Thanks for the ranking and reviews. I haven’t read all of their books yet. Shirley sounds really good and I appreciate the tip to read Villette before The Professor. I liked the 2nd 1/2 of Agnes Grey but had a hard time with the first family.

Thanks Mary! Definitely stick with Shirley when you do get to it. Some of Agnes Grey's families were awful -- I think being a governess wouldn't be a bad job sometimes, but you'd have to be very lucky with the family you got!

I haven't read every Bronte novel yet but I'd say this is my current ranking from favourite to least favourite. Wuthering Heights, Villette, Jane Eyre, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, Agnes Grey. I've enjoyed each though! I still have to read the others you mentioned.

I also tried Jane Eyre and Withering Heights when I was too young to really enjoy them. It put me off the Bronte’s for a while. But your video inspired me to try again.

I'm so glad you're thinking of giving them another go! Definitely I know loads of people read them when they were quite young, but not for everyone. Hope you enjoy!

I think my ranking would be (from fave to least): Villette, Wuthering Heights, Tennant of Wildfell Hall, Jane Eyre, Shirley, Agnes Grey, The Professor! I enjoy all of them and the top two could potentially be switched - I think because objectively, Wuthering Heights wins, but in my heart, Villette does (I don't even know if that makes sense). Enjoyed seeing your rankings!

Thanks Grace! Oh it definitely makes sense, I'm the same about Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion for Jane Austen -- P&P is probably better but I just love Persuasion so much. Wuthering Heights is brilliant as well though. Ah I really need to re-read The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, I think I may have read it at the wrong time :-)

You have done so well reading all of these. I haven’t read all of the Brontes but of the ones I have read I think Agnes Grey is my favourite. I still need to get to The Tenant Of Wildfell Hall then I can see if I agree with you or not 😉

I need to give Wuthering Heights another go now I’m over the fact everyone is so horrible. I love to read about the Bronte family and their history and have recently visited the parsonage where they lived. These books a very biographical and remember they were set in a very tough period of English history

Definitely give WH another go -you’re right it is easier once you know what to expect. Lovely that you recently visited the parsonage - definitely a trip I’ll be taking in the next few years! It’s strange but I don’t actually know a huge amount about what was happening in history in the Victorian period apart from the industrialisation aspect - up till now have been focused more on Georgian period. The biographic element does make them fascinating, especially for me Villette.

Wuthering Heights is great! Oh I would love to re-read Tenant of Wildfell Hall with you in October, I really feel like I didn't do it justice the first time around. Count me in, I'll try and keep up with you :-D

Interesting ranking. I haven't read all of Charlotte's novels yet, but my favorite of those I've read would be Wuthering Heights. I would have put the Tenant of Wildfell Hall above Agnes Grey (my least favorite so far).

Thanks Jim! I really feel like I probably did under-rate Tenant of Wildfell Hall, sometimes its just the wrong time for a certain book! I'll have to give it another chance :-)
