I will say as an Aston owner myself, you can cut down a lot on the badge tax, but it takes FAR more work than the average car to research and cross reference parts. The price ends up being worth it, but yes it takes a lot of time and patience. For example, my Aston's dashboard pen was broken when I bought it. As a pen guy, I wanted it to work just because. Well, the Aston version of that pen is $110+. But through a lot of research, it's just a laser engraved Lamy Pico. So I bought a standard chrome Pico for $30, took the laser engraved piece off the broken pen, put it on the new pen, and viola! I now have a functional dashboard pen. Just had to be creative.

I also had a 2005 DB9 for 5 years and used it as a daily driver. Put 46,000 miles on it. Very reliable for me. Only big expense was putting in new plugs and coils. Had to go to dealer for this, $4000. Was a big job since entire intake manifold comes off. Other wise I did most of my routine maintenance. Wish I had not sold it.

Great to hear! They really are great cars! My Aston was a heck of lot more reliable than any of my German cars. One day I will get a 14'+ Vanquish to replace my DB9.
I put a good number of miles on a db7 V12 convertible (Vantage Volante) 6-speed manual. What an incredible car.

Hey Dan. Great video !! So glad to hear you really enjoy your Aston! It’s reliable because it was designed to be. I’m sure by now you have read a few of his articles on the development of the v12 but if not I can send them to you! Great video and beautiful car !

I wanted to buy an Aston at 30 year olds also 10 years ago lol winded up buying a few Bentleys over the years. Still love the Aston Martin brand and planning to buying one soon. Great informative video.
I bought a 2015 Rapide S last year...No regrets and not planning to sell anytime soon or ever!

@@armenway doing great! Engine temperature sensor failed and some creaking coming from somewhere in the front…other than that no issues driving it hard for 6k miles in almost 2 years. The sound is amazing especially in tunnels and I love cruising around in low gears. It’s heavy and interior rear space is limited but for the right circumstances it’s an absolute gem!
Great thing about U.K. is lots of independent specialists at great prices
Just purchased a db9. Wanted a vanquish. But they’re selling for 3-4x as much. Will definitely have one in the near future
I have the same color DB9 but with a charcoal interior. Wish it was blue like yours was. Mine is an '09 which has significant improvements over the earlier cars. My nav screen is pretty useless as there is not any current nav info you can upload. I use Waze anyway. Great car; such a sleeper visually and performance wise.

Nice looking ride. I’d heard the 2005-06 had oil issues-as in starvation issues. Glad your turned out well.
@DIYDanCars
2 жыл бұрын
My dealer contact told me that owners with oil starvation issues were because they ran the car low on oil. Aston Martin later issued a revised dipstick which added an additional 1 quart to the sump to help alleviate the problem for owners who don't check their oil level. I think you would be surprised by the amount of people who spend $200k+ on a car and then skimp on maintenance.
Nice video ! Got the same car but 2006 model - never had issue with gearbox collant lines or Lynn 950W Audi amplifier…main issues for me are with the AC and the leather trims who are stretching… but mechanically… those car are bullet proof.

How long have you owned it? I wonder if the transmission cooler lines and amplifier have already been replaced? Most of these issues happened very early in the car's life. Besides those small hiccups, my DB9 was great!

@@DIYDanCars I’ve owned the car for 3 years . I am sur that amplifier has never been changed. The cooler lines may have been fixed before though…
Hello Dan, I am thinking as you on my 30th birthday to get DB9, but I want to use it as daily driver. What milage you got and do you know if there are any rust issues ? Because I plan use car in winter too.
Hey bro ...great review but I have to respectfully disagree on 1 point .... dealer service on these cars Is yes, a bit more expensive, but, with these cars, for me, it's not about that but about proper 100%care, plus, a dealer service history keeps the value up for eventual resale....btw, I have the 2014 db9.2 and am smitten by her.....cheers
Its settled, the Rapide S is on my bucket list

I’m a bit of a purest and would’ve kept the original wheels and got them restored to original condition, the interior of an Aston as you stated is a thing of wonder as it feels solid and with the combination of metal and sweet leather…beautiful car and great informative video 👍
