Understand, I think you don't really hate the producers. You just can't be creative or producer music around them. You're more productive by yourself. Like Adam Port with Keinemusik, he prefers working alone.

I hate collaborating with producers that I either don't know personally or who feel like they have to rip my original creation to shreds. Somewhat related is producing for someone who also produces for themselves. Combined with demoitis, its the fuckin worst...

A collaboration should be just that. It's hard to colab if it ain't about the music. I love collaborating but I leave the ego and "expertise" out the lab...

My biggest regret is not putting my ego to the side and not being offended if an artist didn't like my beats. You can make the most technically dope beat of all time but if the artist can't find the pocket and be inspired to do their best work with it..its useless.

a long time music mentor and friend Curtis Knight (not from Hendrix) and I showed David Frangioni (CEO of Drummer Mag) about MIDI.. we were playing with Master Tracks Pro Apple IIse then PC, and Roland MT-32, D-50, MC500-MKII's, S-550 etc.. I had no idea that I could've continued doing my own thing in music or how, 40yrs later, I'm unsure about my music abilities, and not happy with results on KZread, Twitch or SoundClown.

My god bolo. You got screwed out of major money like that! Those folks are so low integredy. The way “us” good people think if we do good business that we will be successful together. Never safe to swim around all these damn sharks.You are a great human being Bolo. I appreciate everything you do for us strangers that are in love with music. I started wayyyy too late even though I have always loved music and if I can’t ever make anything of it professionally due to all the life circumstances i’d be ok, and I will still be in love with it. I love it so much that i’m working on building my basement studio and i’m praying that my son can age into loving music. To start with everything essential there and ready for him at his very young age so he doesn’t need the gear he will only need his love of music and a solid support base, musical education, and mind to make everything come true before “life” happens for him. I started making beats last year at 35. I played piano and knew music theory really well when I was 9. I really regret not starting earlier and dropping off the music classes as a kid

I think I made my first song when I was 13 off a phone app as a joke and tried music again at 15 and took it seriously at 16 and I’m 21 now and I can definitely say finding your passion young is superrrrr beneficial 🖤

Good wisdom shared. We all have regrets. I was one always hired to play keys and should have made contracts as co producer. Didn’t realize I was really more than just a musician to come up with concepts to bring someone’s idea to life.

My regrets: 1. Not working with other artists when i first got success 2. Depending on the wrong managers for my success 3. Not understanding contracts my first 10 years and not having a lawyer on deck. 4. Not buying my own studio outright when i had the money to do it. 5. Selling my MPC 2000 for $400 lol

Also gotta remember producing and technology go hand in hand. The better the technology the more the opportunities.

The easiest/least expensive place to travel in the country from most other places is Vegas. It's not too hard to drive to L.A. from there if you need to handle business either but it is a full day. There's LOTS of people in/out of as well as living in Vegas for the 1st reason I mentioned.

It took me 20 yrs to go back to school, so I decided to go to school for something that I actually enjoyed doing. I was always the guy that said no I’m not being a part of no group/camps. Just pay me for my track(s). No networking at all just word of mouth.

Regarding your music theory part…if you took theory 101 and 102…the rest of music theory classes is nothing but repeating the same thing different ways. Theory doesn’t change based on genre..and I’m saying this as a music major lol

Nah, not doing any courses there’s enough info out already. As for copyright go to www.copyright.gov super easy process just follow instructions. You can send several audio files at one time and only pay once 👍🏾
