Oh, for the first time in my life (Just turned 79!) I’m ordering and planting bulbs! Have just completed two months of chemo and my energy is returning after a couple of years of such fatigue. Life is looking up, and I’m eagerly awaiting the beauty the bulbs will bring to our world! Many thank’s Laura for your guidance!!!

I would love to be able to plant bulbs this fall. I rarely have luck with tulips, but I always look forward to seeing the daffodils first thing in my N. Georgia spring, usually in late February or March. I love learning so much from you, Laura and Aaron.

Just bought a house after living in a condo for 5 years. I can’t wait to plant bulbs!

Bulb planting is a chore for sure. I've been adding them to my garden the last few years because the spring show is wonderful.

Thank you for these beautiful suggestions. My mom was a certified master gardener, and I lost her to breast cancer 15 years ago this fall. Just before she died, I told her I’d just planted tulips in my yard for her and hoped she’d come visit me through them in the spring. And ever spring since, she has. So I will always plant as many as I can to be ready for her visits. 🌷 💕

How sad and yet so sweet. My condolences on the passing of your mom. I’m blessed to still have both of my biological parents.

There is a wonderful story in the Chicken Soup series about a gentleman with cancer getting friends to plant massive amounts of daffodils as a surprise for his wife, he knew he wouldn't be there in the spring. It's a real tear jerker but one of my all time favorites

Bulbs ARE a lot of working, but in the spring I look out everyday, “Are we close?” “Is it going to bloom today?” Such joy!

This takes me back to my childhood! My mom would get her fall bulb orders and because we are in zone 9A, she would have to store them in the refrigerator until spring! That was a “battle” in our house as daddy always said that the refrigerator was for food! 😆

Being a Midwest gal who moved to Arizona, I miss the spring tulips and spring flowers. I've tried to plant tulips and very few have come up. Daffodils will start to come through in late January and I've enjoyed seeing them bloom. I will be looking at colorblends to see if they have tulip bulbs that will grow in my area of Arizona. Love you show and can't wait to see your spring bulbs growing next year. A gift certificate would be nice to get as a present!

ZONE 8B: I'm excited to embark on my first gardening journey as a retiree. My family in Canada will be here in February and I want a show. This year, my main focus is on bulbs. Over the past three years, my yard has transformed from being in full shade to receiving full sun due to the unfortunate impact of a tornado that brought down two trees and part of my home. @@jeanettechrane4786 You got it! Lots of amending with compost. I dig extra big holes for everything I plant and mix the compost with the soil. I've also "tilled" in compost into some of my beds (quotes because i'm using a shovel to just turn it as much as I can, so it's not really tilling!). Regular mulching helps. And finally - a Truper 72 inch dual ended digging bar (pencil point and chisel point). I also try to leverage pots for bulbs to make it less painful. Good luck!
