Your antenna mount technique works but what I do is get the roof panel placed properly and then mark front centre of the antenna mount. Then I 'trace' out the shape of the antenna mount with medium gauge soldering wire (which holds its shape) . I mark that shape onto the panel in the correct spot and kiss cut it out -slightly shy. Then with another installer helping we just 'one shot' the roof right over the mount and we get glass every time.
