This would work great for pool pipes when they break. I always hated to remake sections because there were no easy ways to rebuild the bends.

@@MossEYE- , it’s not the pipes but the way it was put together . The chlorinator had 45s and straits and then and then went off to a split U underground. Each section had less than 1/4” of straight pipe to cut. You need more than that to repair. You end up have to dig and cut from underground. And after a couple of times it becomes annoying to replace . Then there was the section above the pump that went into the sand filter. Threaded and bent. If you don’t secure just right on either end, there is no going back after it cures. Redo it , or section it, or add a Union as I ended up doing.

These are worth double the price of a regular one piece fitting saver , those reed ones will last soo much longer and plus anything that wears you can easily replace these are a must have for quick easy fixes like this one

I use them have several on my service van the larger diameter put a strain on the cordless drill 3 inch and up I would recommend a corded drill hole hog type drill . Cordless will do it but it won’t be happy

This is the first time I have seen this exact one and it looks nice, blades are probably changeable. It looks a lot like a cutter for a shaper.

That thing is awesome. I have always wondered in spaces like this how to fix it, or if there was a way to drill and remove the old pipe and install a new one in its place without major wall surgery. Will definitely be getting some of those Reed pipe savers.

I love that tool. I have it in 2" for pool plumbing repairs. I have saved $75 valves, and extra work by having one. I hate when I see multiple couplings in a straight piece of pipe. There was one job I did that literally had 4 couplings in a 2' straight section. One of those couplings was leaking. I cut it out, reamed the valve, and plumbed in a new section of pipe. The tool pays for itself in saved time.

That's a badaxx Reem drill. Good work! I just bought a milwaukee 12v hacksaw for cutting pipe out of fittings. Short throw and less aggressive then the 18v hacksaw.

Just a heads up to anyone who plans to get a set. The set is almost 400 US dollars. The full sets you see floating around for cheap are knock offs even if they say Reed. A friend of mine bought a cheap set and they are indeed cheaply made. You absolutely get what you pay for. I have the legit set from Reed with a few other sizes they offer. They work great. The larger ones require a little more torque from your drill but they will get the job done.

Rectorseal has had it around for years. There's uses 3 or 4 cutters though for faster even cutting.

That might be a good tool to have for running electrical in pvc conduit. There is nothing worse than gluing a fitting and realizing it isn't right ...as the glue is setting

These work. Period. No ifs ands or buts. Don’t even try those other style ones (the one that looks like a broken fan blade on a shaft) , they are not only useless, and always damage the fitting you’re trying to save, they are downright dangerous. They tend to bite the pipe at the worst time and spin out and chew up your hand or anything else near it. Ask me how I know.

Just wait until you break a fitting. Those ram bits are full, take forever and will break a fitting. Also pipe barely fits. These are worth every penny and will outlast all others.

@@mechanical-hub everyone’s entitled to their own opinion but I’ve been using the same set of ram bits for about four years they work perfectly. Breaking a fitting is user error, the pipe fits just perfectly in the hub. I will be sticking with ram bits! 👍🏻

Rectorseal made this before Reed. It's called the "GoldenSeal". Although Reed's shank fits in a 1/2" chuck better. Rectorseal'S has to be ground down or machined to fit. Shank is way too big. Love the tool otherwise.

I'm not sure who made it first but I can say after owning both for years, REED's is a better reamer for sure. I've used every size from 1.5" to 4" and get a perfect fit every time.

I just use my Heat Gun. Heat the fitting and pull it off. I only do this on drain lines never on a line that will be pressurized... It is quick easy and no mess...

@@mechanical-hub everyone’s entitled to their own opinion but I’ve been using the same set of ram bits for about four years they work perfectly. Breaking a fitting is user error, the pipe fits just perfectly in the hub. I will be sticking with ram bits! 👍🏻
Great tool, but way too expensive for someone who might only use these a couple times a year.

Rectorseal made this before Reed. It's called the "GoldenSeal". Although Reed's shank fits in a 1/2" chuck better. Rectorseal'S has to be ground down or machined to fit. Shank is way too big. Love the tool otherwise.

I'm not sure who made it first but I can say after owning both for years, REED's is a better reamer for sure. I've used every size from 1.5" to 4" and get a perfect fit every time.
I wish i knew about this 2weeks ago.. god it was a pain using a heat gun I’m an idiot smh.

Used one today lol
I just use my Heat Gun. Heat the fitting and pull it off. I only do this on drain lines never on a line that will be pressurized... It is quick easy and no mess...

I just never understood why people plumb pipe and water lines so close to the walls. Atleast leave a couple inches extra for us future plumbers 😂
