My first car was a 1000cc Mini. It was ten years old when I bought it. The car hit 80 mph. But 80 mph in a small car like a Mini, when you are so low to the ground, well this feels like Warp Speed !!

And I've heard that's what they're like to drive, I really want to get a mini, but there's two obstacles in my way, the price of a good one with no rust or a small amount, and my mum won't let my buy one because of the lack of safety features on them :( and with the mechanics of the car, they're basic and easy to work on, rather than a new car where you need a bloody laptop to even know where to start, but thanks for your advice! Really appreciate it

Check out my newer videos. My mini is nothing like this now lol. I've still got cones on the back and currently I have 13"x7 wheels.

Along with the above mods what's the HP on this?

If you have a 998 cc mini which has done let's say 60,000 miles and then you put 1380 into it do you then have to get a new speedometer to show the exact mileage of the new engine ?

If you don't mind me asking, what year is it?

Thanks man, my mini is nothing like this now haha. Have a vtec engine in it :3 But the arches are just Sportspack Wheel Arch's. You can get them from loads of places, check minisport and minispares for starters. Hope that helps

+mattpurves Best thing to do is remove the cat if it has one. And if its pre 1992 its legal hehe Or get a bigger diameter exhaust

Awesome thanks mate, do they cover the wheel fully at the top because here in oz if any of the wheel is showing from the top it can't legally be put on the road and they're some pretty fkin fat ass rims haha

What are Minis like to drive? I'm at the age where I'm looking at my first car and I just wanted to get a few opinions on what these are like to drive

its pretty rare to see one that isn't modified, as in what is was like new. And if you do find an original they are extremely expensive 10 grand+. And the whole point in minis is to tinker with them, make them faster/handle better

:D with the new vtec engine I've gone 120mph and it was still pulling strong. But I was too scared to go any faster xD

What's the cost of getting the engine bored to 1380? Mines a 1298 and I want to stay a series but get over 100 brake and a 1380 is the best way to do so from what I've heard?

I bought it already bored out to 1380 so I'm not the best guy to ask really. I'm sure there are loads of forum posts about it. I don't even have a mini engine anymore, went Honda vtec swap lol

Instead of braking, change down into third on corners, makes for a better drive and means you can accelerate out of corners better.

Depending on who makes the kit, you could probably get up to 20bhp extra. Also depends on whether it is Fuel injected or not.

i said up to and yes, it is entirely possible. It all depends on how much you are willing to spend and where it is legal/being driven. A kit for america can be different to a kit for the UK. Some stage 1 kits aren't just an air filter. New gaskets, spark plugs, At least 8 or 9 components. Just depends on where you get it from...

how manny cars have you had ben? is it only the polo and the mini?

Yeh it was the stock a series engine but modified. Atm its at Watsons getting a Honda Vtec B18 engine fitted :)

Nope I would have to remove my rear seats for that, would rather have passengers there. + its currently at Watson's garage having a vtec engine put in it (the B18c6 from a integra type r to be precise) :) will defo do some vids of that when its done

BenXL Will do. However I've read that with that much power it was quite a hard treatment for the chassis, and some people were very afraid when they drove it. How do you feel?

Sounds nice but could I suggest maybe retorxing your tappets and adding an oil additive to make it run and sound that a but better

Go for it man, best purchase I've ever made :D and this was my 2nd car had a 96 vw polo before :P

£6,100 just be weary if the advert says no rust actually get it checked over before you buy. Thats where I went wrong. Had to pay out a couple of thousand in garage fees for it to pass its mot

its like driving a go kart on the road lol. srs you cant go wrong with a mini for your first car. Im so happy i sold my first car and bought this :) also you'll learn a lot about cars by owning one and everyone will think your cool xD

It was a B18c6 but I span a bottom end bearing a year or so ago going around a track. So the bottom end now is a B18c4 with c6 head.

yeh its a honda motor, bout 200hp from the 85hp it is in this vid. so will a 1/4 mile in bout 14.5 secs

Your "mods" description is a little off... Kent doesn't make a 268 cam for the A series motor. I'm assuming you meant a 286? And those absolutely are not 13x10" wheels. looks like 13x7's to me.
