The opening to Overlord is still one of the most overcooked, bombasted scenes from any audio mix. Overall, I think Dune part 1 and (part 2, fingers crossed) will be one of the best movies for content/technical presentations (c'mon Imax release) that we'll have for reference and rewatchability.

Ready Player One used to be my go to, but Overlord is just so damn good in the beginning for feeling that super deep bass. Love it!

The Revenant was shot in all natural light, yes. Beautiful movie 🎥

This was awesome! Ok here's mine... 5. Blade Runner 2049 - I've watched it 4 times but I'm gonna need 8 like Shane to unpack it all!😆 4. Inception - By the 4th watch I could fully keep up with the sleep layers! 3. Mad Max: Fury Road - Who hasn't watched it at least 100 times?🤷🏽‍♂️ 2. Avengers: Infinity War - Because I've watched it more than anything else except my number 1! Honorable mentions - 10 Cloverfield Lane, Kong vs Godzilla, Avengers: Endgame 1. Terminator 2 - Because it's objectively the greatest movie of all time!😂

Hi there I was wondering if any one of you fellas happened to know if there is a difference in image/sound quality when watching iTunes movies on the Apple TV app (on my LG C1 Oled) compared to the Apple TV 4K box. I've heard some talk about the Apple TV 4K having better image quality due to the better hardware but no Review online seems to mention that topic.

I love Heat too, been watching it on HDR 4K on iTunes, hopefully when it comes out on 4K disc, it will have Atmos. As for my top 5 movies on 4K, here they are: 1. Blade Runner 2. Blade Runner 2049 3. The Dark Knight 4. 2001: A Space Odyssey 5. Dune (2021)

Heat probably won't have an Atmos remix. Michael Mann doesn't like messing with the original mixes, of his films. He and Christopher Nolan are alike that way.

@@christopherbrown5023 Do you have Insider knowledge that Mann is involved in the 4k release of Heat? I believe Fox/Disney owns the home video rights to the film. So, if they want to remix it in Atmos, they probably can.

Great comments Shane and Brian. Great to see those recommends and enjoyed Oblivion, Aquaman myself. I personally keep watching LOTR.

So apparently Shane's dream movie would be a completely de-saturated monochrome movie, all shot at night, with a bass heavy throbbing soundtrack and lots of ambiance sound effects that has a gunfight somewhere in the middle to show off Atmos. The briefest colour or plot or humour will disqualify any movie. 😏

I know everyone can't stand Nolan using 5.1 mixes for all his films, but my go to films are always Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tenet, and The Dark Knight. The visual clarity is unmatched, and the bass in all of these films rattles the pictures on my walls.

It's not his 5.1 mixes as much as it is a "buried" dialogue in comparison. Other than dialog cohesiveness, his mixes are amazing, with lots of dynamic range. One of my fav directors. He just needs to compress the dialogue in some situations.

Great stuff, guys. I have been watching Game of Thrones on 4K blu-ray and for me this is the only one that’s been so much better than all other formats that it’s worth having on 4K blu-ray. For instance I also have Westworld on 4K disc but didn’t find it to be that much better than the regular blu-ray. I also have a lot on digital on iTunes, and some of them like Fury, Ford v Ferrari and The Lord of the Rings are really stunning in 4K and have good sound as well, so I don’t see the need to get them on 4K disc. So what I would like you to do is make a top 10 list of which films is worth having on 4K blu-ray that are much better than regular blu-ray or 4K streaming.

Most recently rewatched movies in my collection. Not for any particular reason other than overall enjoyment. 5. The Accountant 4. Lone survivor/ Fury (tied) 3. Ford vs. Ferrari 2. Edge of tomorrow 1. Nacho Libre (could watch this every day)

Man of Steel is truly an underrated movie... I did not like it when I watched it for the first time, due to me comparing it alot to the Christopher Reeves Superman movie.. But it grew on me and I love it more, everytime I rewatch it....

Heat is one of the greatest movies ever!!! Great list Shane.

Amazing list shane, I would put the dark knight in must have the imax scenes are stellar and the movie is great too. But 5.1, what you gonna do.

Is there a complete list of discs with imax scenes somewhere? I'm rocking 163" wall in my garage and those scenes are always stellar.

My brain doesn't like that movie. It's about as real looking as you can get and it just doesn't register right to me lol

Love the channel, commentary, and content. Please review the THX Monolith 13 or 16 inch subs, PLEASE. Want to hear your thoughts on how they compare to other subs you've had, what they do with edge of tomorrow and if or when chuffing becomes an issue. Thanks!

Nice lists! Here's mine. Life of Pie, Fantastic Beasts, Lone Survivor, Gravity and Den of Thieves.

Great reviews guys. I have over 1000 blu rays and UHDs. So many choices. Incredibly difficult to pick a top 5. Mine are all ones that have come to UHD more recently than alot of these. Top Gun Maverick, John Wick 4, Spartacus, Jaws and Lawrence of Arabia. These are not only great movies but they look and sound fantastic.

1. Gladiator 2. LOTR Trilogy 3. Avatar 2 4. Mad Max Fury Road 5. Infinity War

Top 5: 1. Interstellar 2. The Quite Place. 3. Inception. 4. Skull Island. 5. Midway

Ready Player One is a faulty transfer. It's the only disc I own that freezes at the same exact spot every time since I bought it. The Gundam/Mechagodzilla fight. And I remember switching the discs like three times at target and they all did the exact same thing. Even after using a different 4k Blu Ray player.

My top pick for picture & movie 1.mortal engines 2 .renenavent 3. Lucy 4. Mulan 5.elysium

The Matrix, Life of Pi, Interstellar, Ready Player One, Oblivion. Gemini Man honorable mention for PQ. All demo material.

Best things about Dolby Atmos movies. Once the novelty wears off one can go back to watching movies of appreciation. And of course with 5.1 movies when the audio does decide to come out, unlike Atmos it tends to stay out 😂

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within 4K blu ray has a truly demo worthy Atmos soundtrack. The overhead object movement is among the most distinct I've heard, maybe THE most distinct.

Still waiting for TRON 4K..

Heat is my favorite movie ever, the 4K transfer is sharp, and it sounds solid ....that’s where the praise ends....it’s a horrible dim desaturated transfer that’s just miserable. Mann did the same thing with Collateral , so he’s not a fan of any highlights whatsoever, or saturated color apparently 😀 he oversaw the transfer so that’s his choice, but I watch my blu Ray every time I rewatch it now.

I have a lot of older movies I'd love to have in decent 4k. I got a dvd 4k burner that can rip 4k disks and burn them with the right software so been putting my 4k and blue ray disks on my server. Much easier just to fire them up on Plex when we feel like watching something seriously with good audio.
