My Affordable Watch Collection! | SOTC 2021 Update

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

SOTC 2021! A video of my current collection of affordable watches. Lots of watches have come and a few have gone since last time and these are the ones I have at the moment. Very Seiko still heavy right now but finally got that Sinn 556 I was planning to get. Just purchased a really interesting Seiko 5 SNX425 that I think is cool! Some watches have stood the test of time since last time, like the sarb033 and snzf17. I think they will both remain for years, even though I don't use the Seiko sea urchin that much... (unlike the sarb033). The skx009 and the mini turtle have taken over the duties of of the sea urchin. Now the Sinn 556A is dominating wrist-time-wise.
A few of the watches are in the collection more or less for the sake of review and they will probably be gone by the time of the next state of the collection video later this year.

    Nice to see your collection! I recently bought a watchbox for 12 watches. So far I have 7 watches: 3 Seiko solars and 4 Citizen eco drives. My plan is to fill the box and then be satisfied with what I have. And maybe letting two other brands share the box with the Seikos and Citizens. Of course: because I always carry a watch my total amount of watches will be 13.

    Thanks for sharing! What models do you have currently? Which two brands are you planning to let join the Seikos and Citizens? Haha only time will tell if you'll be able to be happy with what you've got... I thought that when I filled my watchbox with 10 watches (or maybe I didn't even think so haha!)

    @@NordicWatchChannel My current collection is: Citizen: AU1043-00E, BM7251-53L, BM7430-89L and BN0191-80L. Seiko: SNE530P1, SNE525P1 and SNE529P1. I am leaning towards getting an Orient Bambino, I really like the design. And I will probably get my first automatic, some of the Seiko 5 Sports but have not yet decided which one. Models I am interested of: SRPE51K1, SRPE53K1 and SRPE77K1. By the way: within a few days I am actually waiting for a very special watch. My intention is to post a video on youtube with my collection, including that watch! And it's not a Citizen or Seiko. I suspect you are right about the difficulty with being satisfied with what you have and not get any more model. There are just too great watches out there! And the more I search the more watches I start to lust for...

    Cool collection! You really do have a lot of solar watches! I really like the color of that SRPE77 you are thinking about. It would be something very different from the rest of your collection! The bambinos have nice designs yes, only problem could be the size. Never bought one myself but I have handled several. Just too large a dresswatch for a wrist like mine (6,5 inch). But that's a matter of preference! Very cool, I'm looking forward to seeing that video of your collection!

    Nice collection, buTful Sinn, I have 2, a discontinued 956 Chrono Klassic with no AR coating on top, and a U1 which does and I agree with you. Back to Sinn for refinishing or new crystal. Don’t know that many 3rd party’s that do AR resurfacing.

    Thank you! Those are 2 really nice watches! Never heard of that first model before, interesting color on the dial. Almost resembles a lumed dial :D Yeah I have no idea what that would cost but I'm pretty sure that it's not worth it for me.. The scratches are not large and they remain hidden in most lightings.

    8:08 That’s the reason why I’d never get an Omega Seamaster diver. But outer AR coating on a pilot watch makes sense to me because I assume that visibility is more important than scratch resistance for the watch. Idk about the resell value but if I’m gonna be sure in my heart that I’m not gonna sell it, I wouldn’t mind a few scratches on a real pilot watch that got its priorities straight.

    Nice to hear that! Nothing wrong with that my friend. We all appreciate and prefer different things. The only thing that matters is that the one wearing the watch likes it :) Design and beauty is a really central thing in a watch. The movement is arguably just a small detail compared to that!

    Hai, I looked up the sinn and it was listed as 38.5 mm in diameter, does it wear smaller or larger than it actually is? What is your wrist size? I'm 23cm and I want that sinn, just kinda worried it would look comical on my wrist 😅

  • @NordicWatchChannel

    @NordicWatchChannel

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi! Well first of all pilot watches generally wear larger than their size if compared to other watches because the bezel is usually narrow and the dial is thus a large portion of the diameter. The 556 is still a small(ish) pilot watch, which is one or the reasons I got one. My wrist is 16,5-17cm and the size is pretty spot on for me with approx. a 46mm lug to lug. Searching for pics I saw that it looks fine on some 20cm wrists but didn’t find pics of it on larger wrists. Might take some getting used to but it all depends on what size watches you like. What watches have you previously owned?

    @@NordicWatchChannel Thanks for replying! Gshocks mostly gx56bb and a mudmaster. Bought my first seiko couple of months back, a flightmaster with 42mm case diameter. It looked a bit jarring (understatement) on my wrist, but I love the watch. Wanted the sinn so I can sell all of my other watches and just have a set of sinn. I looked up this sinn model online and they were mostly reported as tough watches, but none of the reviews shows the sinn on a larger wrist. The sinn looks so good that I'm contemplating losing weight just to have a smaller wrist, hahahaha.

  • @NordicWatchChannel

    @NordicWatchChannel

    2 жыл бұрын

    No prob mate I always answer😊 If you are used to G-shocks it will def feel small at first. There are a lot of very cool pilot watches that are usually too big for wrists like mine and the Sinn 556 is one of the few that is not. You could for example look at Damasko they make very rugged and durable watches in 40-42mm I think! I’m sure you would get used to the 556 as well but the shock might be smaller with a watch that is a little bit larger..

  • @Bara_982

    Damasko is not available where I'm from, but they do look good. Thanks for the info, might hunt one down if the sinn doesn't pan out. You're right, I don't think I can handle more shock than when I put on the flightmaster. I love the darn thing, but it looks like a penny on my wrist. Anyway, thanks for the reccomendation man. I appreciate it. Subbed. Looking forward to more content from you. Cheers!

Every now and then, my personal collection gets changed. But that’s not nearly every time I get a new watch in 😊

    Valid point. One thing that influences this is the fact that many of my watches are in my collection in order to make a review video, and since my channel is so small, I pick watches that will produce search hits. Once my channel is larger, I’ll probably start to make more oddball additions :)
