My Bees are Being Used in a University Study
Ойын-сауық
Rogan and Alex from the Auburn Bee Lab paid a visit to my bee yard at Aplin Farms yesterday (June 19, 2024), They took samples of my bees as part of a study to assess varroa mite resistance to Amitraz. Very cool and interesting to see. I'm glad I my bees are a part of the study and that I was able to be there to film these two wonderful people at work! They represented themselves and the Auburn University well and are doing an important work.

Hi Bruce. Just watched your video on the TV and had to grab the computer and leave a comment to say how much I enjoyed it. It was really informative and applies directly to me as I am a huge Apivar fan. Great information buddy. Much appreciated.

Absolutely. You are doing great work!
Great share Bruce. Our club here is involved with Frank Rankovich and the USDA Bee lab and we get VSH queen cells each season with data monitoring. It’s a 5 year program and he’s really seeing the Amitraz resistance. I think doing things like this and what you’re doing here is only going to help the industry.

I really enjoyed this. And in my case the results are both good and bad. Hint. I’m glad I had my Apivar strips ordered so I could apply them as we pulled honey!😎
Way cool Bruce very interesting, thanks for sharing your time with us you all. Blessed Days buddy...

Very cool Bruce🐝👍😁 thanks for sharing.
Excellent work Bruce!
That’s awesome! Frank Rinkevich actually came down here and did tests at our yards and a few other people we know while he was here! We actually met him at a bee meeting at Mike Barry & Mr Ed’s bee club. He gave a speech there and then came down here for 2 weeks to test!! He is really been working hard to get a solution to this!
Very interesting to be a part of their study!
Thanks for sharing!!
All I use is Thymol, Apiguard, they can't resist that or OAV, plus it's cheap for alot of colonies.
This is great! Good on Auburn and you for checking this. I hope that the results are better than the rumors.

idk, first Saban leaves and now Bruce is affiliated with the Auburn bee lab, he's allowed his daughter to go to Auburn. I foresee an Auburn hat in his future.

I am not sure but I think he said he was raised in Kansas. I plan to do an interview with him soon.
Very interesting. Do they have a control group? Curious if the bees could be grooming mites off during the treatment phase...

I am not sure how they would run a control group with this study. Good question though. Maybe they are doing that somehow.

@@brucesbeesThey could put 300 bees in a cup like they do with the other bees but without the mite treatment. Then count the mites that fell off the bees naturally.
