My Birthday in & around Swindon 2015

OK Folks, here it is, my day out in Swindon, starting with a visit to the Swindon Model Railway Exhibition at the Steam Museum and then into the Swindon Town Centre to see some vintage vehicles, oh and a Spitfire.
Hope you enjoy :0)

Great footage of your Birthday trip Mark! Interesting to hear that your Gramp was involved with the railways at Swindon. Looked a good selection of layouts there. Nice to see the selection of vintage vehicles around the town too. Sure great to hear the MG being fired up! Thanks for sharing!

Great Day out! I loved the older MG. I had a 1953 TD, and a 1967 Morgan +4 back in the day. I love the english sportscars! Of course I was particlarly interested in the O scale. I am into the bigger trains as you know. Thanks again, Solomon.

+Life After Work Now that is the vintage cars I like Solomon, but also older, like 1920's - 1930's Lagonda, any one from that era would be my dream car. Oh and Solomon, your garden is the perfect size for an 'O' gauge layout, the most perfect retirement project says I :0) Keep safe my friend. Mark

Lovely day mate got a bit of everything liked the 0 gauge layouts something I'd like to go into once Amberton comes to an end. The museum looks great a mass improvement on the original museum which I went round with my dad back in the early 80s. Cheers for sharing your day,Kev

Yay! I was the first to 'like' this :) Love that N gauge layout, reminds of the famous N gauge 'Utah Belt'. What a great tool chest...full of original Black and Decker manuel planes and bow saws....lol. Looks like a really great day out..Planes, trains and automobiles. Glad you had a good time for your birthday, mate. :))

Lol, planes, trains and automobiles, bugger wish I'd used that for the title lol. Black n Decker??, they were vintage Workz tools, better than DeWalt corp any day :0) It was a great day, but I kept making that fatal error of thinking I was recording when I wasn't so missed lots of the oo gauge stuff, will I ever learn??? Nope lol. Got a day off tomorrow, so ply up on the ceiling and the first lot of down lighters in, so if the national news reports a blackout in Swindon you'll know I got it wrong lol

Haha..Good luck with the ceiling, mate, I hope it goes well. Yeah, you can't beat those old vintage tools. Somewhere, I have a set of wooden leadworking tools that was given to me in my teens. Absolutely amazing pieces of work. Let's hope for no blackouts :) Save the Stella for after....lol

Re the music, someone has been listening to The Kinks, me thinks, circa early 1970's. I thought it was Ray Davies at first. Oh, and happy birthday.

Nice one Mark, looks like you had a good day out. Hope you win the mini, one of the cars on my dream list when I win the lottery (suppose I would have to be in it to win it first though...lol) you couldn't give me one of these new BMW versions I'm afraid as I'm true blue Issigonis or nothing, except maybe a John Cooper special!! Just had a thought, if I do win I'll need a garage building, now who do I know with experience...............

+Skippy ab Lol, that's what Debbie I kept saying about the lottery, how great it would be to win it, then remembered we weren't actually buying tickets, I think she is now though lol. Yes that's Debbies dream car as well, she had a mini when she was 17, her dad resprayed it red for her and now she's looking around for one, but like you it has to be original, no point getting anything else, the BMW is naff. If you want a garage built to look like jigsaw puzzle then I'm your man lol......

Hi Mark, Looks like a great day out, I really wish I had space for a O gauge layout, I really do.. maybe when my lottery numbers come up? I wish! Some nice cars there too, Somedays I wish I hadn't sold my classic car but you need to be good at mechanics with them :( Cheers, Michael

+Michael Henfrey Hi Michael, yea it was a fabulous day out and the fact the town centre had all the vintage cars rounded it off perfectly. I'd love an old vintage car as well but like you know nothing about the mechanics and that's something you have to know inside out, fingers crossed for the lottery mate :0)

A very belated Happy Birthday Mark, I am seriously now getting to like O gauge - very dangerous! lol. The cars looked beautiful and the Cobra looked gorgeous - was it a DAX Cobra do you know? I built a Cobra about 12 years ago but it wasn't a DAX though. A DAX is one car I would still like to build even today, they are fantastic cars, the engineering on them is wonderful. ...........Graham

+Graham Foulston Lol thank you Graham, on the countdown to retirement now, just hope the sneaky buggers don't knock it up a couple more years like they just have, I was gutted when I heard that.... Sorry Graham I have no idea what type of Cobra it was, just that is was a replica, I know very little about cars, now motorbikes, well that's a whole different thing ;0)

Nice day out Mark, And a great collection of video and photos from my kind of day out. That's not a bad Cobra replica... I worked for a company that did their own version of the kit many moons ago.I would love to build a Gardener-Douglas Version of the Cobra as they are stunning. Shame the MG Wasn't a MGB GT V8, cos the burble of the V8 at idle just can't be beaten, Not that I love V8's or anything lol. How Are the walls going? Dave

+Headly South Thank you Dave know absolutely nothing about cars, wouldn't have known what type they were if they didn't have a badge on them. I only wish that on the day all the owners were there then I'd have tried to get them all to start the cars so we could have heard them all, now that would have been a real treat :0) 1920's - 1940's Lagonda...... now that is something I would love, trouble is it wouldn't fit in the garage now lol

+Western Centurion I'm sure with some modifications you could store the Aston either above the layout room or underground beneath the layout room... or you could try turning the lounge into the Aston's bedroom, but I don't fancy your chances with Debbie lol ;-)
