⭐Apartment Tour in Paris 2020 ⭐
I have lived in 6 different apartments in France and 4 alone in Paris. Ekkkkk! From living with roommates, to living in a Chambre de Bonne, from a studio to finally landing my “dream” apartment in Pigalle, I know allllllllllll about apartment hunting, and apartment moving in Paris. I also know a lot about minimilist apartment living since we don’t have the space to stock unnecessary stuff!
In today's video, I’m going to give you a tour of where I currently live in the Pigalle, Montmartre area. A 42 m2 apartment with 2 small bedrooms and an open space plan because let's be real, there isn’t really room for walls. But this is my home sweet home and I love my parisian apartment! If you have questions about living abroad, living in Paris, rent prices, life in Paris, leave the questions in the comments below! Enjoy!

The door knob without a handle is normal in Europe. In Spain they often don’t even have a door knob. Lovely tour btw.

I don't think this is "Europe thing". There is a lot of countries in Europe, for example in Poland I have never seen the door knob without a handle.

Its not a European thing, in Hungary and the UK there are door knobs.

Well, then let’s say it like that in Europe it is way more common to not have a handle on the front door than it is in the US. I have never seen a door without a handle in the US. And the Airbnbs I stayed in Warszawa and Krakow didn’t have handles either. But they were older buildings, perhaps in newer buildings you have handles more often.

@@angelprincess818 well, yes there are door knobs, but often they don’t have a handle. In the sense that you can only open the front door with a key not just with the handle.
I used to live in Paris when I was 18, at my 40’s I don’t know I could survive those small rooms. I’m glad you can see the beauty of France and learn to enjoy simple living. Love your videos it reminds me of my youth years.
Such a cute nice apartment!!!!
Such a lovely place! Great use of space
The wanderer in me loved this video. Thank you so much for sharing your place. I’m from Missouri- would love to travel to France someday- and this tour was perfect for these “stay put” kind of times.
This was such a lovely video. Thank you for sharing this! I love how you maximized the space and I love the decor style!
Hello, as I know pretty well the parisian real estate market, I can tell that your appartement is really well optimized for 42 sqm ! 2 rooms (with window), not so small living/kitchen, and a seperate toilet ! Really nice :)

Thanks!! I completely agree! When we visited the place for the first time, we literally made an offer in the stairwell of the building after visiting it, lol. We saw a lot of potential by knocking down a wall or two and being able to maxmise but not having a hallway anywhere. Or just a mini one :)
This was so fun and interesting to watch, thank you! Your home looks very cosy and inviting.
Can I just say how much I LOVE your apartment. It is so charming and cute and this is exactly what I would picture if I moved to Paris. Your home is just so cute and beautiful. Good job on the decorating.
This apartment is adorable! Cozy, clean, and nice! I love it,
Loved this video! Thanks for giving us a peek into your cute Paris home; loved it!
Merci pour la visite , c'est cosy et très joli ! Passez de bonnes fêtes xx
You have such a cozy place! Watching this video has actually helped me de-stress, so thank you for this nice tour! Also, I just want to say that I really like the shade of your top. The colour very much suits that of your hair.
beautiful beams in the apt! I remember the first time I was in Europe about the separate toilet too.. but ever since I think it makes so much sense
I adore the video! The graphics were super cute and I loved the transitions. Also, I def want to mention that you look so amazing 😍😍!! Your hair is glowing and your skin is so clear!

