Thank you for producing such informative videos. I'm a fairly new Hero 8 owner and I find your videos helpful.

The suction mount and "Shorty" tripod are my favorite accessories for *any* GoPro regardless of what it is. I'm on the road a lot and having that ability to mount my camera to the dashboard or windshield is perfect. Combine that with the Shorty's small size and you got yourself the perfect day trip kit.

Thanks for posting. As a new Hero 8 owner I found it helpful.

Yes the handler is one of those must-have accessories in my opinion. It works great just has a handle for every day use and it has a lanyard for those risky situations. Plus in and around water Prevents your go Pro from sinking to the bottom

I'm still using my Hero Black models 5 & 6 and the GoPro Hand Held Folding stick with a small Tripod that screws out of the inside of the handle transfers every vibration of my hand movement when switching views, changing hands etc. causing an editing headache. It is so bad that folk have made videos trying to rectify the problem whilst GoPro conveniently ignored the question. Therefore I trust that with their latest model and these new hand held grips that the situation of hand movement vibrations have been resolved. Thank you for the Upload, some very useful information contained therein.

My personal favorite (still on previous generations) is the Vlogging Case with 52mm lens adapter. Think there’s one for the Hero 8.

I know they have extra battery packs + chargers. I go the two set and I have three batteries total after the amount it only takes to charge 1 :))

Just use the USB battery pack you already have.

Great video - I would be interested to see some third party options that are worth it, especially with the protective housing. I’ve got a Hero 8 and feel like that extra peace of mind would be helpful but for £50 I’m not sold!

Great video as always, I just bought a Hero8 to amuse myself during quarantine so this is incredibly timely! One tip I’d throw out there is that GoPro offers 50% off a lot of their branded accessories with a GoPro Plus subscription, which you get a free 30 day trial of if you haven’t used it before. I bought the magnetic swivel clip, roll cage, and Max grip all for 50% off their normal price with free shipping, and I’ll just cancel GoPro plus before I get charged at the end of the month. Great way for people new to the GoPro ecosystem to make the usually overpriced branded stuff much more affordable!

They need an attachment point for a lanyard on the Roll Cage and Protective Housing. I make stand up jet ski videos and wear the Chesty and have the H8 in the silicone sleeve and put the lanyard around my neck while out shredding. I've broke the buckle mount and the GoPro was saved by the lanyard around my neck. I mean really, you'd think those brilliant minds at GP and third parties would incorporate an attachment point into there products!

Can you plug in a USB charger while using the roll cage? For example if you use the cage when mounting the cam on a motorcycle to protect it from pebbles and other debris.

Probably not, unless you're filming alone

I use mine all the time with it plugged in. I usually take the battery completely out when it plugged in. Doesn't heat up that way.

When you have it plugged in with a battery in it does it charge the battery while you're filming? Or does the GoPro take power from the battery first then when that's dead it goes to the auxiliary power?

Don't buy the gopro case buy cheap foam filled one and cut to your liking. Have bigger one fit my gopros, a telescoping pole, 3 batteries, dual charger, mounts and extra SD cards. Be creative can get it way you want. Some get the tiny case just for the gopro and stuff everything else like accessories in a bag. Great video!

I’m surprised you didn’t mention tamper glass screen protectors... I bought them for front and back glass

They did not make them available for the 8. I think for the most part to try and entice people to purchase a cheaper version. I am glad they did away with them I think in the long run it was more confusing to new costumers who were purchasing their first GoPro

The GoPro brand housings have always done well for me. Just make sure you get one for the version of GoPro you have. They all fit different.

I wanna know if gopro hero 4 accessories are combatable with gopro hero 8. I have found online a bag that comes with many accessories such as sticks and wrist straps, it's labeled for gopro hero 4/3/2/1 so I would like to know if it will work with a gopro hero 8. Thanks

Is it possible to attach any ND filter to the waterproof cage? I have a waterproof cage for my Hero 8 and I looking for ND filters for a cage, I want to protect my action camera and on the same time to use ND filter.

Do you think that putting tempered glass on the lens and touch screen will be as good as the Rollcage? I want it to be protected but i feel like i would always forget the rollcage...

I think the roll cage would offer more protection but sometimes it is impractical

Nice video man, I have both gopro 8 and max, and I want to know if you could charge the battery from the gopro max using the external dual battery of the 8 or viceversa? Since I think the plug is the same just change the size of the battery

I've got the waterproof case for my motorcycle. Water drops flying at the camera at 70mph could be an issue. I've heard of people that don't use them but I'd rather not take the risk

It depends, if you want to do active things then don’t get it if your gonna be talking to the camera vlogging then I recommend the media mod

Yes you have to be careful with some generic and third-party suction cups they don’t work very well. It’s good to stick with a good brand such as the official gopro suction cup

The 270 pole is something that interests me but I’d say that carbon fiber and sea water do not go very well together. Sea water corrodes carbon fiber over time and it would be best if it is used in sweet water instead. Also are there any interesting backpacks aside from the seeker that you could show us? From what I have seen there are not too many options out there.

I have not really noticed any video degradation or extra sun flares. But the lens is easily removed if need be for specific shots
