I've been going to accelerated resolution therapy for a while now and I've mentioned it quite a few times in the past on how its helped me greatly improve my quality of life living with OCD and anxiety. So I sat down with Dr. Lader and asked her to go over ART to help everyone understand it better.

    I don’t think actual medical doctors give a damn about criticism from online “experts.” At best, some of the comments are laughed about over the dinner table.

    This was great Matt! Thank you for sharing. I have dealt with anxiety all of my adult life and have just recently started seeing a therapist. I always thought I could outwit my inner demons on my own. After a few sessions, I have made more progress than the 15 years I spent fighting it. Us men are too stubborn sometimes to get the help we need. I hope this video encourages other people with mental problems to go get help.

    Matt as somebody that has at times severe depression and anxiety your willingness to share shows real stones. When i asked for help it was epic. I leave for Europe tomorrow and might need on last wash my OG light garage.

    I’m glad to hear this is being effective for you Matt. I’ve been treating OCD for years but have never heard of ART. It sounds nearly identical to the standard of care, which is Exposure and Response Prevention...besides from the hand movements. Either way, so awesome that you are putting this out there and killing the stigma. Much love!

    I dealt with trauma using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) with my therapist. The way your video explained it is virtually identical to how I did EMDR. It worked wonders on me. Thank you for showing this!

    I've been dealing with OCD and PTSD for a long time and have been to many therapists and psychologists. But none ever had me do ART. I went through all the medications and even ECT. I am definitely going to find someone who can do ART with me. Thank you so much for sharing this. Also just sharing that you have (or had) this disorder is awesome and helps break down the stigma surrounding this and other mental health disorders.

    My accelerated solution for PTSD from the war was a DMT spirit walk in the jungle and SGB treatment. Changed everything. I think it's awesome you put this out there, any positive energy out out there towards breaking down the stigma is amazing.

    Ive had social phobia all my life. Definitely limited what i could achieve. I tried drugs when i was younger like Zoloft, Paxil, Etc but they other made me tired and ... erm messed with Mr Winky downstairs 🤣

    I commend you on your progress buddy and sharing your issue, it genuinely takes great courage to face fear and surrender control, panic/anxiety/ocd can be so debilitating. I know its terrifying, but it really is worth it, embrace and interact with the fear, short term pain for long term gain. As this lady says, a domino effect, it will get easier and easier as you desensitise. There will be days that are more difficult, progress is not linear, but its progress. Well done, make sure to congratulate yourself also.👍

    Would you mind letting us know what ended up happening with you regarding your anxiety? Did things change for you? Where you able to get passed your anxiety with going to the dentist, etc.? BTW- I can relate so much with what you said towards the end about procrastination!!

    As long as you are conscious of what you are doing and saying that’s all that matters. Gun shot comments of another’s opinion is the side effect of anxiety. Controlling what is uncontrollable. You are doing great and after almost 4 years and can say I see a difference.

    I once went through EMDR as a child to help me process through events of my earlier childhood, very effective for that period of life. As an adult, of course, with an increased mental capacity and function, past events are required to be gone over, again. Jesus is the only way that I have experienced complete freedom of anxiety. Why? Hebrews 4:14-16, as one reason. No matter what the world has offered me to help resolve anxiety, Jesus has been the only thing and one that has helped completely and fully, without any lapse, been the source of my help, as well as him being the only source for complete fullness of life. Note: It must be taken into account that for some, medication is a wonderful tool to help see God clearly and fully; it is a tool, for some a life time for those that may have a predisposition; for others a season, in the context of having a faith. For those that do not have a faith, medication is great tool to assist one in the pursuit of being present. However, I ask it is completely and viably sustaining, and completely fulfilling for the rest of ones life in lieu of taking that said medication for the rest of ones life? If it isn't, I know a guy and he happens to be the most controversial man that has walked the face of the earth. For clarification, the purpose of this comment is not to degrade or undermine modern science, as it has clearly been of great and wonderful benefit for you Matt, which is cause for celebration. I hope you and the family treat yourselves to a night of fellowship and good food in celebration of your milestone. Though, I must ask, in the future days of your road of recovery and sobriety, and for myself included, what source of contentment and fullness of life does this world offer us, for the rest of our lives? For me, the world offers me nothing. Why? Because the things of this world that I love, the worldly things that I use to fill that longing in my heart, are merely temporal as they fall within the bounds of time. Lastly, it is been a pleasure to see the growth that has come within the last few years of your life, keep striving to make the next day better than the next, run the race set before you with endurance. -Cheers

    Have you provided an update somewhere? I did my first session of ART virtually last night and I don't feel like it did a whole lot, but the therapist said it was normal. I do feel like things changed because I feel different but can't pinpoint it, I just can't say it rid me of fears we worked on, but she did do a gentle approach starting. How was your first session?

    I also have no idea how i got my fear/anxiety disorder, since 14 it all a sudden popped up. spent inside for 2 years cos i was scared of everything and i got heavy panic attacks out of nowwhere which created phobias for almost everything, well with medication i was able to get my normallish life back :) but trying to get rid of it now completely is not working, also without medication i cant function. The battle continues :) , lets see if this is something for me...?

    Omg please help me! I heard you mention the dentist. I am literally so afraid to go to the dentist and get Novocain that’s I’ll die. I have this image in my head that when they administer the Novocain, I’ll go crazy...not from the Novocain, but because I’ll convince myself to just because it’s in me. Do you think ART would help with that?

