Gung Fu institute is still being run in Seattle by Sifu Andy Kimura, And the Jun Fan Academy by Sifu Abe Santos.

I'm glad you actually met him so there's zero % chance of that, it's true some one really got me to look into it and then when I seen all the comments of other people noticing a similarity I was like what if my hero since 4 years old is still possibly alive... but yeah as far as the letters after Hollywood tried to make Bruce like a fool in the Tarantino movie anything is possible as far a fabrication. He is by far the most famous legendary figure around the globe 🌎 and since we don't know a 100% the letters are real we shouldn't talk about them... Bruce was about optimal body conditioning and to all the new martial artists 🥋 inspired by Lee to get into Martial Arts that stuff shouldn't be talked about anymore please 🙏 🙄.

In 1972 Bruce Lee challenged 3 Thai boxers in Bangkok and they were impressed with his style of martial arts. If you get a chance sifu Charles San, check out some Thai boxing my friend.

Marvin I had a friend who was a Thai boxer and a very tough fighter. Use to spar with him around 20 years ago and was always a difficult challenge! His kicks were powerful! Lol glad you enjoyed the show and have a great weekend my friend!✌️👍

That's Tae Kwon Do... He was setting up a kick That's like telling the guy your plan 18 years in tang soo do.. My instructor did teach traditional tang soo do for beginners. But, after your first colored belt you started training in a realistic way We never set up anything From anyway you are standing we could with ease throw any kick. We never set up anything. Who goes Ready Set ( setup) Go On the streets.. Wow... I am now on my 9th martial art 41 years of training. 56 years old ... Though I look insane with very long blonde hair full head of hair no gray or white. I earned a nice name butcher because of how I would chop people down in tournaments... Full contact broke my jaw. Left but was destroyed all ribs broken fingers broken We didn't play games When I fought Tae Kwon Do people every time the set up something they dropped their hands to kick I'd kick their hands hoping to break the hand. Wasn't against the rules. They all made that mistake I lost to one Tae Kwon Do guy. My cousin and he had years on me and I only had 6 months training Btw why do Tae kawn do people all of them bounce what is the bounce.. That's never even taught I am 4 years into Wing Chun do.. Sijo was a awesome dude.. Know him well. Sigung Ambrose now has the system.. Still changing to be very efficient in dropping anyone in less than a few seconds Bruce Lee believed anything longer than a few seconds is a waste At 56 I still can walk into any Tae Kwon do place and destroy them. I did that in the 80s around the Detroit area.. Well me and a bad as gal named Kathey Harman... We scared those bouncing meat bags Hell one kicked me in my cup and they wanted us to knee. I was like umm.. If I get kicked my balls in the street I can't knee there.. I can take it... Hell. United Tae Kwon Do was the worst... The little grand master I challenged him to a fight at the 6 mile and middle belt in Livoniia Michigan in 85 or 86 and he wouldn't when I told him who I was trained under...all that rank and he had fear. Grand Master Jae Joon Kim turned out killers and I was trained under him his son Naam and grand Master William Thompson who I earned my Master 4th degree under. I will brag one of his best students and damn right I have prove... Even with a fucked up back I kept training.. Sijo matched Bruce Lee's speed and re redefined the 1 and 3 inch punch You know of people some of us trained with great martial. Artist. Bad attitude I do have.. There's so much garbage being taught. Muay Thai is my 9th .. Fucking hurts... My body is saying please stop.. One day maybe. I challenged those meat bags on cobra kai. That's now how it works... To much telegraphing.. It's not how it works. Sigh.. You were setting up a kick.. So easy it is to see wow I never set up. I can from any way I stand launch kicks, punches, small circle jujitsu.. I don't even count that as one trained it yeah professor Walk Jay... Trained with him and with Sigung Ambrose in small circle. To many George Dillmans in the world..
