Mustangs at the Water Hole/Steens Mountain 2022

The video and still photos in this clip were all taken at a water hole in the Steens. Quite a few horses would come to this spots at different times of the day. It was a place to rest and relax, but there was also a lot of sparring going on ... mostly playful, but every once in a while, it would turn serious.

Steens is a huge area, with gravel and dirt roads throughout. I don't think I could give you accurate directions. You should find horses, though, and there are waterholes scattered around that all have water this time of year ... horses could be at any of them.

Is there another longer video about the mustangs of Oregon coming soon Joan? Because they’re really such a majestic and fascinating breed of horse of both United States and Canada within west of the Great Plains! 🐎 💜 🐴 🇺🇸 🇨🇦

@@joanmartelli8127 Thanks. Also one more thing when you do can you please use Native American music in the videos about these horses? Because in Lakota language their name for this breed is Shunka Wakan (Meaning “Spirit Horse”). Also can you ever go to Oregon’s warm springs and kiger gorge to film more wild horses there?

Why is it, that if MY horse goes two weeks without her mane and tail being brushed, it's a total rat's nest...a total ball of hair?

@@joanmartelli8127 I can understand them not needing a farrier because of the terrain they run on. But, I think of the intestinal worms, and they must be covered in ticks too. Beautiful videos and pictures BTW. Your channel popped up as a recommendation from KZread.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video! All I know is that those horses look pretty darn healthy to me. Never saw a horse that had the poor body condition you'd expect from a large parasite load. Perhaps less risk because they forage over a huge area?
