My ABARTH became a HOOLIGAN!

Фильм және анимация

My beloved Lancia / Autobianchi A112 Abarth lost a bit of wight... pretty much the entire exhaust system left the chat and suddenly this little beast sounded like a Group-B rally car!
It almost hurts to fix it... it sounds so awesome.. but I won't be able to hear anything in awhile unless I fix it..!

Mega cool car, so much fun to drive. 70 hp from a 1l engine in a chassis that weighs about 700kg. Look after her mate, she's worth a lot of money.

Bending that exhaust pipe was great. All hail to the press/bending tool. If you want that grumbling sound then skip the tiny rear muffler. Or the big one. Piece of the art is that the mufflers must be of a straight through type. Thus no chambers inside. Only a perforated inner pipe. It will give your extra horse power too. This is typical how ABARTH made his famous race winning exhausts.

I loved the (base) A112 to bits. My sister had a 1970 one for cheap (it had parking damage). In 1985 (so it was 15 years old by that time, an eternity for a 1970 car!) I drove it from Amsterdam to Swedish Norrbotten (Kiruna) and back. It only needed new brake pads. Only 42 hp, but really really fun to drive. One of the few front wheel drive cars that oversteered in a fast corner. Very noisy but a sporty noise and very comfy for such a small car. I averaged 6.2 liter per 100 km. Unbelievably economical for such an older car. It succombed to rust. The engine/gear box were still in excellent shape after almost 20 years and 200.000 km.

That new exhaust sound at the end of the video is perfect. Just as it should be, even if the crackles and pops are missed when your inner rally driver would like them.

Mann 714/2 is used for FIAT Cinquecento 903/899 and Seicento 899 OHV engines. The Cinq Trofeo 900 rally car has a shorter oil filter from Purflux: LS 169B. That would be Mann W77 or MW77.

I understand the love for the A112; I had an 850 coupe which has a lot of the same underpinnings. But, I can’t stop yearning for that damned 924…

Good to see our UK weather (rain) is being shared with you - though rather odd today was suddenly insanely warm here - must be some sort of mistake or that Thunberg kid may be onto something. Citroen C3 family car? Has the C1 gone? You clearly share your Citroen bug with Mrs Seaside.

The garage is looking awsome with the motors , my favorite car the Abarth for me the best car that you have Seppo hang on to it . I remeber when I was a teenager ( 61 now )so a long time ago a bloke up the the street had a Rover P6 V8 and I thought that was awsome he also had a Abarth like yours and that was also silver , I love seeing you messing about with this little bother maker. More power to its elbow .

It was an instant rally car conversion, trop the pipework, all the noise... :P As an aside, I can't wait to see those amazon foglights on the AZU being tossed in the bin, they look so wrong in place of the proper headlight units... :S

Yes you should take good care of it. Maybe dont drive it when it is wet outside. That helps a lot with preserving old vehicles. I learned that the hard way. Also i hope it stand in a dry place. You could maybe make a video where you take it apart and sandblast and paint some of the suspension components they looked a litte rusty. Maybe also the rest of the underside of it. Zinc plate the hardware. And put a wax like Mike sanders in the cavitis and on the underside of the car.

Back in school, a classmate had one of those, and it was the hottest car you could dream of at the time. Today, with that size and 70HP it seems very small and weak, but that probably says more about the wrong way things have gone in the car industry...

also, the same story in our parts, we have to order a oil filter for yugo by 714/2 mann code, or we risk getting the oil filter with no check valve.
