Many runners (me included at times!) spend so much money on shoes.. when it could be far better spent investing in lots of other areas of running. Here I show you how I'd spend £260.. the same as 1 pair of Alphaflys.. to improve my running.

Great video as always. Really comprehensive look at the right gear and gadgets to look at. The belt is my number one piece of kit. Absolute game changer when I got one of those. Also believe that showing up to Parkrun each week is the best thing a new runner can do. There’s no barrier to entry and after a few weeks you’ll find your group that you “race” against to get better.

I really recommend a metronome. My cadence was really bad, 150-160 for a rather tall runner, it caused quite a lot of small injuries. I started using a metronome and slowly upped the beats per minute until I reached my goal. I never run without it, even during ultra's when cadence isn't always controllable it helps to refocus and get back into correct form.

The first thing I've spend money to improve my speed was a comfortable pair of shoes that I can run lots of kilometers in one session without having blisters or pinchpoints. Nothing fancy, actually the cheapest option that the Decathlon store had. And the second thing is my Casio STL S300. I bought it used for 10 quid. Just so I can see my lap times and if I'm on or off pace. Everything else that I use is something that I already had before starting running or I made a DIY version of it. Shoes and the watch in combination with tips from running youtubers are the 3 things that contributed the most for my speed.

The most important thing for me are the Nike Alphafly Next % and Adidas Adios Pro 2 shoes, I’ve just had multi level ACDF C5-C7 spinal fusion and having the absolute best, expense no worries as I need the most Cush and responsive shoes I can find. I tried the NB RC Elite 2 and Endorphin Pro 2 but those didn’t make the cut for me, not a super shoe in my experience. Resistance bands are the BEST!!, and now for winter some nice tights, base layers.I only run with my phone, maybe a watch in the near future as my phone will die quickly. But the biggest is my will to get out and run, heal, enjoy all these blessings God has given me. Thank for all your great content, Cheers…🙏

A think a pair of vaporfly would help a lot more with your actual running than all that clutter so this vids miles out 💯👌

Unless you're in realm of -3h marathon I think the alphaflys are a waste of money, so I'd spend those precious 260€ on stuff to help me get to that form and then buy the alphaflys or probably another shoe that does not look like I'm wearing miniature boats.

Alphafly is the biggest flop in the running shoe game right now. Even Kipchoge stopped racing in them. It's too heavy and awkward. Everybody is wearing Next% 2.

So in essence for 260, you can get Next%2s, a foam roller and register for an event! Lol

I use a brand called Naked Belt. But they are a bit more expensive.. about £45gbp. Before I had a flip belt classic, which worked well.

I want one but I really enjoy my nutribullet. It’ll tear up anything I put in my smoothies and it’s so much cheaper.
