    Oh my goodness. I was 8 when she came out. I remember laying on the couch on my side with my legs hanging off the couch very bored with whatever program I was watching. Then she came on the t.v. talking and I slowly sat up staring at the screen mesmerized. I was in complete awe of her and wanted her so bad I couldn't stand it. However, I didn't even ask for her because there were 6 of us kids and my parents were barely making ends meet so I knew they couldn't afford her but every time I see her I still go back in time to the memory of first seeing her. Despite never getting to play with her that memory is priceless.

    Cricket's original outfit was big pink bows, a pink striped with many colours jumper a green skirt yellow Pantaloon underpants and yellow socks. Pink and white plastic shoes. She had other clothes, book and tape sets. Her brother was Corky. He too had clothes, book and tape sets.

    I was born in 1985 so that would have made me two when this doll was created. When I was about 5 years old my father actually found one in the dumpster. It still worked and it still had one of its tapes inside. I absolutely loved that doll. I am almost 38 now. Seems so long ago, I ended up moving and I actually donated it. So I hope some other little girl or even little boy is enjoying that doll because I know I did

    Thank you for shouting me out :) Corky is actually her little brother and there's another doll, named Jill, who is their older sister. As for the hair plugs, I think playmates figured whomever owned her would not take down the pig tails (which if you know kids, isn't realistic). I had to do the same with my AA cricket and it took me hours to get the style right. You did a great job restoring her, and hopefully you can get her outfits, they are really cute, I have two school time outfits and the sleepover outfit, all super cute. She can also wear my buddy/kid sister outfits curiously enough

    Blake Senters no thanks is necessary! But thank you for posting your video so I would know what to do! I agree, it’s not realistic for kids to keep the hair in pigtails! LOL! Thank you for your kind words! I hope I can find some original outfits too, and a more tapes. Did you ever do any research the voices for the dolls? I read for Cricket they used someone named Laura Mooney, and I wondered if she ever did anything else, like tv or movies. Anyway, thanks again friend!

    AllThingsFairy corky was voiced by Edan Gross, who is a famous child actor. He also voiced the Good Guy dolls for the child's play franchise. As far as cricket, I'm not sure who voiced her

    Great to see what you did with your cricket doll , my cricket doll came up beautiful, her hair was amazing.. I do have a question for you. When removing the silver part which I think holds the two rubber bands in place, mine is missing a tiny little spring that sits under that metal piece, my dolls mouth does work , but then stops so I think I need that little spring ..I did watch another u tube and the man said be careful of the spring, make sure the spring was still on ..so I don’t know where to get such a small spring from .. wondering if you had any advice for me ..

    This Cricket doll was creepy back in 1986 when they had this talking doll. 1986 was the year when talking figures came to the scene where they paid homage to a “Twilight Zone” episode called “The Living Doll”. And then a year later “Child’s Play” was a horror movie that put Chucky on the map. What happens when you play the wrong tape without the Cricket tape, you’ll hear a different voice which is starting to freak.

  • @cre8iveflare

    @cre8iveflare

    I did this all the time. Mariah Carey worked well in the 90s. But if you play crickets tapes in a normal tape player they beeped constantly as they played. Probably what programmed her lips to move.

  • @cre8iveflare
    @cre8iveflare2 жыл бұрын

    I still have mine and all her clothes, some of her books and a couple of the tapes. Pretty sure the cassette player still works but her lips no longer move. Her hair is ratty so hopefully this video might help me fix that. She literally was my best friend when I get her in the 80s.

I'll never forget the day when me and my young brothers went in her room... we turned on the light, and the doll was legit standing and talking... we screamed, and attacked it with a hammer.. Then we opened her back and there was no tape. we panicked even more.. TRUE STORY..
