2006 Aston Martin DB9 Volante - Best Exotic Money can buy?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A review of a 2006 Aston Martin DB9 convertible. This car has 450HP through a 6 L V12 which gets 13 mpg city and 18 highway. The transmission is a ZF 6 speed automatic with a curb weight of around 3,968lbs. With the manual transmission it comes in around 3,770lbs. I really enjoyed driving this car and captured the amazing sound of the V12 so enjoy the video.

I just had a ride in a similar Aston Martin Volante 2006. It´s much faster than you think. The owner gave full gas, and oh my god it´s so fast. I got to drive it too, and I´m a man who can´t afford a normal car. This 12 cylinder motor is awesome. It was a dream come through.

I have an Aston DB9 2016 and it is bullet proof. Best car ever and I am amazed that it's not more popular in the USA. Can sell for double the price in Europe. Much more unique/scare than other exotics here in the US. Once you've driven one you realize the used price out here is insane - SO much car for the money!

Just saw a V12 Vantage yesterday, yellow and black w/black and stainless wheels, absolutely amazing. He had aftermarket exhaust on it too, he gave it enough throttle so when he let out I got a nice flamethrower show!

Well produced video! 👌 I live in the UK and have owned a 2007 DB9 Volante for nearly two years now. The only maintenance I have had done is a re-bored radiator and a service at not a great cost. The car cost me the equivalent of $38,000. It never stops giving you thrills with the top down on a sunny day (but not many of them in the UK!). This car is a keeper, especially now with all the crappy EV cars now being produced. If you can, go out and buy one!

Get a stick equipped DB9. Rare, but they're out there. Get the shop manual and do your own brakes and oil changes. Or find a good independent British car repair shop. The motor is basically a doubled-up Ford Duratec V-6. Bulletproof, but be sure to maintain the cooling system. DB7 is also a fantastic value. I had a 2001 convertible with 6 speed and loved it. A bit cramped inside, but I never cared. Convertibles are nice, but top replacement is expensive and the coupes are way stiffer. New Astons are goofy sci-fi abortions. DB7 and DB9 are pure class, timeless and will age well.

I enjoyed watching your video. This model is reminiscent of the Camaro SS 1LE, which is of course not an exotic but has comparable performance and sounds quite similar. I will be waiting for a video of the Aston Martin Valkyrie :)

The main reason why Astons are so expensive is the lack of economies of scale. Not the premium leather, wood trim from the same tree, and other rather insignificant things like that.

John Tan No the DB9 has a torque converter automatic (zf 6 speed). It's a very common transmission...you can find it on BMWs (all 6AT BMWs have a version of this transmission) of the era, Maseratis and quite a few other brands. Though there are many different versions of this transmission, it proved pretty reliable. The successor of the 6 speed zf auto was the 8 speed zf auto which at the moment is one of the best, if not the best torque converter automatic in the world.

Cost of maintaining any car is directly proportional to how you drive it. Be sympathetic to the mechanics of your Aston and it will not necessarily be expensive to maintain.

I really want a DB9! You can get a 2005 in my area for $30,000. but I’ve been watching videos/reviews that even with a bumper to bumper warranty your still in $20,000 a year for basic repairs.

Thanks for your responds. I would buy it in a heartbeat if I lived i US. In Denmark, Europe where I live a similar car would cost around 140K (our taxes on cars are very high). This is my dream car, but parts are expensive.

Yes maintenance is very high on these cars and that is a big reason they depreciate so much. People get scared of those costs. The owner is able to do all of the maintenance on his own so that saves thousands.

Values for 2008-20010 DB9 seem quite strong and the there’s several with considerable mileage, 30-65k miles. I’d like a 2008 or so but have no interest in -a black interior-far too many are black black black.

Ah, at last somebody else who thinks black interior is boring. I can't stand black interior. Even black exterior sucks. I'm from Germany and everybody here is looking only for silver or black cars with black interior. It so drives me nuts! Because that's why it is very hard to find a nice car with a non-black interior. There are so many beautiful color combinations, e.g. green or blue exterior with tan leather interior. Looks so much better than this stupid black black black!