    Care to elaborate. I am too. Afraid to get my tooth pulled. I’ve whipped myself into such a frenzy, I convinced myself that local anesthesia will make me go crazy, and now to the point where any medication will too. Even tylenol. Doing this next week. Hope it helps

    @@centralctbench6843 I've always battled this. Usually caused by the combination of waiting, within a small room or prescribed area, for a medical procedure. I've always avoided anything medical. My last visit was 2004 or so. But I recently cut myself on metal, and drove to the E.R. at 3 a.m. Tried a new tactic: I decided to "control" the phobia/fear by telling each person throughout the process, "I may pass out. It's no big deal- just give me a few seconds to wake up, then, continue with what you have to do." It worked. My knowing that everyone else "knew" beforehand seemed the render the phobia powerless, stripping its "element of surprise". Fifteen stitches, many needles, just without LOOKING over at all the red stuff. Short version: tell everyone in the office beforehand, and the phobia becomes powerless. My best of luck to you.

    sounds all familair, when i was 14 your couldnt talk about this to anybody, cos they would think your nuts, now we now what it is and its more "normal" and seen as a medical condition more then your nuts. If i made a video like this back then people would really think your looney and send you off to a nuthouse. Well i dont care what other people think anyways, but i like my freedom :) great that you made this video Matt! Got an appointment again tomorrow and i will ask about this therapy, i never heard of it before.

    I wonder of any of this ties into depression. With all due respect, you come off as very unhappy. I see many of my undesirable traits in you, which sort of keeps me away from the channel. Take for instance when you were giving the people at Meguiar's a hard time about their numbering system, etc. That they should yield to you. I do the same thing! I was listening to that video, and my gf was in the garage with me.. I was like... Why is this guy such a fucking tool, he's so rude to these people?? She's said "that sounds like you!" Oops... However, lately esoteric studies have shown a quick, tremendous turn around. It helped me sort of calm down my ego. To see that there my personality, or "persona" isn't necessarily what I am inside. My gf was commenting yesterday how I broke some of my patterns. How I hate making left turns. I made a ton of them. How I don't like to deviate from my path. She said hey, let's get some Starbucks, but then said "oh, it's out of the way", but I move into the far right lane, and went to Starbucks... I took the highway to her condo, where I would only take surface streets usually. My drum set... I had a very strong idea of how they should look, which is incongruent with physical ergonomics... But now I can set them up in an was that works for me, and keep them that way. Makes me feel like a kid again! Drivers tailgating me used to really drive me nuts, but since I "let it go". I have not been tailgated. This has to be some sort of spiritual manifestation thing.. I think for me it started in 2011. That summer I was off from work, and I discovered how much I loved being alone. I had an occasional drum gig, or detail, but I was away from people and I loved it.. From there it was sort of a downward spiral. In 2014 I had a car wash and lost it, and I think that really depressed me as well.. Lost a ton of money, and a lot of pride. Tried to come back with an online detail supply store, but hated it. I HATE shipping product... Kudos to you Matt, and best of luck to you! Stuart Wilde, Michael Mirdad, and Devon Elon Madgy have some extremely controversial and "out there" ideas, but they really helped snap me out of my fear state, and back to the cool, loving guy I used to be.

    I think it might be my monotone, say what is so, that turns a lot of people off. I'm probably one of the happiest dude on the planet. I have a great family, get to do what I want when I want, and make piles of cash doing it. What's not to love? I just don't beat around the bush or ask the same questions other do in a polite fashion with extra pleasantries. That will ensure this stays niche. I think I'm okay with that.

    Naive. Yes they are all positive contributions towards a healthy lifestyle but you’re being ignorant to how much of a barrier mental health can be to what seems to you a simple habit.

    @@Joe_Cribben My view is that people should maximize benefits and minimize drawbacks, always. What I say is that professional physiological support, sometimes, may hinder the healing process instead of speeding it up. Not only having professional help can be expensive but it can have other disadvantages. Among those the fact that a self-interested professional can convince you that you have a problem just to have you on his/her appointment list while in fact you are perfectly ok. We know how impaired may be the relationship between a professional - that has the so called "expert-power" - and a client that lacks information and understanding. The client is (always!) at the weak side of that relationship. In this case Matt is a “patient” but he is a “client” at the same time. Psychology is also a business and business practices are not always fair. How much subtle, in psychology, is the boundary between normality and abnormality? I am an advocate of natural healing and I encourage physiological support from humans when this is spontaneous and without external constraints. When this support is provided against payment I am a little suspicious. A professional can help in case of severe physiological and organic problems, no doubt. I am sure Matt only needs to understand things not to be "cured" of any kind of disease. If the real problem is Matt's understanding and knowledge, a book can be a real treasure. Reading, relaxation, social life, fruits, vegetables, physical activity is all there is to it. Sometime we feel empty inside. There is a void in ourselves and we are prone to fill that void by lapsing in addiction and compulsive disorders. That void should be filled with simple positive actions not artificial material things neither self-driven professionals that relay on clients’ payments for their living. At the end of the day Matt only needs a little bit of relief and a little comfort from his stressful life. If meeting the psychologist can help Matt finding these things, fine! Matt gets what he want, he feels better, and that’s what counts the most.

    @@ObsessedGarage Com’on Matt, we all have problems! Who said that changing the lifestyle is an easy and simple thing? Change of habits is one of the hardest things to do. And this is why many people are continuously struggling in finding a solution of their problems. Eating fruits, vegetables, doing physical activity, having social contacts, relaxing. You can do those things for a couple of days. Doing those things as a full blown, long-term, permanent regimen is all another thing. This is the reason people are trapped anxiety, addiction and depression. It is too hard to change a habit that has consolidated over decades. Paying a specialist is simpler and this is the reasons consulting a physiologist alone doesn’t solve the problem.

    @@ObsessedGarage My tip is: start with reading "The Willpower Instinct" by Kelly McGonial Ph.D., a lot of other books on addictions are really helpful.
