The tipping culture is so crazy that even braider asked me for tip. A self employed lady who set up her prices for her braiding services. I asked her why she didn’t add the tip to the service cost. The entitlement is too much. It’s almost like legalized theft

And for the job thing, you’re right. They will easily employ you if you were recommended by someone who is already in the job.

Tips was a shocker for me as well. Having relocated from Europe where I never experienced that. I am still trying to wrap my head around it

@BemiBadmus

Lmaoo the thing on the flag is Maple 🍁 for what their country is known for. But the Igbo thing ehn is another ball game entirely!!!
They specify the tip on the receipt! And they stand there until you check the “box”

I really don’t think a lot of Africans don’t want to help but our people are really still struggling, you might see them at the top but some of them have just one leg in after going through fire to get the job… so some of them are afraid to put other Africans forward so they don’t loose their seats….
@BemiBadmus

daycare is $200/WEEK/CHID here in America. There is alot of cannabis here too. same thing with Tipping here. annoying. alot of time. i just give $5-10, it doesn't matter how much i bought. how mortgage alone is $4000/month. After being in america for the past 11 years. i am ready to go back to Nigeria. especially since i can still working from nigeria
@BemiBadmus

I moved from US to Canada and had many shocks. Funny thing is I used to visit but didn't notice these things till I started living here. If I talk it will be like complain lol 🤐
@BemiBadmus
Ай бұрын
To think I had also visited before and didnt notice any of these things. It really hits different when you start living in a new place.
My life took a different turn two months ago but overall I'll say that God has been faithful. One effect of my new life just hit me yesterday but surprisingly, I'm not tensed. I am more at peace and I know that it can only be God. So yeah, I'm fine.. I guess I can be better though😂 I'm giving shady explanations just because I don't want to give everything away 😂 I hope you understand I just responded to the How are you question because you asked us to

I guess it must have been a looonnng time since you were here. The tipping will shock people who moved from the UK to here. But here in the US? Ha! The waiters etc get paid chickens in wages like $3 per hour and they are supposed to make it up with tips. I did not know this until my daughter went for a job!!
@BemiBadmus
Ай бұрын
Are you sure tho? I’ve seen waiters that get paid more than minimum wage and they still ask for tips
@ijeomai3746
Ай бұрын
This is what most of them say to justify tips. May be different for certain restaurants. But this is true, ask a waiter.
People love their pets in civilized countries and they're generally harmless so you may want to get used to it 😂😂😂 My own is sha keep them on a leash. You're in BC so you will see all kinds of wild animals 😂 Pele. The PNW mountain views compensate for that.
@BemiBadmus
Ай бұрын
Oh yes the Mountain View’s are amazing and it’s everywhere.. but the animals ehn! 🤦🏾♀️
Igbo?? It must have been a while or where you were.

Thank you so much 😊
Awwwn! This was fun to watch. I think your culture shocks are different now because the last time you were in US, there was no Tise and you were still much younger. Now, the factors to consider are a lot more like getting a school for her and all. Also, to be safer, I think the term you were looking for is ethnic minorities to sound politically correct😅. I also can’t understand why the taxes there are more. It beats me. Tipping is in important o. If you’ve been on the other side doing odd jobs, you’ll know just how helpful it can be😅 Absolutely love your skin glow by the way☺️. Looking forward to more story time videos
@BemiBadmus

You are right tho and I have learned a new one today and I love it, ethnic minorities!! Okay na! Thank you 😊
😂😂😂 its the conductor that will say koshi danu pelu thank you e😂😂
@BemiBadmus
Ай бұрын
Lmaooooooo I can see this happening 😂
Well I don't say thank you bus drivers or conductor but if I am Opputuned to enter a private car that decided to pick people because he is going that route. I say thank you even though I paid for the ride
@BemiBadmus
Ай бұрын
Yeah here even if it’s bus or taxi or Uber, it’s really nice to say thank you after paying!
My grandchn go to a school that’s $3,000. monthly, and $30. for every 15 mins late picking them up after 6 p.m. The parents earn about $25k monthly, and are determined to have academic and artistic excellence for their chn. They don’t plan to have anymore chn. EXPENSIVE !!! Lots of culture shock assimilating into the diaspora…..

The day would have been great if dispatch riders in Lagos were sane smh
@BemiBadmus
Ай бұрын
Urghh dispatch riders and their wahala! Sorry dear
Skin!!!!
Bemi you didn't tip in US? 😂 It's the same culture. On a serious note, waiters are paid below minimum wage, so they rely on tips to earn a living. I just tip as my reasonable service not out of compulsion especially after the pandemic where these people's income suffered the most. You see the taxes ehn?! Nobody prepared me for that. Never in my 10 years in US did I pay as much taxes as Canada. Cost of living is also a lot higher than US and disposable income is lower. God is helping us sha.
@BemiBadmus
Ай бұрын
I did Tip in the US but it wasn’t compulsory like this place… but I also understand the reason sha. God should just keep helping us out 🙏🏾
Omo Your culture shoke, shoke me sef...😂

It's just appalling that some Africans get into a place and don't want to hire others. There's this "I'm better than you" attitude.
@BemiBadmus
Ай бұрын
Is it that? Or the “I don’t want you to be better than me” attitude
@victoriakam27
Ай бұрын
There's that too
Please what happens when you don't tip?? Are they the ones rating you or the other way round?? Haaa o ga oo
@BemiBadmus
Ай бұрын
In some places they add the tip to the total amount you will pay so you no even get choice.