Thank you. Nice place, and you seem very nice yourself. I live in US, don’t fly, so I for one appreciate seeing this. Thank you so much. Mike
Lovely apartment and fabulous tour,! Thank you for sharing it with us!
That's a great use of space to have 2 bedrooms in such a small area. Plus I love the 1/2 bath and separate bathtub room, that way when someone is in the shower someone else can use the toilet.
Your apartment is so beautiful and cozy! And so great to have laundry in the Unit ❤️
Adored your video 😊 Such a warm and bubbly personality. Made me laugh how you made all the bad points of your place seem homely with your humour and love for France 🌟
I just stumbled across your channel and I love it! Thanks for sharing your awesome life with us!
Great visit Kate! And E’s room looks perfect!
Absolutely so charming! It’s perfect! So happy for you and your beautiful family!
honestly never seen such a pretty structural beam
Thank you for sharing the video of your lovely home. I love learning about how people live all over the world. I have always been interested in Paris!
La Mascotte! Having that on your doorstep- I’m so jealous. Lovely apartment. Great video!
Put some larger plant at Eleonor’s room window for more privacy.
I love it!! This balcony makes perfect match ❤❤
Great job organizing. I love when you point out the differences compared to the west. As a Canadian I would have such culture shock. Have you done a video on renting a glamorous air bnd or apartment in a stunning neighborhood for whenever we get to travel again🤦🏻♀️. That would be helpful when planning vacations as an outsider. To know the ideal apartments/cafes /markets to visit. Oohhh planning a dream Parisian vacation if you were a visitor!!🙌🏻xx great video.
Hearing you was like a trip down memory lane! I rented a chambre de bonne in the 16eme way back in 1972! It had a little lavabos, a bidet, and toilets down the hall that were shared. I had to travel to a friend's grandmother's apartment twice a week for a bath. She was very typically French, and thought twice a week was typically American and wasteful! Your Paris apartment is so beautifully done! Love your taste!
I like her, cuz she is not even trying to pretend to be french. STAY YOU, GIRL! =))

Such a cute apartment. I found you while falling down the KZread rabbit hole.
your apartment is gorgeous!!! And for Paris, the size is really good. Well done for the decoration and the makeover, the open space is very nice! About the doorknob: I live in Avignon (and I've lived in many different towns and cities in the South East of France) and these types of doors are actually common in office buildings and condos / apartments but I've never seen such doorknobs in individual houses!
haha I love how you said "Where the magic happens" ^^...it can't be a true Cribs episode without hearing this phrase! :) I've thought about doing an apartment tour at my place here in Limoges as well for awhile now, but I keep putting off a thorough clean, so I'll try to get around to it at the beginning of 2021 ^^. Great video!
Hello from Tennessee, USA! I love your apartment so cute! The view from your living room is beautiful.
My Czech apartment had the same kind of door. I liked how it was a little more secure because you can't open it without the key.
Gorgeous apartment! Love seeing g how others have their Parisien apartments organized! Yay for living in small spaces 😄😉
Beautiful home and style! I love the windows in your appartment, so french!
Thanks for showing us around! Always wondered what a true Parisian apartment would look like & yours looks fabulous. Reminds me of my first apartment in NYC when I got married 10 years ago. Hope you guys make many more happy memories there. Also love your outfit!

Thank you so much! It's going to be hard to leave here someday when we want more space because we've already made so many memories here! It's amazing how attached you can get to your home :) And the pants are from & Other Stories this season and the top is just thin cashmere sweater!
Love being able to peek behind the curtain. Very cute apartment. Reminds me of my sister's place in NYC - it's 700 sq ft (not sure in sq meters). I can't imagine having 1 bathroom, but when you are used to it, it doesn't seem to be a problem! Thank you!!!
Love it! It looks like you've made quite the cozy little space for the three of you :) And not too small for Paris, either. Super cute decorating, too!

Thanks so much! We've tried to make it as cozy as we can and I totally agree that it's not neccessarily "small" for Paris. But i still feel like it's small when I compare with my life as a kid growing up in the midwest :)

@@UnintentionallyFrenchified Oh, well there, I hear ya! I'm from Kansas and we lived in the country when I was a kid... I don't think we can really compare a Midwestern family home with a Parisian apartment. But the most important part is the love between the walls, no matter the size of the home. :)
Love your place and how you have renovated and squeezed all the extra storage in... very clever and your decoration is beautiful.... but the fridge.... well that will be a funny video for the future no doubt 😀👍
Kate your place is really nice. we have a 51m appartment but there is so much wasted space. your place is well spaced and you did a great job decorating it. Thank you for sharing it.
It looks like one of these appartments on tv that get a makeover to optimise small spaces. Very nice. The beams in the kitchen are a happy constraint, they give it character. Have you tought of stickers on the window panes in the small room? You'd keep the natural light while blocking the view.
@UnintentionallyFrenchified

Thank you Amelie! And great idea for the stickers on the window. We put something like that in our bathroom when i realized in the shower that the tiny window had total access when we were showering (ehhhhh) but i didnt think about it for Ele's room, but good point!

