Must see PHENOMINAL Build tour ! | DIY Fuso FG Overland Build

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

SPECIAL! - Walk around tour of Pierre-Carl’s DIY build 2013 Mitsubishi Fuso Canter FGB72S! Pierre-Carl has done an absolutely phenomenal job of a ground up build on this truck, and the results of his efforts shine through! From the box construction, to the interior cabinetry, and everything in between - Pierre-Carl has designed, built and assembled this truck with his own two hands! If you ever needed inspiration to pull off a project like this, HERE IT IS!!
THANK YOU Pierre-Carl for showing us around!
As always, I like to leave useful information in the video descriptions - and this time is no different. There are a couple of things we talked about in the video that can be hard to find, so I’ve placed some links below.
One piece of information I missed putting into the video is the size of this habitat box. The length is 15’8”, it’s 89-1/2” wide, and 84” high on the outside.
These are purely informational links, and there is no affiliation to these companies other than the materials used were purchased from them.
If you are located in North America and are looking for upgraded parts for your FUSO, you’ll probably want to check in with Fuso Off-Road. The Super single rims on both trucks were purchased here, as well as the bumper, flares, and suspension on Pierre Carl’s truck.

The gasket seal that Pierre Carl used on the cab pass through came from Expedition Upfitter. If you are building a vehicle, they have lots of other items you may find useful!
expeditionupfitter.com
And here is the seal www.expeditionupfitter.ca/col...
Since this is an information share, I’ll throw one more useful link in here for anyone trying to find Fuso related parts. ROAD Overland has some good, hard to find bits - and are worth checking out. No affiliation, just information!

If you are interested in any of the items I use in my build, check out the video descriptions of all the other posted videos, there are lots of links related to the content of each video!

Stunning build, Pierre-Carl has created a masterpiece of functional and beautiful design there. I'm also very impressed with his selection of materials and simplification to keep weight down where possible. The fit and finish is something we all should aspire to. It's a credit to his craft and skills in every way. I also think purchasing a 'parts camper' was a fantastic way to get a good package of items that suits your needs. I installed a cable interlock for the brush bar and cab tilt on our Fuso. It's all well and good to remind yourself before tilting the cab, but it's that one time when you are a bit flustered (non-starting truck partly blocking a street, for instance 🙄) and only think you've already dropped it that was enough to convince me I should design an interlock.

That’s a great idea! Do you have a cable that runs from the bumper up to the lock handle?

@@BruceandKrista Yes, it's just a standard industrial push-pull cable available from a number of suppliers. After drilling a small hole through the bumper behind the brush guard flange, I welded a small u-bracket welded behind the bumper for the threaded cable sheath. When the brush guard is closed it simply pushes that end of the cable flush with the bumper. The other end engages in a hole in a small tab welded to the safety lever for the cab tilt mechanism. You can even run the cable along the chassis rail to keep it looking 'factory'.

Extremely nice build, Pierre-Carl you should be very proud. We are planning to head to East Canada in about 6 months, currently cruising around B.C. With a huge amount of luck, hope to see your rig on the road next year. I also like the lower storage box configuration, optically, makes a large box look a little bit smaller. Bruce and Krista, hope you picked up a few great ideas from this build :-)

Great video again. Thanks . That is really impressive all the work he did. It sets a pretty high bar for the finish for all us Fuso converters and anyone else self building. Also really interesting about his priority for the wheels and suspension. We really seem to struggle in the UK to source the rims and leaf springs. Seems like Canada, USA and Aus are much better catered for in Fuso upgrades.

You are for sure right about the bar being raised!!! We don’t have a lot of choice for aftermarket parts over here in Canada either (basically, one option!) - those Aussies are spoiled!! 🤪

Looks so good. The boxes are incredible. Would love to learn more about how he made his undercarriage boxes out of alupanel! How are they fastened together? Rivets and Sika252? Also super curious about the truck's weight vs gvwr and the dimesions of the habitat.

The 1x1 box tube frame inside the lower cabinets is welded together, then the Alupanel is bonded to the aluminum using 3M VHB tape. I hope to do something very similar (though slightly different!) The length is 15’8”, it’s 89-1/2” wide, and 84” high on the outside. Not sure if he has weighed it?

@travis, 2003, we built our ExpeditionVehicle on a 1996 Ford CF8000 commercial truck. . Our windows are 3010 (three feet wide by a foot tall) dual-pane sliders designed for a stand-still house. We mounted these at our eye-level standing inside, about eight feet above pavement. . Over two decades full-time live-aboard, zero issues. And small windows are small targets for branches and jealous by-standers.

To paint the plastic, I first cleaned the parts with a degreaser soap then lightly sanded and rinsed well with water, before painting I applied a plastic adhesion promoter in aerosol then several coats of acrylic paint for plastic and vinyl. That said, the paint is not resistant to scratches has much has i hoped, I plan to do touch-ups as needed! It was a lot of work and maaany of cans of paint, but I don't regret, the pale blue whas making me sick😆 Let me know if you plan on doing it and need more infos. good luck!😉
