    This is why titles mean Jack sh!t among people who have had a job for awhile lol. You can literally call yourself the janitor and give yourself a 6 figure salary if you own the company. Your 'team leader', 'project manager' titles mean nothing outside of your corporate cage. If you bring in 1$ doesn't matter if you're the COO.

    Kevin hit it right on the money, it's something you would expect to find in a bargain bin or on a convenience store rack for $5. Nowhere near worth what they're asking for. Laser engraving your own logo on it is neat, but it's also an obvious attempt to bloat the product's value and any wise businessperson's first piece of advice would likely be to get rid of that and accept MuteMe's fate as a novelty toy.

I think that one colleague who is in the habit of walking in jokingly asking what [insert nasty nickname you came up with] was whining about this time, makes the button useful to prevent him from doing that while you are still on the phone with that person. A lot of people hating on this product. I would buy it if it was like 10 bucks or something. Although I still am not quite sure they explained how it works. Does it actually properly mute you when using video conferencing, etc? I don't like manually hitting mute in zoom, or TEAMs by clicking the button, if that window is even up, which often it is not. My headset mutes when the mouthpiece is up, unmutes when down. It unmutes and mutes teams/zoom. but sometimes, it doesn't work, in either direction. either mouthpiece goes up and it stay unmuted, or vice versa If this could guarantee a global mute across device or app or w/e, it's big, easier to hit than any of my other options, easy to see. I would still be wary of an update of something breaking it depending on hit it works/integrates into the operating system. But still....I'd buy it for office work.

  • @docguy

    @docguy

    4 ай бұрын

    Yeah. The thing is that this is a hardware and software combined solution. This isn't an additional mute layer. It literally interacts with each conferencing platform's native mute function, and works regardless of whether that app has focus on your screen or not. I actually own one of these for my home office (got it for my birthday last summer), and at the time thought it was overpriced (It still probably is). I'm using a multi-monitor display setup, and often have multiple apps open at the same time or have zoom set up to use dual monitors, so the control bar isn't necessarily at the bottom of every screen. I'll have a web browser pulled up on another monitor or I'll have a note taking app up. I also have kids at home and a noisy dog, so I keep myself muted unless I'm actively involved in the conversation. This has made it super easy to toggle the meeting software's mute setting regardless of what app I'm currently typing in without having to try to find the right button on the right screen. It interacts natively with apps including Zoom, Webex, Discord, Facetime, Teams, GTM, Slack, and Google Meet. You also have the ability to disable OS level mic control while in a meeting, so you never have to deal with the double mute issue. You can change the colors so you can easily tell if you are muting meeting software vs muting OS when you aren't in an active meeting. (I use red/green for meeting software and purple/white for outside of meetings.) So while I agree that this shouldn't cost $39, it's more than just an external mute button that is already on your keyboard or mic or headset. In the year I've had it I've used it a lot and it has been useful. Their only competitor on Amazon is selling for an even higher price point. If mine broke, I'd probably buy it again.

    Should have cut costs by cutting the engraving. Then made engravments an extra fee, if desired. It would allow for them to lower the price, potentially to a place where people would be willing to pay for the novelty of it, and then also have optional add-ons that can potentially add extra revenue. Make it cheap enough for consumers to be willing to spend on a whim and then ptentially get them again with customization stuff they can add on later.