@@UnintentionallyFrenchified better if you provide a sand-jet treatment to your daughter’s bedroom window. And I would also sugest you instale a safe net outside that balcony. That way you can open the window/door to enable vital fresh air to circulate safely.
First thing that caught my eyes in your appartment was the Largo Winch series on the shelf in the intro, instantly thought "that's my kind of guys"! haha! And then you said your husband is a Pastis Man! Whooohooo! I had to subscribe!
Ahhh, LOVE IT, Kate! Such a great space... and hilarious about the pole!!

Hahah thanks Diane! I didn't mention in the video but we actually had to get rid of some noise proof cabinets in the living room as well so that the previous landlord could blast the music and practice on her time off! I always thought the history behind the apartment was so fun. :)

Are you that naive?
I know this sounds odd, but that toilet room was so cute. Nice apartment.
Thank you for sharing, loved to see it 😊🙏🏼 It looked really nice, and you used the place very well 🙌 I have lived tiny myself for Norwegian standards. 22kvm studio apartment, with bathroom in the not heated basement. We are talking minus 10 decrees Celsius in the winter, sometimes more the winters I lived there, and no heating, so I felt I lived the Amish live then going to the pottie 😆🙈 My apartment was also above the basement, so the floor was freezing cold. But it was cheap and central, and it worked 🙌 I now live in a 30-35kvm alone. Dorm room fridge and a tiny kitchen, but okay size for the rest of the apartment. I have lived many places, and the layout and storage solutions are a key. You can live large but it is not a good layout and no storage or small and it has a great storage. When I lived in the small studio there was very good build in storage in the kitchen and for my clothes and other things and I had a storage room in the basement too. Now I have no storage room at all, and it can be difficult, but you just have to make it work. I am glad though that I don’t have a bike or winter sport gear, for that would have been difficult to store. I do store my nice chair to sit outside in the bathroom, and extra chairs for guests under the sofa 😆😆 Most things you can find a room for, and I lived in 65kvm in between these two mentions of apartment, and it was cheap, and new and nice, but not the easiest landlords. They was okay, but at the end I was okay with moving and half the size, with not the best kitchen, and no storage are better with easier landlords, close to a grocery store, and a little more central, but still in the same area. I live in a suburban neighborhood of a larger city in Norway, more like in the country side of the city, but there are building a lot, so city central is coming closer, but it is still a cheaper place to live since it is more on the country side. It is 15-20 minutes with bus in to city center, many places has longer time, but are not that countrylike so I just enjoy the luxury of living pretty cheap and very little rush time in to the city 😍😍 (Yeah I am babbling, I live alone, and this was kind of nice to talk a little 🙈) Love from Johanne, Norway 💕
Really well decorated and utilized space! I guess it’s more comfortable to have small rooms in a cold climate.
You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this!

I love paris home tours and im so happy you shared yours Kate! I had been wondering about the layout of your apartment for years from watching your videos and im glad you shared a behind the curtains look! I really like how you have styled it and used all the space saving hacks! A non-apartment question but where are your white jeans from? LOVED them and have been searching for a pair like them for longest time! love to you and your family during this 2nd round of confinement!

Thanks ana! So lovely to hear that you enjoyed to tour and other videos! I got my jeans this year from and other stories so they should still be selling them!!
Thanks for the tour. I thought the beams were some sort of fun sculpture of baguettes! Re the baby'swindow you could put in a suspension rod 3/4 of the way up the window and hang a very sheer curtain. Same for your bedroom window until the shade is fixed. Also, if you used a sconce light next to your bed you could remove the table and you would each have space to get up from the bed w/o disturbing each other. I am used to making do ;-)
@tanya8116

Agree about adding sconces next to the bed... Another idea 💡 for the baby's room is to add a privacy film to the window which still lets in light while adding privacy. They have several very pretty designs on the market...

Apartment where I lived till I was 36 had four rooms, a kitchen, and a separate toilet and a bathroom. No common area. There were 6 of us: my grandma, my parents, me with my husband and our daughter. Six generations under the same roof. So let me tell that your apartment is a wonderful place. I think that separate toilet with a sink is the blessing for a family. No one knocking on your door.
