13:58 they didn’t call that offsides but 10:06 was offsides. How much that ref getting paid 😂
I played RWB this past Sunday (7 a side) and covered a staggering 2.9 miles. 🤣🤣 just thought I'd give everyone a laugh.
Matt have you ever thought about going into coaching post playing career? I think you would be so good at it, your analysis videos are very honest and to the point

I agree. Matt is a student of the game, clearly. Would make a great D1 college coach and then maybe onto the pros after that.
I really enjoy your analysis videos matt. Im older than you and play just for the love of the game but we are very similar players and your game breakdowns are great and very useful to me as a former winger turning into a defender as I get older and slower. Im occasionally in Charleston to see family so I hope you stay there quite a while and that I can meet you sometime. My brother in law is friends with Tanner from the staff there so hopefully I can make it happen. Cheers!
Good game man. I recently shifted from Centre midfield to Centre back so your vids are really helpful
Well played again Matt, I love seeing the analysis and learn a lot from these. It's great seeing a former Rangers player in Robbie Crawford there as well 🔴⚪🔵
yessir matt great game nice job
Thabks Matt needed this video got a friendly trial match starting at cb
wow, you learn so much from this analysis
great video, thanks for giving all the details. especially the wrong pass to the Ref, I have done it a couple times. I always think I should look around before making the pass but you point out I should have done it before receiving the ball.
thsi shows that the best defending is organisation and anticipation, you rearly have to tackle if you keep your composure and calm. SAFETY is something major too if you dont have an opening dont force it you always have a keepert to whom you can play it back, remember keeping position is great
Thanks for this. I am 31 years old (about the same age as you) and I just started to play soccer in 2023. I am WAY past my prime so I have defaulted myself into becoming a CB/Defender for my Rec League team. Videos like this are super helpful because I will never be as good as my teammates who started playing at age 5. They are far better than me at dribbling, vision, & ball skills. However, as a defender, half the battle is being at the right place at the right time, positional placement on the field, and attacking the striker. I appreciate your commentary man. My only regret is not learning of how fun this sport truly is when I was younger lol.

Actually sometimes the peak of centre backs is from 30 to 35 years old due to it being a position which helps if you have some experience so I would say you might not necessarily be past your prime which is good news :) For goalkeepers it's 33 to 40 so you may consider playing goalkeeper next time.

It is okay man. I am 38 years old and I still play every week.. as a CB myself the best thing is to quickly learn both your teammates and opponents' strength and weakness and try exploit that. Little thing matter. Have fun bro
awesome defence 🔥

i will play alongside or against you in the next two years, looking forward to it

Good analysis boy
Nice video! Just wanted to know if the team you playing at now is better than tulsa?
Matt - only been following since FC Tulsa days but have you ever been on a winning team (no offense)? I'm frustrated seeing Charleston be 4-16 and I'm not even on the roster!. Can you talk about the mentality/challenges of being on struggling teams year after year?
Bro keep going
One thing is guaranteed when you go to watch Charleston.... goals!
Does Matt have any videos on what he thinks of the lower divisions in the USA? How likely is it for someone to work up the ladder without high level college experience?

He has a few videos on this topic within the last year actually. Do a quick search and I'm sure you'll see them. They're very thorough.
Hi Matt, I love your vids as I play as a defender. I play u13 and played a friendly against an academy as a right centre back. Do you have any tips to deal with strong and fast strikers? I am not the fastest but I can run. Thanks from Birmingham, England 🏴

Even though I am not matt, i am also a CB, try to give yourself an advantage, sometimes let the ball run out instead of chasing it. Also hit the ball out of play if you can just about get to it, don't take chances. Give away fouls and go down if you feel contact. Also instead of chasing a through ball, intercept it before it goes past you or reaches the striker

@@Thetierlistmaniac Ok, thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. All the strikers are really tall and I am quite small so if you have anymore advice regarding that topic, it would be helpful.

@@ironbizmark2174 as a defender, most fast wingers are going to want to take you down the line so try to force them wide into a difficult decision, don’t get too tight on them because if they turn on you they’re gone. Hey love your content. I got converted to right centre back after years as a wingback. Finding it hard to have the vision to remember there is a wider option than me my wingback after years of playing off the byline. Do you have any good videos with advice for how to open your body whilst keeping your eye on the ball? I mean specifically when defending a fast attack or counter and your wide centre back has been beaten one on one their winger has driven to the byline and youve had to sprint back watch the ball and your man when they drop off your shoulder back into the empty pocket? Im making most interceptions but theres been a couple of times theyve found a yard or so of space and have only been able to get there last minute to put them off.
Would love to see your college routine. How you trained, what was your schedule for the day in college, how you balanced study and football as a student athlete?
matt u should use the community tab more
How you ever thought or playing for a national team if your parents or grandparents are from another country where the level of soccer is not that much you have a lot possibilities to play national games or you can play for united states territories like Puerto Rico or other island you just need to get the resident but usually they help with that !
Do you regret going to Charleston? You seemed like a much better player at Tulsa, you played up front as well, this team your on struggles in the back and up top except your center forward. Your 1v1 defending isn't tight enough and you can make an argument you had a hand in each goal that was scored. I think your channel is great, and last year i was hoping to see you in MLS, but Charleston seems like a tough team to play tactical and technical soccer with. All the best
Love the videos . As a center mid here , you’re getting lots of angles to through your ST. So instead of trying to through the players run . Try and aim the pass to a certain part of the field . That way the positioning between ball and goalie isn’t a problem .
can you do a video of a pyramid with all the professional usa leagues
Good job nice positioning but also you guys need to try to change the game more often
Rogue game but good defensive performance
Constant theme of mistakes from your team... Attack does not look threatening at all too
😍😍😍
Hi matt Thanks for sharing your analysis. It was a good performance. Unfortunately a naive defending from your team ended to loose the game. Also the formation of 3 defenders at the back was a mistake in my opinion, the midfield and forward players don't make pressure to their back. A 4 4 2 formation I think would more effective against Detroit. Good luck matt for next games. You deserve a better team. Merci
Good game from yourself
man what was that Centre Back AJ doing this match?
👍
that was offside by a mile 😂
I have a big struggle when i try to increase my intensity during sessions and go for extra sprint… my feet get burns and cuts from the cleat and that makes it so difficult to play! Do you have any advice?

Im sorry but you keep saying you didn’t want to lose the ball in the back and proceed to boot it up at the end of that the defenders wins the ball basically your giving them a pass.
'3-4-3 does not sound very good
Your one of the best but your teams one of the worst
Sorry bro, just more piss poor defending as a whole. No you so much but certainly that middle back. Good lord. No spacial recognition of where opposing team players are in the box. I never liked 3 in the back to begin with. You guys need a Chris Armas type stopper/destroyer in the middle somewhere and let that centerback just roam a bit and pick up long balls and missed passes.
Very poorly conceded goals, esp the goalkeeper at the third goal. 😩😩😩
Nice click bait title because if that is your BEST game yet it is time to hang-up the boots. Hopefully you were being sarcastic.
