My Alfa Romeo 4C has broken down again
After hoping that fitting a new battery would solve the "Gear unavailable" problem, the car finally let me down completely - causing me to have to get it transported on a flat bed truck.

Good luck John; looking forward to know what the problem is. Another 4C owner here who also loves it and would never get rid of it.
The TCM is exposed behind one of the quarter panel. Water gets in it and short circuit the module. They fixed the issue by putting a shield over it. I had the exact same issue and it fixed the issue. You can check my thread on the 4cForum.
Use NJS for my 4c and my Brera Spider that preceded it .Neil is very knowledgeable and honest.
Neil at NJS is highly knowledgeable and honest. He has looked after my 4C from new because I don’t trust the main dealerships. Also looks after my wife’s Abarth 595 Competizione.
❤️🇮🇹🌟
Good luck, I hope it's not too costly
My gut feeling says you’ll sell this car well within a year but I tend to agree with the other comments that it is a car to keep. Hope we see more videos of it in your ownership!
I've spoken to a few people who have sold theirs, they all have one thing in common: regret.
Known as a very reliable car. Sorry to hear.
I have a giulietta 1750 veloce since new, 4 years old now same engine and box as 4c not a single thing has gone wrong in that time
the alfa romeo 4c is such a gorgeous car and looks so good ive wanted to buy a few alfas but i have a friend who has had a few of them and every one he had broke down constantly ! guy i work with has a giulietta veloce 1750 same gearbox and engine its only 6 months old and his transmission has gone just like yours has and it needed taking away on a truck ! that kind of turned me of alfas for good its a pity if they could just make them reliable !!
Hi John just seen your video iv got the Alfa giulietta qv with the same engine as the 4 c I had the same fault as you and it was the hidrolic pump that failed my car was only 2 years old with about 30.000 miles it was fixed under warranty at Mangoletsi Cheshire brill service fixed it in about 4 days been fine since now on 37000 miles would be interested to see how much it costs if it is the same fault good luck hope it gets sorted love the car keep it
Johon my advice to You. Keep it
Don't do it John! I have one too. And i cant get rid of mine either. Even thought about an R8 Spider. But cant do it.
I have two problems with this video, as follows: (1) Why, when you were getting fault messages telling you that a "gear is unavailable", didn't you immediately take it to a repair shop to investigate the problem? Doing so may have saved you a breakdown and an expensive repair. (2) Why would you expect any complicated vehicle not to have a mechanical problem requiring an adjustment or repair from time to time? German vehicles, which you mention, are not exactly paragons of reliability either.
Isn’t it under warranty? My 4c is warranty for 100000k for 5 years.
Just take your car to Jamie at the Alfa Workshop Royston next time, save you time and effort. The dealers know nothing about these cars.
It's the TCM.
Now, i trust fiat dodge but I still don't trust alfa Romeo.
You will end up keeping it for the same reasons we put up with high maintenance women :) :) :)
